Your OH is quite right - Dorothy Goldsmith was never a stripper. She was a club act and a very good one called Terri Eden. The rumour about her stripping came about when some "daft lad" asked her husband (my father by the way!!) if she was a stripper to which he replied "yes she takes her clothes off every night" meaning - at home in private!! However "daft lad" misinterpreted this as "daft lads" do and the rumour grew! My mum and dad did run the fruit shop in Ecclesfield and lived in the cottages on High Street. My father (Ken) died in 1965 aged 42 and Dorothy (my mum) is now 77 years old a living in Chapletown. If you spot her do ask her about her stripping!!!! she would love it these days!
