Wherever she decides to go, please tell her to keep the noise down when going out and returning at night. Make sure she tells her friends to do the same. It sounds simple, but this simple act of consideration improves student/local relations immensely. At the moment if I hear one more bin being tipped at 3am I will not be responsible for my actions.

Tree destruction on Winter Street
remyrobson replied to Robin-H's topic in Sheffield News & Discussions
That's still very much the case. As a resident it has it's pros and cons. The extended summer holidays are great and so quiet. Freshers week (month) is less pleasant. -
Tree destruction on Winter Street

Unfortunately, Robin-H Crookesmoor specifically has a density of over 50% in most areas. They were exempt from re-applying when the article 4 legislation came into force. It's great that there won't be any more made into HMO, however the current properties are still very much in demand. I know parts of Crookes that still stand at under 10%-plenty of scope for development up there! -
Tree destruction on Winter Street

As a former student in the adjacent Bartolome House, and current nearby resident I have to say that it is sad to lose the Star and Garter, but it wasn't what it used to be, and I still have my fond memories of the place. The new building looks good, is inkeeping with uni buildings nearby and is a good location for students. My only reservation is that it will be more expensive than most private rented terraces, and price most students out of renting rooms there. Instead it will probably be occupied by increasing number of rich overseas students, who are usually Chinese and keep themselves to themselves anyway. Therefore it would not solve the problems caused by high densitys of student HMO houses in neighbouring areas. -

Car accident? Social club related incident? -
What will happen to the money raised from the sale of the cottage? We are legally bound to invest the money in improvements to the park. We expect to receive around £80,000 from the sale and the list of improvements includes play facilities, the animal farm, footpaths and improved sports facilities. Whilst clearly not all of these can be funded from the sale, the best options will be considered and investment of the receipt is guaranteed.

This is what the council themselves say about reinvestment of the proceeds. Link is in post #395. What will happen to the money raised from the sale of the cottage? Royal Mail post thefts Sheffield
remyrobson replied to Badlittlepup's topic in Sheffield News & Discussions
I've had several items go missing in August and October. Mainly children's clothing, but also a tenancy agreement. I live in Crookesmoor. Nothing cane of a formal complaint, but nothing else has gone missing since. -
Blue bins - now for card only?

It seems that is a question only the recycling faries know the answer to, Jeffrey. -
Blue bins - now for card only?
remyrobson replied to remyrobson's topic in Sheffield News & Discussions
After a morning of toddler wrangling I've managed to phone them! Veolia have no idea why the whole street have had bins stickered, apparently those stickers arent supposed to be in use. They have arranged for a new box to be delivered, and for bin to be emptied tomorrow. I'll have to update my neighbours so they can get their own replacement boxes. Very strange... -
Blue bins - now for card only?
remyrobson replied to remyrobson's topic in Sheffield News & Discussions
We haven't been mixing the recycling, the contents are still there and all perfectly acceptable according to the notice leaflet received from Veolia, with the 2015 collection timetable. All of the houses around here have had blue boxes removed and card only notices stuck onto them. -
Blue bins - now for card only?
remyrobson replied to remyrobson's topic in Sheffield News & Discussions
We're in a house so no shared bins. I emailed them but no reply as yet. Our blue bun wasn't emptied last collection because it has bottles in it, then the sticker appeared. Not sure what I'm meant to do with them now, because black bin is full. -
It seems all the blue boxes in my area have been removed, and all the bins stickered with 'card only' notices. Any ideas why? Is it just the Crookesmoor area?

At around 3 pm it was icy and treacherous. I hope it has been gritted so I can move my car soon.

Found half an hour ago, they don't appear to have been out over night. Message me if they might be yours!

Is it time for more child free areas?

Many cinemas do adult only showings of films, I hate screaming kids when I've paid to watch a film. I have a baby, but I wouldn't dare take her to a restaurant or cinema. It would ruin my meal and everyone else's if she was bored. One day she'll appreciate a nice meal out, until then she stays home! -
A57 Blocked centre of Broomhill
remyrobson replied to WalkleyIan's topic in Sheffield News & Discussions
Does it matter whether a shooting or hit and run is 'worse'? They're both reprehensible. Either way, someone was seriously injured. I hope they make a full recovery and the perpetrators are brought to justice. -
As your signature says your DD was born in 2009, I imagine she was born at the Jessop Wing, which has been open for more than 10 years. I imagine babies will continue to be born there for many years to come. The building being demolished is the old Jessop Hospital, just off the university roundabout.

Planning a baby...could I now be pregnant?
remyrobson replied to Tasia's topic in Sheffield Parenting Group
Have you always been regular before starting the pill? It could still just be your body adjusting to coming off the pill. Some people find it takes up to 6 months to regulate properly. It could potentially be a chemical pregnancy, but usually you'd see a faint line on a test. If you don't have a period in the next couple of weeks then see your GP. I once had a 60 day cycle and no pregnancy... Good luck!
