Zubaidah Belly dance troupe are holding their winter hafla this saturday (nov 24th) at Killermarsh sports centre. There will be performances from Zubaidah, Daxie Sparkles, A pole new aventure, Chris Hicks as Michael Jackson and many more both traditional belly dance and tribal as well as some just for fun. Tickets are £11 in advance £13 on the door (children £6 in advance £8 on the door) price includes a fantastic Turkish style buffet. no problems hun just be warned it is totally adictive, I've been dancing for 2 1/2 years with Zubaidah now and spend most of my week looking forward to the next class lol.

At the end of the day as long as the event is open and honset that this would be a freebee its up to you wether you play or not. If you don't want to don't do it, its simple. no decent organiser is going to be offended if you say sorry we simply can't do it for free. As an organiser of a community event I have had people get back to me and say just that, as long as they are polite to me as I am to them I am not bothered. I know its a big ask when I send out the invites and expect to get refusals.

As one of the blaggers and a member of a dance troupe that perform I can see both sides, from the organiser point of veiw I would love to be able to pay my acts, I know how much work goes into performing, the reersals, costume time, travelling etc but with communinty events like ours we have no funding and very little return, we are trying to keep it as acessable to stalls, businesses and groups as possible, most of our stands are charitys and non profit organisations and therefore we don't charge. despite this we still have had to rasie nearly £2000 just for the basics. If the event is one that charges admission etc and makes good money they should pay their acts. As a dancer I do enjoy performing and spend a lot of my time volunteering so I just see freebees as an extention of that, I'm lucky in one way though that this is not my career, for professionals it adds a whole new dilema

hi, its kinda anything goes as long as its family freindly,so as long as there is no swearing, nudity etc its cool. The event is a community carnival so there will be a wide variety of people and musical tastes.

Just so I'm upfront and hnest with people as I said the carnival is just starting back up so our budget this year is non exsistant sorry. Were looking for generous community spriited people who are happy with free publicity xx hopefully next year we can offer more

there will also be hot orast pork sandwiches avalible during the interval

Dinnington Carnival is looking for acts for both the main arena and the main stage. We are starting the carnival up after several years abcense and want to give local acts a chance to strut their stuff. the carnival is on June 30th from 12-4 with a walking parade starting at 11am.
