  3. Just one more consideration !! Are you going to paint the shelves? The manufacturers instructions for your boiler say the following... Balanced Flue Position The following guide lines indicate the general requirements for siting balanced flue terminals. If the terminal is fitted within 1 metre (39in) of a plastic gutter, within 500mm (19 1/2. in) of a painted eave or a painted gutter, an aluminium shield of at least 1 metre (39in) long should be fitted to the underside of the gutter or painted surface. An air space of 5mm (3/16 in) should be left between shield and gutter. If the terminal discharges onto a pathway or passageway, check that combustion products will not cause a nuisance and that the terminal will not obstruct the passageway If the outer surface of an outside wall is of combustible material, it should be protected by fitting a non-combustible plate so that it extends not less than 50mm (2in) around the terminal. Page 10 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- If a terminal is fitted less than 2 metres (78 3/4 in) above a balcony, above ground or above a flat roof to which people have access then a suitable. terminal guard must be provided. Terminal Position with Minimum Distance (mm) A Directly below an openable window or other opening, e.g. an air brick 300 B Below gutters, soil pipes or drain pipes. 300 C Below eaves. 300 D Below balconies or car port roofs. 600 E From vertical drain pipes and soil pipes. 75 F From internal or external corners. 600 G Above ground, roof or balcony level. 300 H From a surface facing a terminal 600 I From a terminal facing a terminal. 600 J Vertically from a terminal on the same wall. 1500 K Horizontally from a terminal on the same wall. 300 L or an opening in a car port (e.g. door, window) into a dwelling. 1200 I would always go the right side of caution. Hope this helps Steven Peacock http://www.oneheating.co.uk

  6. It is down to the individual gas engineer who visits. I have seen quite a few horrors where the Gas engineer has seen it appropriate to use high temperature silicone to plug defective case seals etc. I personally wouldn't take the risk. If parts are no longer available and an appliance is in that kind of state, then its time to change the boiler. 9. This is not good at all. The "extractor" or flue as it correctly called, should be sealed where it passes through the cavity wall. The main purpose of this being sealed is to prevent the products of combustion from the exhaust part of the flue, from re-entering the property. The installer who did this has left your installation "AT RISK", and if a competent and qualified gas engineer inspected your boiler in its current state, they should turn it off and attach a warning label. We can help you to sort this out if you like. It sounds like it needs a cowel for the flue terminal, and the space around the flue sealing up. If you can provide the make and model of the boiler I would be able to advise if this part is readily available. (if the boiler is only a year or so old I cant see it being a problem) Please feel free to contact us on 0114 2471805 or visit our website at http://www.oneheating.co.uk Kind regards Steven Peacock
  10. I would check your existing cold water pressure at your kitchen tap. Also the size of the pipe supplying the bath hot tap will affect this. Im guessing that your boiler has been upgraded from a regular heat only to a combi at some point, and the hot pipe that feeds the bath will be 22mm. The size of the combi i.e output will make a difference and the distance the boiler is from the bath in relation to the kitchen tap. Hope this info helps a little. 13. The cheapest thing to replace that could be at fault here are the high limit thermistor or NTC sensor as it is often called. A good gas engineer with experience of diagnostics will be able to confirm this with a simple test using a multimeter. If the sensors are fine then it could be a few other things including the PCB (often not cheap). Happy to come out and take a look for you. 14. Im affraid you probably arent going to be any wiser after this exercise! Just to throw one in you prob wont get told about, take a look at the Viessmann vitodens 200w 30kw. It is a very efficient boiler and as far as im aware is the only boiler on the uk market that actually adjusts its own fuel / air mixture. This makes it very efficient indeed. They are a German company and like all things German, very well engineered. As has already been said, which magazine is prob not the best place to get accurate advice regarding boilers. Also Vaillant & Worcester you are paying a premium for the badge. As far as im concerned there isnt much to choose between the boilers you will get recommended, what matters is how it is installed, a cheaper boiler fitted well will always out live an expensive boiler fitted badly. Appolgies for adding more confusion, but happy to provide you with a free no obligation survey, quote, and advice. To view our fixed prices visit http://www.oneheating.co.uk Steven Peacock
  15. You need to get on the phone to The gas emergency services right away 0800 111999. If you can smell it, it isnt safe. Gas becomes explosive when there is the right quantity mixed with air. If you can smell it then it is building up sufficiently to be a danger. If there is an explosion and someone is hurt or worse, then you would be the person held responsible. Im sure you would rather pay for the necessary repairs than spend time in prison for manslaughter. Stop being irresponsible and do the right thing.
  16. Feel free to give us a call for all your plumbing needs. Steven Peacock http://www.oneheating.co.uk
  17. It depends on what type of hot water system you have. If its a combi boiler it heats the water instantaneously, whereas a system with a seperated cylinder and heat only boiler, stores the hot water. The cost to run the bath depends on, what type of system you have, what you are paying for your gas, and if its a stored water system i.e. a cylinder, then it is also affected by how well insulated the cylinder is. If it is a combi it will be affected by the heat output of the boiler i.e. 24, 30 or 35kw. with a bit more info I can work out a cost to run your bath for you. steve Peacock http://www.oneheating.co.uk

  23. Agree with Dan and Steve. 1st I'd check filling loop is not passing. If it is the flexible hose type, then disconnect it. 2nd I'd check that the expansion vessel was ok. Sometimes they can just lose the air pressure, in which case I'd top it back up to 1 bar air pressure. If there is water in the air side, its shot and will need either replacing or an aftermarket, external vessell fitting. Sometimes the PRV doesnt always reseat and this may need changing also. These are the most common causes of your problem Regards... Steven Peacock http://www.oneheating.co.uk
