  1. Ecclesfield and Margetson booking is a pain. I booked an appointment recently for my son - that is over 3 weeks away and at Ecclesfield which is more difficult for me to get to. I have a 5 and 2 year old and don't drive. Plus then there is the waiting time. Last appointment was nearly an hour after it should be. It is very difficult waiting with young children for that length of time. When I lived at Wincobank it was totally different. Could sometimes get a routine appointment within a few days. Yes the sometimes ran late but not as often or as long. Guessing I was lucky at Wincobank. Also not keen on a couple of the older doctors at Ecclesfield as I remember them from when I lived at Grenoside. It seems like unless your dead then there is nothing wrong with you. On one occasion I was lucky I didn't die. I ended up in hospital being pumped full of antibiotics, fluids and beta blockers. I was told that my heart was beating so fast due to fighting the kidney infection that I was at risk of having a heart attack - I was 20 at the time. I had seen a GP a couple of weeks earlier and she didn't seem that concerned with my symptoms.
  2. Not buying a PC for gaming but as it is described as one I am wondering if it would be any good? http://www.pcworld.co.uk/gbuk/computing/desktop-pcs/desktop-pcs/hp-omen-870-216na-gaming-pc-10157511-pdt.html Might not actually get this one as I won't be buying until September time but it will be something of similar spec. Looking at getting a 28 inch monitor to go with it. BTW last console I had was a Wii which I liked playing Mario Galaxy on. Last PC games I liked playing were Half Life (the original one) and Dungeon Keeper 1 and 2. No idea about modern games but I was wondering if I should maybe try out the odd game or 2 on it if I get the chance.
  3. Its best to start your own thread but do you know if it can be upgraded? You should be able to upgrade it to El Capitan if you have an iMac which came out in Mid 2007 or after.
  4. I would have thought a "pop up shop" at fairs would work. Often there is food or drink being served somewhere at those type of things however it is hard to get a decent cup of tea. A lot of cafés and coffee shops serve Twinings Everyday Tea as there only option which I hate. Doesn't matter how long I leave the bag in it still tastes off nothing. I would much prefer Yorkshire Tea. However maybe its just me! I often order coffee instead because it tastes acceptable, there is a trend for coffee and I think most businesses provide tea a secondary less important option because it's not as popular. But there are still plenty of tea drinkers around who would like to be able to get a decent cup of tea when were out somewhere.
  5. Yes I have several email addresses that I access via Blue Mail on my Andriod phone. It also handles my Gmail emails.
  6. From briefly reading this you can still include a link and even write your on copy to accompany as long as you don't include actual copy from the linked site? Because if so the original news website owns the copyright to the content anyway. Permission should be sort to use any of the content - which of course they could refuse to do so or request a fee. Or have I missed something?
  7. Is this Help to Buy then if so you should read this: "Can I own a Help to Buy home and buy a second home? No. If you can afford to purchase another home you will have to repay the Help to Buy: Equity Loan. The property purchased must be your only residence. Help to Buy is not available to assist buy-to-let investors or those who will own any property other than their Help to Buy property after completing their purchase. You cannot rent out your existing home and buy a second home through Help to Buy. Applicants who make fraudulent claims for Help to Buy assistance will be liable to criminal prosecution. Fraudulent claims will always require immediate repayment of the equity loan - See more at: https://www.helptobuy.gov.uk/equity-loan/faq/#sthash.1TqRbVna.dpuf" From https://www.helptobuy.gov.uk/equity-loan/faq/
  8. Yes. If they are already due to speak the lender you might as well wait and see what they say first.
  9. My advice still stands about getting advice. The term is transfer of equity but the remaining person will still be subject to the lender's criteria. The sister may not meet the lender's criteria. This needs to be done properly with a solicitor on both sides. Your friend and their sister need to seek professional advice.
  10. Have you tried taking out the battery and putting it back in again? There is some advice here on how to reset it using a PC/laptop https://www.techwalla.com/articles/my-blackberry-wont-turn-on Never tried this as I don't have a Blackberry.
  11. If your still struggling I can email it to you if you PM me your email address but I can't guarantee you won't still have the same issue opening it.
