  1. I know a few people, myself included, who have worked in call centres and wouldn't apply for a job like that. And why? Because it is sales and possible worse than that outbound sales. Worked inbound doing customer service/general enquires is bad enough trying to make sales to people who really don't want to buy, not my thing. I would be crap at it because I'm too honest. That's what others I know who work in call centres have said too. I would apply for an inbound non commission job for less money over a sales job. Also it is not worth working any job for some people. My sister has split from her husband and has a 2 year old. She needs to find a job that is at least 16 hours a week but also one she can do round childcare - she gets 15 hours free because she is on benefits. Working a minimum wage job, a few hours a week may well make her worse off. On one job she got an interview (she went to the interview but didnt get the job) for we calculated she would be worse off because of travel costs and the reduction on benefits.
  2. My bold. I just play Youtube videos from my phone, there is an option to send it to TV within the Youtube app. It's a lot easier. You can also play Youtube videos on your TV from your laptop or PC.
  3. Saw 3 idiots on scooters a few months back riding around the park. The number plates had been removed. I'm wondering if what you heard last night was the same idiot we get on our road? Someone with one of those mini bikes has been riding around a lot on our road and then he disappears somewhere, maybe the park? There are a bunch of kids that hanging around with this same kid. My husband reported them once because we thought they were trying to break into a house. The police said there were no signs of anyone trying to break in but they were up to something. One of those kids has a habit of standing in the middle of the road pratting about when he sees my husband coming (this started before he called the police). My husband's had dash cams fitted because he is worried one day the kid will get hurt. He decided to hide behind my husband's car when he was reversing once. The mini bike kid has been out most nights and day too since start if the holidays.
  4. Maybe it was missed on purpose because they might not be required to replace it. Check with the council. As I wrote previously the levels of lead in your water might be within acceptable levels.
  5. Normally there are bags in the car but sometimes we might forget to put them back in after we've been shopping. I don't drive, it's my husband's car. So sometimes I'm going by bus or walking. I yes sometimes after walking somewhere and back I might realise I need to nip to the shop. And I'm guilty of thinking sod it I'll just buy a bag rather than walking home and back again. But as I'm walking (good for the environment) I can live with the occasional bag purchase. I don't buy 5p bags very often at all so I can live with doing so when life gets in the way. I have two kids and sometimes I forget to take bags out of the car. Sometimes one of us will go back to fetch them, sometimes we just carry what we have back to the car. But if we are parked too far away we would just buy one. I have a bag with me and a plastic bag inside that bag when I go on public transport but not always when I'm walking.
  6. It is like that with a lot things in life. I'll start a diet after my holiday, I'll stop smoking for new year, I'm going to walking to work instead if driving cause I need the exercise... Funny how many times people put off changing something or end up back tracking. We're all guilty of that, me included. When we like something we all tend, at some point in our lives, to make excuses to keep doing what we like.
  7. It is not always a case of not catching on. I use bags for life, been using them for years well before the charge for plastic bags was brought in. But sometimes when I'm out I might remember I need something. I'm sure it is better for the environment that I buy a plastic bag there and then than it is to go home in the car to fetch a bag and come back again.
  8. I think the problem with showing him on TV is that his victims might see it. Listening/watching in your home is one thing, searching on the internet too - these are personal times you are watching, listening or reading. But TV is broadcast into everyone's homes. I'd imagine it must be hard for victims if they just happen to channel flick and then come across him. Same with Radio too, getting in the car and having one of his song's come on. And it's not like it is showing him in a fair light. When we show programmes about historical criminals like Hitler we show it in a fair way as possible, we don't show him as nice, warm guy (might have been to his friends) we show the evils he committed. It could be said that his victims might be watching (I don't think they will be that many left now) but I think the difference is he wasn't the one actually committing the atrocities himself, he got others to do that. The victims of a crime will remember the perpetrator more vividly then the person who ordered the crime. Also I think the type of crime does effect people's opinion. Rape of a child or adult is very personal crime. If you were raped and had to see your rapist singing a song on TV, being applauded and liked knowing what he had done how would it make you feel? I don't think his music should be erased but I think quite rightly broadcasters are using their discretion about what to show.
  9. No I don't have one but I have used Macs before, although it has been a few years now. I remember the old beige Power PCs and the original iMac G3 https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/IMac_G3 from college (finished in 2003). They also had a couple of iMac Pros too. I'm trying to think of the last time I used an iMac, it was before my eldest was born (so over 5 years ago now). I will be using them again this September as I'm going back to college to get a degree and they have a suite of iMacs. I never had any issues switching from Mac to a Windows PC. It is a case of it being different, bit like using Android is different from Windows - you just get used to it. Whilst at college I had a Windows PC at home, a horrid Time PC which had a dodgy RAM stick so it kept freezing but my Mum insisted it was fine (it really wasn't fine!), and I would take my work home from college and work on it there. If you have never used a Mac before then don't worry just treat it as a learning curve. Some people will say that they are intuitive, I think it is a case of they are used to using a Mac. I have heard that iOS is intuitive, sorry but I find it anything but. However, that is probably because primarily use Android on mobile devices and I only occasionally use my Dads iPad. If I was using it all the time I would get use to it, like you do with any piece of technology.
