  3. Well, now that we've done our first two markets, I am happy to report that we had a lot of very positive comments from people trying the samples, and I'm pretty sure the majority of those people were non-vegans, so I reckon we're doing it right . After all, you can't argue with good cake. That's my theory, anyway. After being sent home halfway through the Devonshire Market today due to flying gazebos (not mine!), we'll now be at the Totley Christmas Market tomorrow (Sunday 15th) instead! Also at Buxton Farmers Market on the 23rd December selling all sorts of Christmassy foods. If you are interested in where we'll be in future, look us up on Facebook or twitter (search for Food to Include) for updates (and gratuitious food photos).
  4. Hi everyone, Just wanted to let people who are interested in vegan, dairy-free and/or egg-free food know that there are some new opportunities to buy vegan cake (and some baked savoury foods) in Sheffield! There will be a 100% vegan cake/baked savouries stall at the Nether Edge market on Sunday 8th December, and also at the Devonshire Market on Saturday 14th December. There will be free samples so you can try before you buy! The Sheffield Country Market in Broomhill on Saturday mornings is now also stocking vegan cakes and savouries. More details about all the above here: http://www.foodtoinclude.co.uk/vegan-market-stalls/ Thanks!
  5. Jacket potato place in the Oasis (jacket potato and baked beans = standard vegan option), also there's a curry place in the Oasis that does vegetable curry but I don't know if it's vegan or not.
  6. Can anyone give me the phone number of the recovery centre?
  7. My friend had her car nicked from Walkley on Thursday evening, it's a white Proton, reg J571 DYA. It's most likely someone took it for a ride and then dumped it somewhere. If anyone sees it, could you please let me and/or the police know. It's quite a distinctive-looking car, in fact it looks like this: http://viewmorepics.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewPicture&friendID=126327001&albumId=200710 Thanks!
  8. I'm a vegan drunk! Only occasionally though, not all the time. And I'm not for sale. The Dram Shop at Commonside has a good selection of vegan wines and beers, they might have other types of vegan alcohol but I don't know as I only tend to buy wine and beer myself.
  9. Anyone know if they do vegetarian main dishes? There don't appear to be any on the menu, but would they do one of the main dishes on the menu with mixed veg instead of meat?
  10. Las Iguanas in West One, Sheiks on Glossop Road, Pizza Express on Devonshire Street (veggie pizzas minus cheese), Royal Spice in Walkley. I've not been to The Bohemian yet but it looks nice and atmospheric from the outside.
  11. First part of the day riding off the road to learn the basics of controlling the bike, practising how to do junctions, hill starts (essential skill in this part of the world!), cones, emergency stop, etc. and second part of the day riding on the road with an instructor. It's all stuff you need to learn anyway to ride a bike. It's not a test but if the instructor thinks you're sufficiently competent by the end you get your CBT certificate, that allows you to ride on the road on your own on a learner-legal (generally 125cc or smaller) bike with L-plates. The CBT was brought in to stop people killing themselves by buying motorbikes and riding on public roads with no training or prior experience whatsoever. Your car driving licence will act as a provisional driving licence for motorbikes but you need to have the CBT certificate to be allowed out on the road.
  12. This weekend! Concerts, ceilidhs, sessions and workshops, at or around the Burton Street project (nr Morrison's) in Hillsborough.
  13. Maybe I have a cake obsession... I'm making cakes to take to work for my colleagues tomorrow. Vegan cake is fun because no-one ever suspects it's possible to make really nice cake without milk or eggs, particularly not cheesecake or light and fluffy chocolate cake. My colleagues are so funny, when I brought cake for my birthday they ate it all, said how good it was, then realised it was mine and then got really confused as to how I'd managed to make sponge cake with no eggs and cheesecake with no dairy products . And after work I'm playing and sound engineering at a festival, fortunately I'm not too weak and pale to lug PA systems around every weekend!
  14. That's what we tried to explain to our relatives when we got married and explained that we would like everyone to write us a nice card and take some photos for us instead of giving us Stuff - guess what, we ended up with piles of Stuff anyway which is all sitting in a cupboard at my parents' house because we have no space/need for it at the moment...
