  1. I had the steak and ale pie a few weeks ago with chips and mushy peas. The pie was superb and they were indeed "proper" chips. Peas were good although I think possibly tinned. It was great though. Yum!
  2. I would highly recommend Ecclesall Road branch. Superb food and service.
  3. Raja's on The Wicker. They do any 3 pizzas for £12. I can recommend the keema achar pizza and the Rajas meat special. Vegetarian also good.
  4. Hi, welcome to the Forum. I totally agree with you. Phil (and Steve) fitted my kitchen (a year ago) from Sheffield Kitchen Outlet - also designed by Dan - and I'm delighted with it. They also fitted flooring for me and fitted wardrobes. I am very happy with everything. I agree with you, it's a pleasure to have them around! :-)
  5. I've been a few times. Lovely food. I tried the Kuba on Friday night (iraqi style pastries filled with spiced meat and deep fried - they were delicious), seabass was good and the lamb kebabs great. Excellent service and very cheap too. The restaurant is a little cold though so wrap up warm! They don't serve alcohol but you can take your own.
  6. You just can't help some people! Jason, I've been low just like you. I took control of my life. I saw my GP and on her advice I took medication and started exercising regularly as this helps depression - and I feel great! I also saw a counsellor which was the best thing I've ever done - but you need to be open to it and I suspect you weren't. You need to help yourself. Be proactive and stop expecting other people to make you happy. It's your life, live it and make the most of it.
  7. I think La Perle (on the Wicker) opens until about 11pm.
  8. Jason. It sounds like you need professional help. See your GP and ask to be referred to a Counsellor. The answer to your problems is not on here. Good luck.
  9. Could anybody recommend a good female optician please? Thank you.
  10. I had lunch here yesterday. I had burger - absolutely gorgeous. Served pink in gorgeous foccacia bread with cheese and superb chips, salad garnish and red onion relish. My partner had rib eye steak and it was cooked beautifully. Great food, great price, and good service. We will definitely go back.
  11. I had a quote from Starlight, amongst others, but ended up using Phil Greenwood to fit the kitchen and got the units from Sheffield Kitchen Outlet (also on Carlisle Street). Better choice, quality, design and value than the others I found. Phil can be contacted on 07729625901. Sheffield Kitchen Outlet also have a website. I'm very happy with my kitchen which was fitted in April this year.
  12. Hi Thomas, I love your enthusiasm. I've joined your FB group. The menu looks good. I live nearby and will be over soon to try your food. I look forward to it. I wish you every success in this venture )
  13. loosehill hall hotel looks good. There's a spa there too. Take a look at the website.
  14. I can recommend Quick Step laminate flooring (they have a website). I've just had it all through the downstairs of my house. Very good quality flooring. I had the perspective 4 which has the 4 grooves. I got it from Topps Tiles on Meadowhall Road. They don't stock it but can get it for you at a very good price and in a couple of days - I phoned round most places in Sheffield and this was the cheapest I could get Quick Step. Speak to Tom, Assitant Manager. As far as fitting is concerned, Phil Greenwood fitted mine 07729625901 and made an excellent job of it.
  15. I've just had a kitchen fitted by Phil Greenwood and I can highly recommend him. We got the units from Sheffield Kitchen Outlet and the designer (Dan) was fantastic. The kitchen is very small but Dan has made maximum use of the small space and the amount of storage I now have is great. Phil and the guys who work with/for him (in particular Steve) are fantastic and genuinely lovely guys. Phil has organised everything for me - electrics, plastering, tiling. I just gave him the key to my house and they got on with it while I was at work. The attention to detail with the fitting is excellent and they couldn't do enough for me. They were an absolute pleasure to have around. I also had quick step flooring fitted throughout the whole downstairs of the house and they have made an excellent job of that too. I am such a fussy and particular person that two of my friends are going to be using Phil on my recommendation without even seeing the work he's done here yet! I shall be using Phil again shortly to install a fitted wardrobe (designed by Dan again) and I'm sure it will be just as good as the work he's done already.
  16. Definitely still open - I went in on Thursday 28 Jan. Lovely people, lovely place and great food.
  17. I would not hesitate to take this further. I reported one of my neighbours to the Police a few years ago because I found her baby (approx 12 months old)toddling in the street in just his soaked nappy - heading towards the main road. I took him home and she appeared to be under the influence of something. I told her I had found him in the street- she didnt seem to care. I was so upset by this that I decided to report it to the Police. My mate was concerned and said "do you think you should get involved on your own doorstep when you could get all sorts of repercussions". I said I just couldn't live with myself if something happened to that baby and I knew I could have prevented it. I reported it to the Police. Officer came, he just went round to visit the house, came back and told me that "he's fine now, having a bottle and nappy changed". He also told me that Mother had all her 4 children taken off her before by social services but they gave them back to her. I was absolutely gobsmacked and said "is that it then". He shrugged and said yes. What amazed me was when he left my house, she had followed him up the street to see where he was going, leaving her kids alone but he did nothing!!! At least my conscience was clear, I did what I could and reported it to the authorities. With hindsight though, I think I should have reported it to social services but then the Police should have done that. I would not hesitate to report the incident you witnessed to the school concerned or social services directly - even if anonymously. My experience was a few years ago and I think services are more on the ball now - and more joined up after so many sad cases of children being failed. Trust me, you will feel better for doing the right thing.
  18. Rajas on Wicker. Prime Pizza at Firvale.
  19. Wong's Kitchen 278 6137 Shanghai garden 272 3688 - http://www.shanghaigardenuk.com Both at Upperthorpe, both deliver and food ok. You might like to try hungryhouse.co.uk or justeat.co.uk
  20. I had a chicken sandwich from here yesterday. Very nice too! Lovely warm baguette and freshly cooked chicken breast. Served with cucumber and tomatoe - both very fresh. It was £2.75 and delicious. The cakes look absolutley amazing but I managed to resist. I didn't see any sign of anything "breakfasty" other than danish pastries which looked fab.
  21. Matt S - knowing people like this won't be in will certainly bring me in! I look forward to trying the cocktails. I wish you all the best, good luck.
  22. Oh yeah, the fish is absolutely gorgeous. Nice and spicy. It was just the nan and salad that I didnt enjoy that particular time. No excuse for stale bread and brown, soggy salad in my opinion so I havent been back since and I used to visit weekly.
