  1. Exactly As I said on my post earlier... Get back on topic!
  2. Try again... I got it wrong the first time! Sorry! Each to their own!
  3. Found it: http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?hl=en&client=firefox-a&q=spital+hill+petrol+station+mural&ie=UTF8&start=0&ll=53.391365,-1.458575&spn=0,359.993101&z=17&layer=c&cbll=53.391443,-1.458524&panoid=EyVElOd6J4Dj_MpiG5CMhw&cbp=12,235.38,,2,5 Well Spital Hill is actually S4! Thats been up there for a while and apart from the S3 in the top right, you can see dubs like these all over the world...
  4. The old Murco, Merco petrol station?! Is there a new mural or the stuff from years ago. Been a while since I went past there?
  5. Take a look here. It will show you the cheapest trains and busses available. apart from National Express coaches: http://www.megabus.com
  6. Some charities may collect if in good condition... Shelter, Remar?
  7. What will go on the site? The Moor is already put "on hold"
  8. More info here: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/sci/tech/8193769.stm
  9. Its run by East Midlands Trains - Stagecoach these days. Hate booking systems, but hey, what can we do!?
  10. Bloody hell! There still open... Agreed top notch. Wongs Kitchen on Upperthorpe (old chippy) is cheap and good!
  11. Things have a way of getting out. Seen it a few times. Not from my own experiene though! Well said!
  12. There are still busses around with the paint job on (orange, blue bit up the back)... Logo may have been removed but will keep an eye out next time im around! http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2598/3742547385_18e18089b3.jpg
  13. Yes I know I am? What kind of playground talk is that? I corrected myself and agreed you were right - Oh god - Not flawless you know! I catch busses in London frequently and when you see First, Arriva, Stagecoach on the side - Thats what you think, but hey I read up and corrected and agreed and not on your say so. Right... Virgin was not a rail operator at some point. The council was not control of busses at some point and is not now and the PTE have funded services... So what? There are other means, such as the Sheff to Leeds fast services funded by Yorkshire Forward. The have proved popular with an increase in passengers since launched with more capacity. This also lead to Sheff, Barnsley Wakey and Leeds getting a fast service... Oh! And before I forget the PTE actually funded extra services on the Penistone Branch... I say... God damn im on a rush! http://www.sypte.co.uk/NR/rdonlyres/F94A3606-7EE6-4D78-826A-22D7CB4A63B0/0/RailStrategyRefresh.pdf And also an example of businesses and public organisiations working together were the Sheffield Station Gateway. You may have used it? The then SRA and Midland Mainline, Council, PTE, NR and Sheffield One worked in partneship on the project. Where theres a will theres a way... I have a right to complain, as a citizen and tapayer if I think the above are not "doing it right" or "not considering the options". South Yorkshire Passenger Transport Authority gets £5.58* per month from each council taxpayimg household in Sheffield for 09/10. * Rates at bottom of page 16 - Council Services: http://www.sheffield.gov.uk/Easysite/admin/AssetManager_ServeAsset.asp?crypt=%C2%89%C2%AD%C2%A8%C2%95%C2%91%C2%93%C2%BE%C2%BA%C2%B5%C2%95%C2%A2%C2%BD%C3%80%C2%B0%C3%89%C3%93%C2%82%C2%A2%C3%85%C2%B7%C2%90%C2%B9%C2%9E%C2%A1%C2%81%C2%80t%C2%84a%5Cc%C2%BD%C2%A4%C2%AC%C2%A1s%7E%C2%95k%C2%8CYy%C2%B3%C2%95%C2%8C%C2%A0q%C3%80%C2%8B%C2%9A%C2%96%C2%BE%C2%82%C3%81%C2%BE%C2%AA%C2%BC%C2%90%C2%B0%C2%B6%C3%8C%C2%B3%C2%C2%C2%C2%C2%C2%C2%C2%C2%C2%C2%C2%C2%C2%C2 I don't mean to show the PTE in a negative point. It make sense to compare draw comparisons. Well less of my babbling nonsence... I thought these forums were for debate and not infantile swipes. Shame we could not had a more mannered debate, as would have spent a bit more time in my responses in detail, as we exchanged posts. So this is my last response to you.
  14. It was Mr Coupe that passed away. He had a service on Abbeydale Rd. Chris Searle is still around. I spoke to him just a few months ago. He's done a new book on jazz and resistance recently: http://www.tuc.org.uk/the_tuc/about_information.cfm He also writes a jazz column in a paper: http://www.morningstaronline.co.uk/index.php/culture/regulars/chris_searle
  15. Maybe of help: http://www.tuc.org.uk/the_tuc/about_information.cfm TUC archives/collections/history online
  16. You come across a bit patronising in your reply... I understand NR are responsible for the infrastructure, as predecesors were Railtrack and BR. My point is that maybe the PTE, SY Councils maybe could do something together on this with Northern or without them and bid for a franchise (thats probis not an option as the franchise wpould go out of SY). I think other alternatives/comparisons should be explored, as they have not to public knowlede, apart for the tram extension and what would happen if we had to go cap in hand to expand the bus corridor!?. I think reintroducing the real limited stop X services, as in SYT's Fastline fleet days would be better value and serve SY better and more cost effectively. You are correct.
  17. Exactly, but I doubt that they have been looked into. I mean the capacity on certain parts that run through the Rotherham area are very sporadic and introducing one or two tph for frequency could do wonders. Frequent rail services would be great for the area and Rotherham as would connect directly to Donny and Sheff mainline to rest of country. Capacity is another thing but really dont think thats a real arguement. Rail on London overground line run much more frequent services and this is their double track sections. If the PTE and SY councils and train co's could work together with some strategy they could, but again thats if theres the will. Think we do drop behind other cities sometimes as people who have the reigns dont see the bigger picture and go off on a whim *
  18. Fair point, but my point was that they could used the same technology and experience from TfL. Not expand Oyster to Sheff!
  19. Tube, DLR and Overgroung are, but Busses and local rail services are privarely run!!
  20. Well the cladding will hopefully make the places more warmer and energy efficient in the winter!
  21. Oystercard in London is a place where this works. Speeds up the commute and queing. The PTE could have found it just easier using the same system and using Transport for Londons experience instead of wasting money. I mean the bus corridor they pla! Busses already operate on the routes. Thet could introdiuce more trains as local busses feed to interchanges and train journeys are much quicker than bus in SY. The PTE are like kids with a train set!
  22. Ah... Possibly why the 's is in red!?
  23. Decathlon at the bottom of the Moor. JE are good, but you would burn a hole in your pocket looking in there! Lots of niceties! Keep away from Halfords!
  24. Works in East London and the community is much more diverse... Broomhall - Class divide. Estate on side and middle class on the other. Screens are just like a modern noticeboard with messages constantly update...
