  1. In the heart of Hautes Combrailles at an altitude of 700m, this old cottage was built early in the 19th century. Fully renovated, it is ideal for a quiet and restful stay in a rural setting. Numerous lakes, rivers and forests as well as the volcanic hills of the chaine des puys provide scope for enjoyable walks and mountain biking in this area. This cottage can host 4 to 6 persons in 95m2. It is attached to the holiday home of the owners. Please visit the website at: http://gitedejeangouloux.free.fr

  6. Hi, I have recently done some renovation in my property and I'm left with a lot of discarded pieces of wood, metal and debris. I don't exactly what to do with all that. Is it free to bring it into a scrapyard ? Where can I find a scrap yard in/around Sheffield (I am in S6) ? Thanks for your help.
  7. Thanks for the answers. I am in Walkley. I am going to check if there is a drain in the cellar. What cost we are looking at if there isn't drain and we need to install a pump ?
  8. Hello, In the house I've just bought, the washing machine used to be in the kitchen but I am considering putting mine in the cellar. Is it feasible to setup the water installation in order to be able to plug the washing machine in the cellar ? Can anyone advise a good plumber that could provide us with advise and quote for this type of job ? Thanks
  9. That's a good point. We checked and the current licence is catering Class B1 ... I don't know exactly what that means.
  10. Thanks everyone for these very helpful comments. Sham71, it is actually a 1st floor flat next to the shop (not directly above). Do you think problems with a mortgage apply in this case ? It seems that the shop had a licence to sell food in the past but it is close at the moment and I am wondering if they need a new license to re-open.
  11. I am thinking of making an offer for a house adjacent to a small commercial property. The commercial property is unused at the moment but I guess there are good chances that it would be used in the future. I heard that it is difficult to obtain a mortgage for such a property. Does anyone know more about that ? If it is true, I suppose that it would be more difficult to sell house later. Anyone with some experience with a property next to a small shop ?
  12. Does anyone has any idea of the price to change single glazed windows to double glazed windows ?
  13. Today on the BBC news website, there is an article called: " Housing gloom 'worst in 30 years' " What do you think of this article ? (I am not allowed to post the link to the BBC page, since I am a new user of the forum but if any older member would like to post the link it would be great)
  14. I am looking for a property to buy in Sheffield but I would like to be certain that that I am not going to buy something in a flood prone area. Does anyone know where I can find a map of Sheffield flood prone areas ? or a map of areas affected by last year great flood ? Thanks,
