  1. I am not sure if I saw them or not yesterday, I walked up to Tesco along birley moor road at 10 o clock, and there was some strange light in the air, but I thought it was the light from the lampost making they sky look strange. It was only for a couple of minutes, on corner of occupation lane and birley moor road. They mentioned it on breakfast that they could be seen in North of England. Did anyone else see anything around this time?
  2. South Yorkshire police not helping, suppose there too busy covering all their old mistakes up.
  3. When a new primark, is all a city can attract it isn't good. It will only be replacing the old primark, that already exists. Does anyone know how to turn auto correct off in a windows tablet? Sheffield probably has as many shops as many other cities, but not in the city centre which needs huge investment. I will agree it has seen some improvement in the last couple of years, but it isn't perfect. The Panasonic shop is closing down. It'd be good if we could have some good shops in town. The cinema will probably be good. We'll then have four cinemas in the city centre, Odeon, showroom, and the one on George Street, and then one on the Moor. Where castle Market is now, they could have tried to get Ikea or Next home to have build there instead of Meadowhall.
  4. I think Sheffield is in decline, if people saw Liverpool, you'd see how much Sheffield city centre is in decline. Though the main reason they got a lot of investment was became the city of culture a few years ago, and got a lot of money to regenerate the city centre. Free parking days may help, lower business rates would also encourage more shopkeepers.
  5. Also with White Dee shouldn't we be happy that she has come off benefits? She might also become an MP. God help us all, but still happy she has come off benefits.
  6. To be honest, I wish I didn't know this pointless stuff as it will never come in handy for much really.
  7. There was 501. The old bendy bus, which carried onto meadowhall. ---------- Post added 17-03-2015 at 21:09 ---------- There where also some other busses, X72 Sheffield Manchester. X2 X3 X4.0Sheffield to Nottingham services. X32 X33 Leeds Bradford.
  8. To be honest I only got it from Langsett Road to Botanical gardens, so wouldn't know for definite where its terminus was. But busses did have Roscoe Bank on them. Might have just been nearest place name to terminus
  9. Think the old 88 used to run alongside Endcliffe Park. It finished near to Crimicar Lane. It ran from Roscoe Bank, not sure about route in Stonington though, but it went Holmes Lane, Middlewood Road, Langsett Road, then up Angel Street, and straight through to Moor, then Ecclesall Road, turned off at Endcliffe Park, and up to Fulwood. You'd be best looking for the 80's timetable from that period. 81, 82, 83, 84, 88 were all combined.
  10. Glad your nan's taking it well. Did you ask your neighbours if they saw a van hanging about?
  11. Another idea would be to let shops open later until about 7 or 8, as a lot shut around 5, and they might get some people calling in after work.
  12. I think in a way we are all to blame, people including myself shop on line, go to the supermarket, by my meat, fruit and veg there. Then we think its sad when there's no fruit shop, the butchers have gone. There are other issues as well such as business rates being extortionate in the city centre. Sheffield also has mini shopping areas, Crookes, Hillsborough, Ecclesall Road. Its okay wanting the shops, but we have to use them. It'd be good if the council risked a lot of money and made Sheffield like Liverpool One. I can't see it happening though. The council not funding the free bus was probably a mistake too. In Rotherham, they got the shops in Parkgate to pay for it. We could have asked Tesco on the wicker if they would have paid fit if the route had been extended to serve the Tesco aswell
  13. Hope you get the scooter back, there's some horrible people in this world. Try typing model number on eBay, U never know, some thieves are daft. They might try selling it on there. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/blue-three-mobility-wheeled-scooter-/321696683125?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&hash=item4ae69dd475 Have a look at this one, may or may not be yours but for sale in Sheffield area.
  14. I agree but we need a fair system, which doesn't discriminate against real disabled people. Programs like benefits street are designed to wind us up. White Dee is only one person, so it is hard to use her as an example of everyone on benefits. She has become the face of benefits, but I wish that programs like what she appeared in, gave a more fairer picture. Its hard to know what good work autos did, as it was littered with controversy front the start. Staff lied, had little medical teaming, midwives assessing mental patients. I just hope maximus is going to be different, but can not see it. The medical itself is what is at fault, as it one form fits all approach, which can never work, but they got rid of the wrong thing. They should get rid of the WCA.
  15. Has anyone been seen by maximums yet? Does anyone think this new lot will be any better than Atos?
  16. 1400 people we raped over a 16 year period, probably multiple times, and were mass raped, by gangs of men. The good thing is now all this has come out people will feel they have to do more to watch the children they care for. Any man, even women do these crimes, should all be prosecuted. My opinion is these people need arresting asap, and do all the investigations if police cover ups after. A lot of these people will go back to their own countries, if no arrests are made soon.
  17. Its not just unemployed people, anyone who receives benefits of any kind except pensioners are looked down at. Disabled people have become fair game, and some staff in these positions forget that they are meant to help people. I think the mantra, is make it so bad for people, that they don't want to bother claiming. This is then meant to make claimant go out and get a job. There is some idiots what sign on, but there is also some idiots what work for them. Deep down most people signing on would want to work, but job centre staff should be helping claimants find out what jobs people would qualify for.
  18. There are some strange people on here, some of you would be willing to let an inmate keep his money, from the government. Imagine the inmate is in prison, his girlfriend has his cashcard, goes to the bank and gives the inmate his money. He's quids in, and can not be done for fraud, as he was in jail when the money was taken out of his account. It is the claimants responsibility but this relies on a person's honesty, and most people in jail are not known for their strong morals. There is also the case the money will be hard to recover.
  19. Maybe what you say would make most sense, maybe the solicitor should inform the dwp, the one good thing with this is the solicitor would already know what benefits their client were on. The solicitor will have already been paid through legal aid. I had a look what rights prisoners get. They only get two letters a week, one standard issue one, and if they want another one they have to buy it. I just feel relying on prisoners, to remember to do something in their eyes would be low down on their list of priorities is expecting too much. ---------- Post added 13-03-2015 at 17:57 ---------- In solitary you're not alone. You are, for nearly 23 hours a day. The door only opens for exercise and meals.
  20. I think there could be one thing done. Have a special centre where children can report what has happened to them. It should be staffed by specialist staff who can deal with children. Police stations are probably intimidating to a young person. I do think that trying to find someone to blame is letting the perpetrators get away with their crimes longer. There ought to be some arrests made.
  21. Its a sad reflection of our society that everything is assessed by results. The main priorities should have been helping these girls come to terms with what had happened to them, and explain to them that they weren't guilty of anything, just that they'd been exploited by evil men.
  22. Have you ever considered that it may save money in the long run, relying on inmates to do the right thing sounds like a good idea(really does) I am saying that somebody needs to inform the DWP. The chequers sent out could also be cashed, by other family members, or they could use the inmates credit card. Of course the claimant can not be done for theft, as they were in prison when the money was taken. So more money wasted, which could have easily been saved. ---------- Post added 13-03-2015 at 00:32 ---------- I was speaking hypothetically, but thanks for the concern.
  23. Not everyone in prison has some one. What if they live on their own? It is the claimants job, but how can they inform the dwp from behind bars. Would the dwp let someone speak on your behalf without your verbal consent? Maybe the prison should inform the dwp. Can you imagine the other prisoners being happy waiting ages whilst a person tries to cancel their claim. There all waiting to ring their loved ones, and dwp, keeping claimant on hold while they sign said claimant off benefits.
  24. Good point, but why don't the police just ring DWP, or email them with the persons name, and date of birth. I am saying how can the inmate do this. The dwp could look if said person receives any benefits and stop them.
