  1. Think the original post is a bit exaggerated! My MW came round to my house for my 36wk appointment, and all she did was look in my room where i explained baby would be (no cot/moses basket there at that time) and said she wasn't there to look at how messy/tidy etc (it was messy!). But then my mw was always lovely. It's not a 'how clean is your house' exercise, unless of course there's anything that could be classed as dangerous to your baby. It's all just common sense and another red tape issue these poor mw's have to go through.
  2. Oh there's loads in London. Streatham is called (by some oddballs) St. Reatham. I'm in Beighton and i'd rather say i'm in Beighton than Sothall!
  3. Hi all, Know this has been dragged up from the past this thread, but any ideas on mums and babies groups in Beighton area? Thank you
  4. I may be biased, but my husband is a fantastic wedding photographer. He will work through a package with you, but there are packages on his site which you can tailor to your own needs. There's also feedback on his page and i would thoroughly recommend having a look at his site. http://www.magnolia-photography.co.uk/
  5. We had this problem for absolutely ages, only ever worked with the ethernet cable plugged in. Husband works from home so his office became redundant and had to sit in the lounge! Phoned Sky a few times, all of which they were absolutely useless and clearly reading from a script - when i tried to explain the problem, she said what i was saying was wrong. Idiots. Went through all the instructions/things we could think of (we're both pretty PC savvy) all to no avail. We cancelled in the end and are now with O2 - who have been absolutely brilliant with NO problems at all.
  6. Definitely go for Bepantham (nappy rash cream). It was great on my tattoo which i had done at Thou Art in April, and it barely scabbed at all. Definitely recommended. Did the tattooist not give you any aftercare advice? Don't forget - don't scratch when it starts to itch!!
  7. Hi Tiggerchick, We once made the mistake of letting Safestyle into our house - never, ever again! The company we've got the quote from operate a 'no telephone calls' poilcy - they will not call us now. They were in and out in no time, just measured up and no funny sales pitches, they sent us the quote and now it's up to us. So we can't play that game with them. Hubby's gonna call them tomorrow with the 'we were looking to spend no more than X amount' line and just see what they say. Thanks again,
  8. Thanks guys....i don't need another quote(!), we are happy with the company, we just want to bring it down a bit, we're just complete novices at this! We'd heard about basically haggling, just unsure what to do. Psychoangel and thethirdtime, do you live in the same house?!
  9. Hi all, we've just received our double glaing quote. just under 5k for whole house with a reputable company we approached through recommendations (would rather not say who just for personal reasons!) but i'm just wondering, how much room do you think there is for negotaitions on the quote? I know a lot of firms are fairly hard up at the moment because of the economy. We've never dealt with windows or anything like that before so no idea how to go about trying to get the quote a bit lower! Is trying to lower the price the norm? By the way, it's not Safestyle!!!! Thanks, C
  10. Thanks guys! Funnily enough last month i guessed it was 95 so have just been paying that. Good guess!
  11. Thank you. Though i guess i can't just divide by 10 as the first payment is always different to the rest
  12. I've lost my council tax paperwork and can't, for the life of me, remember how much i'm supposed to be paying. I'm in Band A and pay over 10 months. It's around £94 i think, but could anyone tell me the correct figure? Thanks, Lottie.
  13. Hi there, Just adding to the 'if you need a photographer' line! My husband is a wedding photographer, check out his website and you can contact him there for more information if you like what you see. We got married in March this year and it really will fly by. Enjoy the planning....it's all over far too quickly!!! http://www.magnolia-photography.co.uk Charlotte
  14. Hi there, My husband is an experience photographer and would be happy to discuss any budget/package/idea's with anyone interested. Please check out his website for more information and a contact page at http://www.magnolia-photography.co.uk Thanks, Charlotte