  12. Just tried to open both PDFs on my Android phone. Worked fine. Must be an issue at your end. What type of device are you trying to open them on and are you getting any error messages?
  13. I'm probably biased because I'm left wing but even I can see a strong leader regardless of which party they belong to. Wasn't a fan of David Cameron but I could see him getting voted in at the last GE. Just don't see Theresa May as a leader. I hope for the sake of Brexit negotiations the Conservatives find a genuinely strong leader. Would have liked Labour and specifically Corbyn to win. Never voted Labour before this GE. I hope this is a wake up call to the Conservatives at the very least and also to the media. My husband told me about some negative press Corbyn received in some newspapers a couple if days ago. I told him I had not even heard about it. Many people my age and younger don't receive our news from traditional sources we use the Internet. These newspapers were trying to sway Labour voters but many of the young Labour voters will have never even been near a newspaper during the election campaign. The power of the internet, particularly social media, has been proven in this election I think. Times have changed and politicians need to wake up to this.
  14. Bit confusing. So if you have a shop/cafe/whatever this is why not put that address on Google? I think you could do with explaining more or follow NewBiz's suggestion.
  15. What is your budget? Because its not good recommending areas if you can't afford to live there.
  16. Best bet would be to contact a web designer/developer. You could place an ad on the jobs section of the forum. The wedding website I pointed to and others like it already have a lot if it set up it's not like building one completely from scratch.
  17. It should be on my profile but ive sent you a pm. Once I get the image I'll have a look.
  18. Can you email me the image so I can have a look?
  19. I think to the average person you website is fine. Although as I pointed out I do think you could do with naming your images so it is easier to follow the before and after. Your website looks a lot more professional than some sites you see. I think one of the problems from a lay persons point of view is the number of links. You have repeated some of the links further down, I don't think you need to put Portfolio, Insurance, Prices, etc again. I would be tempted to make the homepage smaller and remove these links as you already have them at the top. Something like for the homepage: Menu, Image showing work (this could be a series of say 3-5 images showing what you do) and then text about the main bits that you do, which is plastering and rendering. Then your footer. I would skip the the recent projects bit (its already covered under the portfolio link) and the bit about coloured render. I think the rest of the site could stay the same but I would be tempted to change the home page just so it is easier to see what you do. Sometimes people can get lost in a site when there is lots of information on one page. I would keep it simple because the average person no naff all about plastering and rendering. What they want is to get a good first impression from the home page - some nice pics and a bit about what you do. You can save the more detailed info for the links you have at the top - which although they might be good for SEO purposes the average person doesn't really care about the more technical side of rendering or plastering. But do you really want to change the site? I get the impression no because it sounds like you have done a fair bit over the years. But it does make me wonder why you are coming here, it makes it sound like you have doubts over what your web designer has done. Really the designer should have done research and know what will appeal to your customers. If they say it works and you are getting work from it then does it matter what anyone on here thinks. If it works for you then does it matter that I think the homepage could be simpler?
  20. This might be beyond your skills then if you have never used a design program before. It is possible to do what you want but it might be better to get someone else to do it. Where you are studying do you have any design students, maybe one of them could help?
  21. You could do it in Photoshop or Illustrator. With Photoshop what you could do is get an image of some prison bars and then erase the space between the bars and place this on top of the image you have purchased. The result is that the person would be visible in the space you have made between the bars. Hope that makes sense. You could also try to draw bars in Photoshop but it wouldn't be worth the hassle as drawing in it is a pain. If you want to create a drawing then use Illustrator. You can create shading using gradients to create the illusion of 3D bars. Illustrator has many tools in it some similar to what you can do in Photoshop like the ability to create Transparency and blur. It also worth mention that you can copy and paste something you have drawn from Illustrator to Photoshop as a "Smart Object", this is really useful if you plan on editing what you have drawn in Photoshop. Drawing the bars in Illustrator might be quicker depending on what look you want to achieve. You say you want it to look professional but unless this is for a design course then I suspect you might get away with less than perfect as long as it was good enough and got the message across. Just out of interest what course is it that you are studying? And have you used Photoshop or Illustrator before? Or any other design program?
