  1. Another recommendation for Joiner Jeff from me, Jeff has helped me refurb an entire 3 bedroom house up in Crookes. When I started the process back in October 2018 (having recently discovered the OH was pregnant), Jeff was (thankfully) one of the first people I spoke to. Jeff already had a team of trusted tradesmen to call on, so he sorted out plasterers, electricians, plumbers, labourers and even a house painter for the exterior of the property. In terms of the work undertaken, Jeff and his team have basically done everything; Moving stud walls, re wiring, re plastering throughout, repair of badly damaged attic staircase, installation of fitted wardrobes in master bed, construction of under stairs cupboard in back bedroom, fitting of new bathroom, fitting of new kitchen, new skirting boards throughout, new architraves throughout and re cladding exterior of the property. If you need a tradesman, I am sure he already knows someone suitable. An a personal note, Jeff is very personable and has always gone above and beyond what was expected to do the job right. One one occasion he wasn't able to attend on the date agreed, so he arranged another joiner to come round to keep the project on track which says it all really. Whenever I haven't been sure about what to do about something, hes always been available to offer his advice and his been willing to accommodate my ideas, even if some of them have proved challenging to say the very least. So to Jeff and his team a huge Thank You! Unfortunately the OH wants to move nearer her parents to take advantage of the free babysitting, so its looking increasing likely that will be starting a new project south of Sheffield in the new year. Needless to say, I will be ringing Jeff first...
  2. Best places I have found are all online websites like cream and chrome and the old cinema are well worth a look. Good luck!
  3. I think someone actually lives in that van... I seem to remember walking past it and catching a glimpse of someone watching tv in it!
  4. Biotechpete the mk5 polo gti only comes in DSG. Personally though I think she should still test drive a DSG. I was against the idea of owning one until I drove one, at which point I realised its much faster through the gears then I would ever be and it means you can really grab the wheel (think accelerating round bends). I don't think I will a buy manual again!
  5. I read an article a year or so back that said inhalation of helium kills more people each year than ecstasy. Something to remember next time you feel tempted!
  6. My favourite part had to be the 'muscle touching ban', you couldn't make it up!
  7. Bang on! Although I had to move away before I realised it. Cardiff / Birmingham are no better, which is why I moved back. No plans to leave as the grass wasn't even a shade if green elsewhere!
  8. There are also some other factors to consider as part of this as well: First, the calculation assumes that rent will remain constant for 25 years. In reality though, rents will go up, just as they have increased in the last 25 years. Second, what happens after the mortgage has been repaid. At that point the cost of home ownership will drop considerably, the cost of rent will carry on forever.
  9. Quick, put on your tinfoil hat before they steal your thoughts!
  10. I would like to thank the man who owns the white 4x4 pickup on my road. He spent a while today deliberately driving up and down the road to break up ice just so that others can drive down it safely.
  11. There is a mid century style house on the boundry between Endcliffe Hall Avenue and Endcliffe Grove Avenue, that we know simply as the "the retro house". I would live to have a look inside, I bet its full of mad men era furniture.
