  1. Just want to bump this thread up. After searching Sheffield Forum for a recommendation for unblocking drains, I phoned rocky1 up yesterday and he came round within the hour and sorted it out. Nice chap and gave some good advice on how to stop it blocking again in the future. Cheers rocky.
  2. The sports fields are part of the school which is closing. They'll need to go for change of use of course, but I'm sure that won't require much effort on their part.
  3. Guidelines surely. I don't think rules. That would be beyond ridiculous.
  4. I expect if they are involved it will just be for a tesco metro. I think there'll be more than one retail outlet there though.
  5. Not heard anything about that. Will be interesting to hear what relocation plans they have then.
  6. Does the internet have rules now? I wish someone had told me.
  7. Having spent years catching the bus on the Abbeydale Road route in to town I have a huge long list of incidents of inappropriate and rude behaviour too. Not by AGS pupils I might add - but by 'First' bus drivers. And before that when they were 'Mainline'. I've made several complaints over the years. Never remember any kids causing any trouble. I've seen them acting like kids a few times. But that's what kids do isn't it?
  8. A friend in the council told me there are plans to redevelop the whole area - including the land the school currently stands on and the playing fields further up the road where the sixth form used to be. I was told the plans are for mixed retail and housing, with an element of social housing (which all new housing developments should have - or so I'm told). They are looking for a large retailer to buy-in to 'enable' the project but are pretty confident of achieving this. I wouldn't be suprised if it was tesco - other developments in the city have followed a similar pattern.
  9. Oh do keep your uneducated, ill-informed opinions to yourself. You and your ilk are tiresome and pathetic. Thankfully the council made the right decision and didn't pander to weak people like you.
  10. Well with that sort of positive attitude it can't fail. Jesus.
  11. Hi there. Missed the meeting on Monday because of other commitments. Can you let me know of any further meetings - I'd like to take part. You can PM me for my email address. Can the uneducated who keep replying to this thread with nonsense please stop. My daughter is at Abbeydale and is already more intelligent than you. Whatever schools you attended have obviously failed you.
  12. Anyone know about Abbeydale Grange? Daughter says it said on the radio it was closed, but website isn't showing it. School phone busy as you might expect.
  13. It's usually part of an 'enabling development'. In some areas, in order for the council to be able to fund regeneration or develop an area it is vital to get a major chain in to 'enable' the project to be successful. There is a financial perk - but to the development, rather than to someone's back pocket. It's not perfect, and it can be disheartening, but it's the only way in some cases. Certainly in smaller towns that are desperate for funding. That's not to say that it's always necessary though and that other alternatives can't be investigated in a lot of cases.
  14. I would heed the advice of laceoldo21 here. Our house was only on the market for 4 days and attracted a lot if interest. If you want the house, just be straight with everyone. Obviously there's an issue if the mortgage company won't give you a mortgage and you'd have to negotiate there - but if you're at 90% that shouldn't be a problem. I would speak to the estate agents/vendors and offer the slightly reduced price and see what they say. If they won't budge you have to decide how much you want the house. That's what is important here.
  15. If you're looking for a surveyor can I suggest you steer clear of Chancellors Associates. Never have I come across such a rude and incompetent company. Give your money to someone else.
