  1. I have been registered at this surgery for over 30 years and must admit that I have had to make numerous appointments since my daughters birth six months ago and also whilst pregnant and have never had any problems really getting an appointment. They have started a new telephone system which is quite annoying and you can't book same day appointments. However, I have had to have urgent appointments. I do believe they also have a night when the surgery is open till 8pm, Wednesday I think. Explain your situation and I am sure they will fit you in.
  2. Hi My daughter is 6 months old and has been exclusively breastfed. I have been on medication since my daughter was born due to problems after the birth and the medication isn't working at all and the doctor needs to put me on something a lot stronger asap which you can't take whilst breastfeeding whilst I await an operation. Having spoken to my doctor in great length, my only option is to stop breastfeeding and transfer onto formula. My health visitor is also in total agreement. Does anyone have any advice as my daughter won't even take a bottle with expressed milk (I have TT CTN bottles and have just purchased the Breastflow ones). Also, where do I start with which formula to use. I must admit that I will miss breastfeeding my daughter as I have had no problems at all. Thanks and look forward to any advice.
  3. Another through yesterday omg! Bless her as Evie has a cold an ear infection and is on medicine. Any helpful hints for administering the syringe as I am having difficulties. Evie is exclusively breastfeed and doesn't have a dummy so isn't used to anything in her mouth other than me lol. xx
  4. I couldn't believe it this afternoon, went to my parent's house and my dad was playing with my 5 month old daughter Evie. The next minute I heard an "ouch" from my dad, went in to check if he was ok and he said either Evie has cut her first tooth or she has something sharp in her mouth, she had been sucking on his finger. I really thought I would be the first to find out when she had cut her first tooth as I am breastfeeding Evie has been dribbling for the last few months, other than that and that she woke this morning at 5am screaming (which she doesn't normally) we haven't noticed the poor darling has been coping with her first tooth cutting through. I am so proud of her, but wondering if I may feel it
  5. Wow, you must have read my mind fozzywozzy, I am also looking for a mother and baby group and have a 5 month old daughter :-) I have been attending the baby massage group at what was Herdings School, but would be really interested in attending a mother and baby group as like you my husband is at work all day and it would be nice to meet with new people and get out of the house more often (tend to go to my parents house most of the time to escape!).
  6. I am breastfeeding my daughter who is nearly 5 months old and have to admit that it is only recently that I have breastfed in a cafe (Debenhams). I was so paranoid that I would be flashing at everyone that I always (and sometimes still do) feed hernon the baby changing room and have on occasions fed her in a toilet. Must say reading this thread that I am really annoyed with myself for feeding her in a toilet, but at the time thought I was doing the "right" thing. Must admit that I also think my mum is more embarrassed than me when I have fed my daughter in a cafe when she is there as she passes me a blanket to put over my shoulder! Last time she did that I had to tell her to wait a minute as she wasn't latched on properly and I couldn't see a blinkin thing because of the blanket :-) I am really nervous that anyone is going to say something to me if I breastfeed in public, even though I know most wouldn't. Also, I have loved breastfeeding my daughter so much and I shouldn't give a damn! But, I do. I take my daughter to a breastfeeding cafe and I wish I was like the majority who feed their baby anywhere.
  7. When my midwife came to see me at home she asked if she could go to the loo first. she came downstairs and then asked me various questions about where our baby would be sleeping etc and I explained in our room till he/she is 6 months old and then in the nursery (which hubbie has still not finished and daughter is 20 weeks old!). I asked if she needed to see the room, Moses basket etc and she said no. But, whilst she had been upstairs she had taken the current temperature of our bedroom and said it was perfect - I thought that was a bit rude as she had gone in without us knowing on the pretext of going to the loo! Must say that other than telling us not to let baby sleep in our bed or sleep on settee with baby that was all that was said.
  8. Hi guys I had my first baby a little girl in April. I was induced as I was overdue and had extremely low iron throughout pregnancy which resulted in having a transfusion a few weeks earlier and I had gas and air. I was induced with a pessary at 3pm on the Sunday afternoon and my hubbie was told it would be Tuesday when I would have the baby. Evie was born at 1.40pm on the Monday! My labour pains were all in my back. Gas and air was great, was even stitched with it lol. Good luck to all expectant mums.
  9. Our 20 week old daughter is called Evie and Louise is her middle name
  10. Hi everyone My daughter is 20 weeks old and I don't know about everyone else, but when we take her to get weighed at Baby Clinic we get told by the Health Visitor that she has had a growth spurt! What actually is one? It seems she has one every month :-) My mum always says she has never heard of them and is it not that my daughter has a good appetite lol.
  11. Hi everyone I am due in 9 weeks and am trying to get organised Does anyone know where I can purchase a cat net for the cot and for the moses basket please and also if they are any good. Thanks Sx
  12. Just got back from Jessops and looks like I am going to be admitted for 24 hours to give me iron intraveniously (sp). They have also given me some suppositories for the piles (plus I already have ointment). I am in so much pain with them. Go back next week as they have taken more blood and then I will find out for def if I need to go in. Sx
  13. I was feeling tired and very faint before Christmas, but feel loads better now so was hoping my iron had gone up. Before I was pregnant my normal iron level is not very high, so I am prone to it dropping, but not this much. I have been eating all of the right stuff (green veg, red meats etc), but nothing seems to have helped. Had the tablets not made me so constipated and able to take more than 1 tablet a day, I am certain that would have helped. Got an appointment tomorrow at Jessops to find out what the next course of action is. Will let you know how I get on. Sx
  14. Has anyone had to have iron injections? Been taking iron tablets for the last month as my blood test was 8.9 but as I have IBS they have made me very constipated (been taking Lactulose) and also have bad piles (sorry if tmi). Had my blood taken last week and had the results this morning, dropped to 8.5 now (was 8.9) and my GP is writing to my consultant as she thinks I may need the injections as the iron tablets are not being absorbed by me and more likely by bump. I am 29 weeks today. Thanks Sx
  15. We use Highfields for our cat. One of the reasons was that if you adopt from RSPCA they have some of their jabs there. Plus it is close to where we live. Never had any problems.
  16. mine was very similar fault and i thought they would charge me, was surprised they didn't. must admit two weeks felt like two years without them
  17. I sent mine back to GHD even though out of warranty and they repaired them for free and got them back within two weeks
  18. Wow, not far behind you as I am due 13th April. On New Years day I thought OMG, I am having a baby this year! First day back at work today and everyone remarked on how much my bump has grown. Good thing is all the girls in the office are now on diets so I get to eat all the chocolates!
  19. All my hubbie kept saying every morning when he realised I was watching the programme again was "OMG, not another one!" I am like you, I want to know what happens, but then again part of me doesn't. I am such a wuss though with needles etc and hope just to have gas and air if required. Must admit now Christmas is out of the way time is flying (26 weeks tomorrow). How far gone are you? Sxx
  20. I am due to have my first baby in April and am scared of every part of the birth (other than having our bundle of joy at the end). Doesn't help that I have been watching programmes on TV over Christmas about labour
  21. Our cat does exactly the same and my in-laws cats also. Especially when I feed her tuna it ends up everywhere!
  22. We tried taking the cat of the side and telling her no, our cat thinks it is a game and it can go on for ages :-) In the end I decided to just anti-bacterial before cooking etc.
