  1. ClearanceAndCleanUp your tag-line link is misspelt ( http://www.clearanceandcleaup.co.uk ) thus the link does not work!
  2. If I understand your post correctly you are going to install a VIA VT6421A controller attach a high capacity sata HDD into a computer running Windows 2000 Pro OS. Windows 2000 Pro OS reached its end of life last year, which basically mean Microsoft are no-longer supporting it. Looking at the controller specs the Sata interface is Sata-1. Sata-1 will max out at 1.5Gb/per second. Most Sata-II drives should connect OK. Some have a jumber to configure for Sata-1. Good Luck
  3. Morrisons have some Strawberry flavoured cider I have never tried, but it my be an alternative to the cheap red wine.
  4. This is my last shot, I have never had the problem you are experiencing It maybe that the computer tries to load a driver that should work but doesn't The following two links give different methods of completely removing drivers from a computer. Of course you may already have tried them. the first talks about entering the mangement console and deleting the printer drivers the second talks about deleting hidden and / or unused drivers from vista/ window-7 computers http://forums.techarena.in/operating-systems/1288736.htm http://www.petri.co.il/removing-old-drivers-from-vista-and-windows7.htm
  5. Please don't, I think they are truely awful When I was in the navy I knew a guy who had an eye tattooed on each buttock another guy had Popeye's head on one buttock and Bluto's head on the other, the heads were looking at each other across the 'divide'.

  8. The following link maybe of help, however reading the comments towards the bottom of the page it may not work. I think Office 2010 is too clever for its own good, I only use it because 1) I also use Outlook, 2) Learning open-office could be just as frustrating but in a different way. http://www.dummies.com/how-to/content/how-to-disable-word-2010s-autoformat-features.html
  9. As I understand it, health professionals recommend portions of 5 fruit and veg per day because 1) They are a source of vitamins and minerals 2) They are a source of dietary fibre, which helps maintain a healthy gut and prevent constipation and other digestion problems. A high fibre diet can also reduce your risk of bowel cancer. I Doubt that you can get a high fibre diet from a pill.

  14. Can laptop-1 see and open the shared folders on laptop-2 and can laptop-2 see and open the shared folders on laptop-1? Have you done a restart on your router? I'm with BT and have BT home-hub 2, I had issues with Xp and Win-7 until I did a restart on the router.
  15. Your description if the fault is truely awful:- please try again
  16. You seem to forget the UK government bailed-out private UK investors in Iceland (Icesave) with UK taxpayers money. If you were a saver in Iceland than you woud be pleased the UK came to your aid and guarentee your savings, however why should the UK taxpayer bail-out overseas banks for people who wanted a riskier savings scheme with the reward of a higher percentage return? The UK government loaned over £2 billion, and Iceland said thanks but we ain't paying you back.

  18. I moved from Pipex to BT August 2010, The line speed was getting slower and slower, and Pipex customer service was vitually none-existant. The only good thing I can say is the connection never dropped out. I was with them for about 5 years. TalkTalk (who took over Pipex) phone me every couple of months with a "Special" deal, I ask them not to phone but they take no-notice. A few months ago a sales-rep knock on the door, saying he would like to test my phone line to see if it was good enough to be connected to their high-speed service. He did not say he was from TalkTalk that infomation took several minutes to extract from him. So beware of pimpled faced little gits wanting to enter your home and test the phone line. The recent network upgrade BT have done to the Broomhill exchange means I get a connection speed in excess of 9.5Mb/sec ( before is was about 6Mb/sec ). I know i'm paying a bit of a premium with BT but I consider them far better than TT. Use this BT web page to test what speed you might expect http://www.productsandservices.bt.com/consumerProducts/displayTopic.do?topicId=25795
  19. There is a 'B' road running by the allotments on Bole Hills that I often see with 'Fly Tipped' rubbish, usually matteresses and other household goods. Interestingly the rubbish is gone within a week. I've never seen anyone tipping the rubbish and I've never seen anyone removing it. It maybe someone ( probably an allotment holder ) informs the council and they quickly swing into action. The council should be making it easier to get rid of household waste, introducing restrications will only encourage more fly tipping.

  21. You ask a quite straight foward question, but there is not a straight foward answer. On this forum you will find someone will say I've used 'Whatsits' device for years and never had any problems, whilst someone else will say 'Whatsists' devices are rubbish you should get 'Wiggits' devices they have a much better build quality etc. Both sides are arguing from an experience of 5 or 6 devices. Whereas what you really want to know is out 10,000 devices (say), which manufacturer had the fewest failures over a time frame of 5 years (say). If you are studying statistics enter Mean Time Between Failure (MTBF) into your favourite search engine. Probably the first component to fail in a modern TV or computer (excluding moving parts) is an 'Aluminium Electrolytic Capacitor', there are dozens of them, when one fails its likely to take other components such as transistors and integrated circuits. At the present time I would expect a LED/LCD TV (without built in DVD or HDD drive) to last 5 years, beyond that is a bonus. However the remote control may fail after 3 years use. The little polymer buttons begin to deteriorate and leak fluid onto the circuit board disolving the printed copper circuit. So if you decide to buy a pre-owned/second hand/ refurbished TV have a close look at the Remote Control.
  22. Network settings Ensure the Windows 7 computers are set to the WORK network Ensure all computers have the same workgroup name Where the computers have the same username ensure they have the same password do not have the situation whereby there are the same username but different passwords or the same username but the absence of a password on 1 computer. Creating shared folders I usually create 1 folder with a sensible name on the root drive for windows 7 create a new folder and call it Laptop1-Shared Right-click Select properties Click the sharing tab Click Share in the dropdown box select either your username or everyone If you select Everyone you have the option of making the folder read/write Click share Click done you should be able to see the shared folder from other computers on the network

  24. You appear to be describing a classic earth loop fault some of the causes are (not in any particular order) poor earth connections of equipment signal lines crossed impendances of input and output sources mismatched open input signal line Long signal cable between output device and input device Pick-up from nearby mains cable or mains equipment (especially transformers) Things to try without any signal lead connected is mains hum recorded. answer should be No with signal lead connected ( say 0.5 metre ) but not connectecd to the source is mains hum recorded. answer is usually yes; the cable is acting as an antenna, when touching signal cable end the mains hum usually increases. When touching the body of the camera is mains hum recorded. If yes, this suggests a poor earth connection. Not including the mixing desk is what other equipment is connected to the camera (output to monitor and or speakers) Can the camera be powered from batteries only. Link below about mains hum http://www.technicaladvice.co.uk/sound_system_advice/how_to_get_rid_of_hum