  22. Might be able to help, I say might because you haven't really said what your trying to do. What is it that you need help with?
  23. I visited your site last week for a bit of research I was doing. I was looking at your logo rather than the site though. I know that you haven't asked for feedback on it but I do think the logo looks like something done in Word. The 3 circles arc over your company name in an odd manner, the spacing is off. And it doesn't really say Plastering or Rendering to me. Back to the site. It is viewable on mobile which is a big plus as many people only look on phones these days. On your portfolio page I think it could be made clearer which ones are before and after photos. Of course many it is easy to tell which one is which but an example is this image: http://www.mac-plastering.com/wp-content/gallery/landscape/pict0492.jpg I couldn't instantly tell which house it belonged to so name the pictures for example "Semi-Detached with Porch: Before New Rendering" and "Semi-Detached with Porch: After New Rendering". Or something else just give each group of photos a name and I think it will be easier to tell. Also from a SEO (Search Engine Optimisation) point of view the photos don't have names related to what you do. They have the names that the camera has given them "DSC_0405.JPG" or things like "image3". For a SEO they should include your keywords ideally but don't over do it. If your can't fit your keyword in the image naturally then don't - what I mean by that is think how you would talk normally. Search engines don't like if you keyword cram. Also found this dead link on the Portfolio page "http://www.mac-plastering.com/wp-content/plugins/fusion-builder/inc/lib/assets/min/js/general/fusion-ie9.js?ver=1" I checked another one of the pages so I'm guessing these appears on all pages as it is part of the widget area on WP. It appears under your email address. In regards to what NewBiz says it might be consider a bit spammy. I'll not gonna lie I haven't followed SEO techniques in recent years. But I do know that Google and other search engines like your text to appear natural but you do of course still have to mention your keywords but just don't over do it. There is a Wordpress Plugin called Yoast SEO, I have heard a few good things about it and installed on my new site. I haven't really played around with it much but it does have good reviews, maybe you could install that?
  24. I know this about saving money which is why I mentioned that I think this has been done because they know less parents will take up the free breakfast offer. My point was more that the Conservative manifesto seems an odd one as they have upset some of their own party as well as traditional Conservative voters. Sorry El Cid I'll be voting Labour. Which I have never done before by the way. Although I did vote Lib Dem once in the past its Labour for me this time.
  25. From what I have been reading online, mainly Facebook, most people don't seem happy about new idea. SF is the other way round. Benefits I have read for the current scheme include: - Some kids are being sent to school with a bag of crisps/bar of chocolate and not much else, or some other unhealthy meal - like which has already been mentioned on this thread. One of the benefits of this scheme was to try to encourage healthy eating - not just about saving working parents money but about the obesity problem. These kids are now getting a more well balanced meal including fruit and veg. - Also about working parents who are sending their kids to school with no meal at all but because they are working not being entitled to free school meals so these kids go hungry. The policy of free school meals has meant that these children get to eat full stop. Not even about healthy eating for these kids but about getting food, any food. From what I have read there is some suggestion that this new breakfast scheme won't go down well with many Conservative voters, which makes me wonder why they have suggested replacing lunch with breakfast. I can say from my own point of view that I'm unlikely to take up the free breakfast scheme. It would mean sending my children early just for something which I can provide a home. The current breakfast club at my son's school offers toast, cereal, fruit, etc (possibly bacon/eggs - not sure on that) but the sort of stuff that I would provide at home anyway. My kids usually eat cereal or toast they don't have fried breakfasts. I do take advantage of the free lunch scheme, non means tested one, for my eldest (youngest is 2). His meals would normally cost over £10 a week. For arguments sake I will say £10.50. So thats, 39 weeks at school at £10.50 = £409.50, for 2 kids thats £819 for both my kids a year. Thats a lot of money compared to what it costs for a packed lunch. If I had to pay for it then I wouldn't, the kids would have packed lunch. My concern over this scheme doesn't come from the idea that kids should get a decent breakfast - I mean who could have a problem with that? But my concern is about how many parents will send their kids in early to get this breakfast? My suspicions are that a lot less kids will benefit from the breakfast scheme and that is the reason why the Conservatives want to bring it in.