  10. I lived in Grenoside originally and nights out were nearly always in town. It would have been easy to go to Hillsborough and cheaper taxi wise to get home but never wanted too. Plus I'm a bit of metal head so the pubs round there don't really cater for someone like me. Also been dragged round Attercliffe a couple of times. I don't think there are words for most of the pubs round there. Dire doesn't cover it. Hillsborough is probally the better out of the two - if I had to go to either on a night out.
  11. This is a bit obscure I would have thought but I like the Gill Sans typeface. Eric Gill the designer of the typeface had sex with his teenage daughters, his sisters and dog. But I doubt most people would recognise the typeface and chances are they wouldn't know about what he got up to either. I think the more prominent and recent the criminal acts are the more like we are to deride the artwork. As time goes on and especially if the crimes are less well known about then we seem (as in all of us/general public) less likely to care what the artist did in their personal lives.
  12. I can't donate because I have been given blood it is because of the increased risk of CJD.
  13. My sister lives not far from where you are looking and likes it. I'm not so bothered about the location and where in laws live (Stannington) but that's only cause we live on "the other side" so if we visit we have to go through all the traffic to get to either. I live in Parson Cross and getting to Hillsborough from there is not pleasant when there is traffic - so rush hour and match days. That is one of the downsides to Hillsborough - traffic. One of the others in parking, can be a nightmare on some roads not as bad on others but generally speaking finding parking isn't easy. As one of the those people who "live in less affluent areas" I can say I don't go into Hillsborough for a night out as it has always seemed rough to me! By that I mean the pubs/general atmosphere at night.
  14. What about this http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/162615648400 ? It slightly over budget £360 but it is in Rotherham so maybe you could collect to save delivery. 21.5" screen, 12GB RAM, 1TB HDD and i5.
  15. Oh OK, well yes there are clean but they might still be stained (if the stain won't come out and I know its going for rags I don't make effort with removing) or maybe with holes in so therefore not saleable as is.
  16. I thought that stuff like that was bagged up and sold as rags? I used to work in a charity shop where that happened. That's why I still bag up my not so good clothes because I thought they could at least sell them for rags. Maybe I shouldn't?
  17. Yes emphasis there on GOODWILL. As in discretion, they don't have to. They could if they are feeling nice. And that's assuming they are allowed to. Store policy may well be set by head office and there is no discretion (goodwill). And this is a charity shop, if I was the OP I would suck it up.
  18. By law they don't have to allow you to return unwanted goods, this goes for any physical shop. Different rules apply for distance sales. A shop can offer a return policy that goes above your statutory rights. If they do they can choose to apply terms such as items need to be returned with tags on and within X number of days.
  19. Looks like it is running Windows (maybe 95/98? looking at Start button) from looking at the pic at the bottom.
  20. Chances are the iMac will have better specs than a Macbook for the same price. Look at the specs RAM, HDD, processor and screen size. iMac will likely have a faster processor, bigger screen, more RAM, better graphics card and bigger screen. It is the same with a Windows PC - you get more for your money if you buy a desktop. Do you have a budget in mind? Actually using an iMac or Macbook is pretty much the same apart from the usual differences. Laptops have a touchpad, smaller screen, etc. Often less USB ports.
  21. Many older properties have lead piping. You can get the water in your home tested for lead levels. Not sure if the council have to replace them though. Even when you have lead pipes often the quantity of lead in the water is within safe levels.
  22. Baddodaddo has now sold it but I checked on eBay sold prices and one similiar but without an SSD went for £200. http://m.ebay.co.uk/itm/Macbook-A1342-7-1-mid-2010-2-4GHz-Intel-C2D-8GB-ram-500GB-HDD-Cycle-00-NEW-BAT-/172656544375?hash=item283321ca77%3Ag%3A6B4AAOSwdjNZCIgz&_trkparms=pageci%253A384f3084-767e-11e7-9039-74dbd180cf7d%257Cparentrq%253A9c5e548015d0ab6a86244620fffe087f%257Ciid%253A14 The other models sold were all classified as refurbished so I didn't include those but they sold for more.
  23. You don't see yourself as a professional landlord but that is the problem - you are. Doesn't matter if it is a favour or not being a landlord is the same as running any business because it is a business. There are rules that need to be followed. Unfortunately for you your friend can wait to be evicted before leaving. They can choose to leave if they want or wait this out. Some landlords offer a sweetener to make their tenant leave early. For example offering to pay for moving costs and maybe a deposit on a new property. Depends how quickly you want them out. Not sure if this would be applicable in your case, could your friend move to another private property?
  24. I will going to Pride on Saturday so I can't do the Lino class which is a shame. The screen printing one looks interesting too, last time I did screen printing I was in school. Only thing is with it being a Wednesday I will need to see if I can get someone to look after my children.
  25. Not sure if this is classed as a Craft but here goes: https://pbs.twimg.com/media/DFcSb-iXkAA3-HS.jpg Custom canvas trainers for Sheffield Pride. Decorated with permanent markers, 3D craft paint, sequins, glitter and flowers. Didn't want to pay £60+ for Pride Converse trainers so bought a plain white generic trainers from eBay (£11 ish). £5.00 markers from Hobbycraft and some bits and bobs I had in my crafting boxes. Bought some rainbow laces from eBay to finish them off. Also did a custom t-shirt for me and my husband but not put the pics on the internet yet.
