Are snacks and drinks overpriced at the cinema?
*Twinkle* replied to Nagel's topic in General Discussions
I think some of you miss the point here. No-one is forcing you to buy the snacks. They are offered for sale at these prices, I have yet to see anyone forced to purchase a snack before entry to the cinema. Yes, it would be convenient if the snacks available were more reasonably priced, and would possibly encourage more sales and less sneaking in of cheaper snacks. Is this something the cinema could trial for say a month? Other than grumbling about these convenient snacks with inconvenient prices, your only other options are to sneak snacks in/eat before/just watch the film like you're paying to do! -

Claret has made a very good point. On the flip side, I often get chased around to be given money. People don't like leaving it on the table incase it gets swiped. I'm never offended, its received very well indeed

I can't understand why anyone would tip before receiving their food/seeing the service they receive. For all they know, their order may come out wrong/they may get forgotten about and be waiting ages... A tip is a thankyou/reward for good service in my opinion, therefore it fits in at the end of the meal when you pay. I waitress part time in addition to my full time job. It's easy for me, having waitressed for around 5 years now, however its not easy being on your feet/dashing around on the minimum wage. Tips provide an incentive and make the wage bearable.

It was tough and I had to make sacrifices, but I'm coming out on top now... Especially sanity wise! There wasnt that much difference after tax anyway, but I couldnt justify being desperately unahppy for a few hundred quid more a month! With reagrds to that sinking feeling on a Sunday afternoon... I used to have that. Infact I dont think it ever used to leave my body all week! I don't feel nervous about going in to work anymore or scared about what the day may entail.

I feel bad for those of you who hate your jobs... You have to spend a loooong time there every week and it must have a knock of effect on your mood/outlook. I had a job I hated every living minute of... It really got me down. So I had to take steps to change it, which meant taking a 50% paycut - but I've never looked back. I couldnt stand being that unhappy for no amount of money.

Quite enjoy it actually! I feel really valued and appreciated having being promoted to such a specialist role after only a few months of working for the firm... Its nice to be noticed! Approachable team and plenty of support whilst I learn Can't wait til my case load takes off and I can be put onto the bonus scheme! wahooo!

Aww this sounds familiar -
6 hours Dunno really, just try not to make it your focus... There's nothing worse than coming on too strong. I know its something you really want, to be settled, in a relationship etc... But I can't stress enough about keeping busy and shifting your focus to something else... And when it does happen you will be in a much better mind set

Yeah... eww so sickly

gutted, this sounds like something i'd like! I took up the "Graze" nuts and seeds offer which has been nice... Desk time munchies

I've taken on an extra part time job in addition to my full time job so that I can save more money... I've also drawn up a budget for each week so that I'm not spending willy-nilly on my lunch hour, also, learning to "window shop" helps too... I try to take soup in/left over tea so that I aint spending as much on lunch etc.
