  1. I bought some from the granite and marble factory in Darnell a few years ago. https://gandmf.co.uk/ They cut on site and were happy to take me in the workshop to look at all the actual stock they could cut from.
  2. I noticed the scaffolding recently and looked for info on SheffieldForum and this thread is all I found. It's now November and while the structural work looks advanced, I would have expected them to have finished it by now. I also found this article talking about it. https://www.rmcmedia.co.uk/vibe/food-and-drink/article/Derelict-city-centre-toilet-to-become-caf-bar- They have a facebook account (@2riverssheff) but that hasn't been updated since April. Would like to try a coffee there as it may have some interesting views of the rivers and the entrance to Megatron (I think). P.S. also found an article saying the same people are renovating an arch space on Shude Hill that used to be the Barrow Boys Pub N Grub. They are calling it Rag N Tag, it has a facebook page as well (@Ragntagsheffield) with little activity since March. Not seen what's going on there so will have a drive past when I am in the area. https://www.rmcmedia.co.uk/vibe/food-and-drink/article/Historic-city-centre-bar-to-be-restored- If anyone has any news about the projects I would be interested.
  3. Hi Alice, I am looking for some milk Kefir grains to try making it at home. Do you still have some available? Thanks.
  4. Great looking specimens. Do you split yours when they warrant it? Would be good to trade small spare plants if I can get some out of mine this year.
  5. Not really, consider myself a complete novice although I have somehow managed to keep a Sarracenia (purpurea hybrid I think) alive indoors for over a decade without really knowing what I was doing. It is now looking sad so I have decided to learn how to really look after it properly having never re-potted it, but I also have a happier few year old Sarracenia barba, a vft that is a few years old and a Nepenthes alata which is ripe for splitting and I want to get big and thriving. Over the years I've also had a couple of Drosera and Pinguicula which have been fine for a few years but then gave up the ghost either for no reason, an undetected dry out or sun scorch during holidays away. I would like to grow better specimens of these and keep them alive. I've always liked carnivorous plants hence why I kept buying new ones every few years or so but never put the time in to really learn about them. Just positioned them in the house on instinct and made sure I used rain water to keep them damp at all time. I'm more proficient at conventional gardening now and am more confident in general horticulturally so decided the time to step it up with carnivorous plants has come. Will grow the collection this year if the treatment of my current plants goes well enough. Came across Shropshire Sarracenias photos today and found it very inspiring. His use of peat free soils is interesting but I wanted to use peat for my first time re-potting CP, especially my 10yr plant which I really want to save. What sort of collection do you have? I was planning to keep mine indoors still, do you have yours outside? I've been reading loads online but any local tips?
  6. Thought it would be better to revive this thread than start a new one. Have any of you recently seen peat to buy locally that's suitable for CP repotting? I have perlite already so it is just the correct type of peat I need now.
  7. Thanks Gerry. I looked up Hardcores at Owlerton and spoke to them yesterday. Cheers
  8. Hi Lederhose, Could you let me know on here when you get a fresh batch. Many thanks.
  9. I am after some very basic concrete slabs for a building project. Under 7m sq coverage required. I need to go out and buy them this weekend. Cheaper the better. Any recommendations? Thanks.
  10. Can anyone tell me anything regarding the difference between Cineworld screens 4, 8, 11 and 17 when it comes to the following. A) physical size of screen to me looks to be virtually the same for all the mentioned screens if the online seat plan when you book tickets gives a true representation of how many seats are directly in front of the screen (i.e not completely off to the side). In which case screen 8 has a lot more seats to the others including loads more way off to the side, but the same physical size screen. Is this correct? B) If you hadn't guessed already, I am going to book for Star Wars (in 3D not IMAX as there are no decent IMAX seats left when I want to go). Does anyone have any comments on projection, sound, leg room, or other qualities between the screens mentioned. C) Does anyone recommend any rows for any of the specific screens. I prefer further away than close and looking down onto the screen more than looking up at it. Thanks for any info.
  11. I used ASG Aggregates at Shepcot Lane a month ago for 3 ton of loose gravel and was very happy with gravel and it's price. Settled on them after getting lots of quotes from companies I found mentioned on the forum. Will be using them again.
  12. Tried to drive around Sheffield City Centre last night at around 6:30pm, it seemed worse than a normal 5pm to me. Ended up driving to the Manor and Gleadless from Attercliffe, before decending onto Queens Road. It also seemed to be very bad on lots of different roads but mostly in only one of the directions, the other directions being as I would expect at 6:30pm on a weeknight. Does anyone know what caused it? Can I expect it to be busier at 6:30pm than 5pm next time I go around the centre?
  13. I'm after a bottle of Angostura Orange Bitters for some cocktails. I have the regular Angostura Bitters, it is the rarer Angostura Orange Bitters I need now. I've seen them somewhere in Sheffield but can't remember where exactly, I think it was one of the big supermarkets. Does anyone know which one? It will save me driving round them all or spending ages on the phone waiting for someone to traipse round a large superstore to look in the wrong place (What normally happens when I try calling each one). Thanks
  14. If you're talking about the Indus at Attercliffe, it is/wasn't a South Indian restaurant but a regular UK Indian restaurant. South Indian restaurants serve specific regional dishes on the whole, very different to regular Indian restaurants in the UK. The first time most people visit a South Indian restaurant they will recognise very little, if anything, on the menu compared to regular UK Indian restaurants. Give one of the others we have mentioned a try if you are interested.
  15. Agree. I am a regular at Pak Supermarket. It must be one of the best places for spices in the area. I also bought my Tawa here (chapatti/roti pan). They regularly have fresh methi and proper saag (different from ordinary spinach) and a wide choice of the gourd family that I don't use much myself. If you are really into making authentic curries, it is definately worth the detour.
