  1. I don’t know if Willy was a Battersby although the name does ring a bell. Willy was the oldest in our crowd I think I was about 12 or 13. I would love to try and find him. When you are young you dont appreciate how good people are.
  2. Mulligans mansions brings back memories. In the early sixties I had a friend who lived there, his name was Willy he would have been about 15 then. He used to cycle down to Sheaf Gardens every night and then back again. He once invited me to the mansions and I met his Mom. She was sitting in a chair with a blanket around her.Willy was making her a meal before we went out. Looking back he was one of the nicest caring people I have ever known and I often wonder what happened to him. Wherever you are Willy I hope your life has been good. Carol
  3. Hi All, How do you insert a picture. Thanks...Carol
  4. I dont think it was Davy Hallam, he was very young and wasnt married. The accident was in west bar during rush hour. Carol
  5. Hello doom bringer, I agree with you so much, Miss Glister and Miss Moor (Norfolk secondary school) both PE teachers bullied us so much. They embarrassed us into buying school track suits. At that young age we didn’t realise our Moms couldn’t afford them, my Mom managed some how but I don’t know how. The situation was made worse by them having there favourites, always bullies and after all these years Jean Sidall comes to mind.( what a piece of DODO) Did these experiences make us stronger? Carol
  6. Im sure his name was Davy Hallam, I can see him now. Carol
  7. Pat Glister and Brenda Moor at Norfolk secondry school, about 1962. Pat Glister knocked me out and I had to go to hospital. Carol
  8. In Cyprus for 21 years but still love Sheffield - Sheffield 2. Carol
  9. My best man was killed in a motor bike accident in Sheffield, was a collision with a bus and would have been in 1964-1965. His name was Davy, I have never forgotten him. Carol
  10. I remember Mrs Harpers chip shop at the very bottom of Chippinghouse Rd, just a few yards away from Heeley bottom.
  11. Does anyone remember David and Peter Salvin from Lowedges ,I have been trying to contact David for years.
  12. Hi, I lived at 52 Sheaf Gardens from 1948 to 1964. I had a friend called Mary Humberstone who also lived at Sheaf Gardens she would now be about 65 ish. I did catch up with her on friends reunited. I see you lived on Manton Street. My best friend lived on Manton Street in the back to back houses at the top. She was from a big family called Turner. Marilyn, Melvyn, Margaret, Lynda, Dianne and a younger one. Their house was in the yard. I also remember Mrs Palmer whose house was on Manton Street next door to Mr and Mrs Jones. Do you remember the shop half way down the street owned by Mr and Mrs Bennett? and Jimmy Lee who lived just about opposite Mrs Palmer. We used to have a big bonfire every Guy Fawkes Night in the yard. I see you have moved from the UK.I did too over 20 years ago. Carol
  13. I think I have been looking for over 40 years for my friend. Her name was Marilyn Turner and she will be 63 on the 2nd October this year. She had an elder sister called Margaret, (I think married a butcher called Arthur Kimpton (Kim for short) an elder brother called Melvyn and three younger sisters called Diane, Linda and ?. I think she married someone called Paul and they had two children, She was born on Manton Street Sheffield 2. I lived on Sheaf Gardens Sheffield 2 and we shared a back yard. After she married she moved to Gleadless. I don’t know her married name. It’s just a long shot but if anyone knows of her or the family I would be so grateful for any news. Thank you…Carol
  14. Didn’t all the dance schools put on a show once a year at the City Hall? I think it was called Pot Pourie but it might have had a different name every year.We had a dress rehearsal the week before. The City hall seemed enormous and had many dressing rooms….Carol
  15. I went to a youth club at the bottom of Howard street, it would be late 50s eary 60s. I can still remember the song we used to sing. It started, Come with me to Howard street. I also went on a tuesday night to a youth club on Guifford road, just of Chippinghouse road (very bottom near Heeley bottom)
