  1. I paid about £40 from eBay as a broken watch. Took me few days to make it able to run sustainably now. But it’s still like 5 minutes error per day, which isn’t good. I assume the cost will come close to £100 when I got all the right part and get it run correctly. From the economy point of view, it isn’t worthy. Consider how much time I spent on it, I mean J.G. Graves watches on eBay rarely exceed £200. But I want one that I can wear like an every day watch, not something sit in the display cabinet.
  2. Not sure here is the right place to post or not, but I’m so excited about this. It’s a late version of JG Graves small ladies pocket / fob watch. I believe it’s one of the few last patches of watch sold under Graves name since it’s no longer British made movement, instead it’s a Swiss made FHF movement inside, pin set / stem wind. It has been modified into a wrist watch, possibly during WW1 and worn by one of the foot soldiers. I have been looking for this for quite a few years. Graves mostly made large pocket watch for man, but they did make few ladies pocket watch. And it’s even rarer to have one with winding on 3 o’clock. The movement is in OK shape, runs about right when laid flat, but quite a bit faster (5 min per day) when wearing, maybe one on the jewel bearing has worn out. It’s a FHF movement so shouldn’t be difficult to find parts. I always want a wearable piece of Sheffield history that I can carry everyday, and here it is.
  3. 1: electronic or manual adjustment? 2: if it is electronic, 2 button or 3 button?
  4. Is there any vintage Porsche club in Sheffield? Also my 911 is a bit poor in condition, which I plan to rebuild it myself. Has anyone worked on a G-series 911 before and I may need some guidance.
  5. It do depends on how you judge the word ' classic', cos some people may think a Peel P50 is a classic while other may think that's just a piece of junk anyways... So, for a general terms of 'classic' that most people would accept, they should be: 1), The influence, the way of how it changed people's understanding of cars. Examples: Ford Type-T, VW beetle, original Mini.. 2), The uniqueness in mechanical design, which make the car like no others. Examples: Porsche 911, Citroën 2CV. 3), A timeless good looking, by all means. Examples: Jaguar E-type, Ferrari Daytona, Citroën DS 4), Historical events they used to take part in, well, most of these might be racing. Example: Ford GT40 ----------- I don't say rareness is a necessary term of a classic car, but it is an important consideration for a valuable car. Well, most of the classic cars now are expensive and valuable, but not all the expensive old cars can called classics.. Also, it don't have to be old, since the words here isn't 'vintage car'. Again lot of these classics are good old cars, but sometimes quite a recent car can be a classic as well. Example: Mazda/ Autozam AZ1, Mazda RX7, Honda NSX.
  6. Seems British troops lack of helicopters and carrier, so they have to use vehicle instead.
  7. I just brought a bow and arrows this afternoon.. I was wondering whether there is place I can do this regular, safe and also without spending much. many thanks... ========== anyway, it's range and power is more than I’ve expected.. think that I cant do this in my yard...
  8. The 747 crashed in Nov/2000 is neither Chinese airline nor Taiwan airlines, it was a Singapore airline. The factor of this accident was reported as duo to the strong wind happened in its took off.. Apparently, the maintenance of airliners running crossocean airlines are responsed by their original manufacturer..
  9. As being a foreigner in this country, sometimes I dont really mind being called 'coloured' if it only stand for nothing else than the colour of my skin. Respect comes from something internal, not just the words that people used.
  10. There're many ways to use P2P file transfer, some new p2p softwares can use different codes and non-stationary ports in order to avoid the ISPs‘ monitoring. Anyway, it dosn't make P2P users impossible to be catched, but say that if all your internet I/O ports has been monitored... I just worried the result if some internet terrorisms get control of some ISPs’ serves. Actually, such things just happened in China few months ago, an online vedio / advertisment software server (something like RealPlayer that only used by chinese) had been hacked, and resulted a slow down of half the Chinese internet service.
  11. Dose that means ISPs and government can monitor our TCP/UDP ports anytime they want?
  12. Just behind the Sheffield station, there was a brick between the station and Super Tram way. The side of the brick towards the Sheffield station basically 10 meters above the station, but there were some platforms there which can be stand on. There was a breach on the brick just beside the crossway of the tramline and Shrewsbury road which just can put a hand on, climb over it and there is the highest platform. Stand on it... Perfect view of Sheffield city center. It was easy to climb to that platform, but not easy to come back.... Search " 53.375498, -1.461718 " in google map, and there is the place.
  13. Seems interesting... So....How can it be fair?
  14. Thanks... I'm an oversea student here, in university~ Still trying to learn more English...
