  1. There are at least four licensing verisons of Windows OS 1) OEM volume: installed on the computer by the manufacturer, when the machine dies so does the operating system 2) OEM system builder:,purchased at the time of components, when the machine dies so does the OS 3) Retail package: when the machine dies the OS can be transfered to another computer 4) Corporate / Enterprise: available only to large organisations, there are penalties for any organisation distributing an OS without due regard to the licenseing agreement. all the above require some form of activation usually via Microsoft servers with the use of a product key. Anyone offering cheap or heavily discounted Microsoft products is probably trying to rip you off! So whats the worse that could happen: all your computer equipment confiscated and destroyed, heavy fine, if its your first offence then probably suspended sentence. Subsequent offence imprisonment, lose your job disgrace on your family. Hardly worth it, is it?

  5. Your description suggests that Outlook is blocking suspicious messages The following link provides info on how to turn off the junk filter http://www.outlook-tips.net/outlook-email/disable-outlook-junk-mail-filter/ The reason the messages are not appearing in your junk folder maybe because you are configured as POP3 (but thats pure speculation on my part). I have a gmail account thats configured as IMAP. I run Office 2010 and I've turned off the filter as described in the link just to see what happens. Sorry I cant be more helpful

  7. I have 2 compact cameras both of which are a couple of years old, the first an Olympus X-890, cost about £80.00, as a point and shoot camera its RUBBISH. the second is a Panasonic DMC-FS62, cost about £130.00 which is quite good. So if I was buying another point and shoot camera, I would look at the Panasonic range and read the reviews. http://www.cameras.co.uk/details/panasonic-digital-cameras.cfm

  11. If I understand correctly (inferred from the messages) the OP thinks there is a problem with the internet connection, so when trying to test download speed RegClean Pro was inadvertantly downloaded, installed and run, on completion RegClean Pro indicated there was lots of errors. I have a Windows-7 machine I use just for trying out software, I keep a backup image of HDD so in the event of complete software failure I can re-install the OS to a known state. Below are my notes on RegClean Pro The test machine OS is up-to-date and the lastest version of CCleaner (3.12) is installed and has been run. Computer restarted. Connect to Speedtest web site download and run RegClean Pro A couple of browser windows are opened, wanting me to download 'Babylon' The browser is closed down. RegClean Pro takes less than 10 minutes to run, and reports a total of 229 errors. On closer inspection some of the errors relate to 'Babylon' others relate to missing links or files. Re-launching the Browser, the home page appears to have been set to Search.Babylon.Com Babylon, its related browser toolbar and RegClean Pro can be uninstalled via programs and features but you have to reset the browser home page. During the unistall process several browser windows are displayed wanting to keep Babylon and RegCleanPro. In my opinion RegClean Pro is a mild form of ScareWare and should be avoided.

  17. I'm with BT mainly because the previous ISP were good at taking the money but hopeless at providing service. BT are a little more expensive than the others but I reckon your Silver Surfer would prefer to have the same company provide both phone and broadband without the hassle of switching. I'm not a fan of T#lkT#lk, their sales techniques smack of sharp practise. I had one rep saying he wanted to enter my house and test the phoneline to see if it was good enough to connect to their server, he did not say he was from T#lkT#lk, that infomation was difficult to prise from the spotty faced little oik!

  23. The sony web site only shows drivers for Vista 32-bit for your laptop which verison of Win-7 did you install? the site also says (note the word majority) ....'that the majority of Windows Vista drivers will work under a retail version of Windows 7' and ....'Sony cannot assume any responsibility for stability and performance issues after this upgrade' I cannot find anything on the Sony site saying the camera will not work but they clearly think there are issues
