  1. Hi all I know items to sell must be in the Classifieds but they seem a little hit and miss when finding specific items. Ebay is obviously a good place but I'd rather not sell on there if possible 'cos of fees etc Where is the best place to sell a Roland Street Amp? Cheers Alan
  2. Thank you for your replies. Basically, we're two violinists, using our own amp (Cube) for simple reverb effects, and we want to record some of the pieces we use/play when out in public (weddings/gigs etc). We did a recording about 3 years ago but cannot remember who it was with and they seemed to do a great job. What are studios charging these days? Once again, thanks for any replies Alan
  3. Purpose of website is general information about what we do and a booking/enquiry form. Website also needs to have audio samples too. We have the information and using Office Word 2007, there's about 4 pages worth. Cheers Alan
  4. Hi All, We're wanting a website creating and on a budget - can anyone help or point us in the right direction? Thank you for any replies. Regards Alan
  5. Hi All, We're wanting to record a number of pieces for promotional purposes. Where's the best source to achieve this (preferably in and around Sheffield)? Kind Regards Alan
  6. Sheffield based Stefano Gibertoni is an excellent luthier; http://www.gibertoniviolins.co.uk/ or Helmut Rheingans in Grindleford; http://www.peakdirectory.info/helmutrheingans.aspx I'd try to avoid going to a local shop to be honest as they tend to be the middle man and send your fiddle away - costing more. Both guys above are highly trained luthiers. Hope that helps. Regards Alan
  7. I'm a qualified teacher (school) and very experienced violin teacher and performer (over 30 years worth). It's a shame you want lessons close to your residential area. I live near Doncaster (Rotherham side), I can travel to teach but my fee would be slightly higher to compensate my fuel allowance. Regarding a violin - I have, and can source further, many contacts that can help obtain your first violin. Learning to play the violin should be fun and systematically suited to the individual/s tastes and abilities. My lessons incorporate a little theory but focusing on the practical. If you're still stuck finding a teacher near you, let me know and I'll try an accommodate you in some way. Regards Alan
  8. Imo, to learn any musical instrument without a tutor near your side is like building a house with weak foundations - it'll have the potential to crumble later. You risk retarding your development and probably won't realise your true potential. Your progress will be slow and you may end up becoming frustated/bored early on and ultimately end. Youtube, online books, books from libraries are all good but should only be used as supplementary material. Books and videos will not see and hear your bad habits developing. They will certainly not help you find ways to correct them, unless of course you're a genius (let's face it, most of us aren't). Acoustic guitar should be taught by someone with a good reputation and is an expert guitar player too. Having a tutor will help you build good habits and realise your potential early on. They will spot bad habits creeping in and offer advice in how to correct/avoid them in the future. As a result, your progress will be much quicker too. You can find tutors through the internet and specific websites; http://www.musicteachers.co.uk/search?mode=submit&instrument=guitar&keywords=Keywords&region=49 The above website is a good start - check tutors out 1st e.g. seek references etc, ask to see port folios of past and present pupils - request you see exam results (if appropriate). A good teacher will help source a good starting instrument too. By laying solid foundations, you facilitate your learning of what is a lovely instrument when played right. Good luck. Alan
  9. According to reliable sources, the Zelda tech demo may appear in 2014 in the style of Zelda Skyward Sword - HD graphics will probably be 1080p and running at 60fps: http://wiiudaily.com/2012/09/wii-u-zelda-game-coming-2014/
  10. Not quite - many sources state the Wii was 1.5 times more powerful than the game cube and boasting different hardware (not the same as you state): Wii CPU: IBM "Broadway" @ 729MHz (90nm) GPU: ATI "Hollywood" @ 243MHz (3MB Texture RAM, 90nm) Memory: 88MB Total -24MB 1T-SRAM (for graphics - frame buffer?) -64MB GDDR3 System Memory Storage: 512MB Internal NAND Flash SD card expansion slot ------------------------ Gamecube CPU: IBM "Gekko" @ 485mhz (180nm) GPU: ATI "Flipper" @ 162Mhz (180nm) Memory: 43MB Total -3MB 1T-SRAM (for graphics - 1MB texture, 2MB Frame buffer) -16MB DVD and Audio buffer -24MB 1T-SRAM System Memory
  11. Yes I know - I should've elaborated more.
  12. I'm no fanboy to Sony, Nintendo or indeed Microsoft - I own all 3 consoles, each with their own great games. I go for the games and don't care which console it's on. A fanboy is someone who usually owns one console/pc and rants on that it's the best of the consoles. I'm not that. It's no more hype than what Sony and Microsoft receive - hype is inevitable once people get talking. Hype is also great advertising too. The touch screen is meant as an extra feature, like looking at the whole map in the up and coming Black Ops 2 or the ZombiU game. It's not meant to be a stand alone feature and never will. Games developed for it will use it to 'enhance' the gaming experience, not dull it. I'm not sure what footage you've seen but to use the words 'sub-par' makes me think you're probably anti-Nintendo and probably own either a Xbox360 or PS3. All the launch games run in 720p and 60fps with some running in native 1080p 60fps like Black Ops 2 and Assassin's Creed 3. Treyarch developers have already said that Blops2 on the WiiU is looking tha same as a top end PC and better than the PS3/Xbox360 - what's sub par about that? I don't think Nintendo are trying to re-invent things - they've been in the industry too long to know better. They're moving into the 'touch screen' era as that's what most people like these days (phones, tablet devices etc). They're moving with the times but at the same time introducing new and better ways for people to enjoy playing games. You say most games are sequels or ports, so what do you expect Nintendo to do? Most games on PS3 and Xbox360 are sequels - COD4, W@W, MW2, Blops, MW3, Blops 2. Halo, Halo2 etc, and many many more besides. Which games are ports for the WiiU? only a few, so what!!! There are many original games coming to the WiiU and many sequels, so what!!! The innovation comes with using a touch screen controller to enhance and supplement the gaming experience (which also has a d-pad, thumb sticks and trigger buttons just like Sony's & Microsoft's pads). You can also use the pro-controller to play games like Blops2, if that's what you want, so Nintendo are catering for the casual gamer and hardcore gamer too.
  13. I'm going to our local Blockbuster store - can't wait. Slh73 has got the WiiU all wrong - it's not just another paperweight - it's the latest next gen console from Nintendo, boasting new ways (touch screen controller) and better looking games than ever before. The new touch screen isn't 'daft' at all, I suppose the Ipad 1,2 and 3 are daft too. Innovation is the only way to move forward in a saturated games market of sequel after sequel. You ought to check dedicated websites siting the WiiU and check out what games are coming 30th November and beyond, watch some video footage of those games in action then come back and say they're crap games.
