  1. Yes I was, remember a couple of them - Peter Hiil, Dicky Akers, and Carol Savoury. Deborah Smith, Karen Walsh, Stuart Hibberd, Philip Jessop were some others in the same year.
  2. I Remember them all! Mr Matthews did sail close to the wind - he once asked me to stand on the cabinets under the windows in the art room to stick snowflakes on so he could look at my legs! bit of a perv!
  3. Thanks for that Gail - they go back a long way!
  4. Hi gailhobson I assume you are related to Denis? Perhaps you could let him know that a friend from years ago (Don Mallinder) passed away about 18 months ago. Thanks
  5. My most recent brush with the 'doctor's receptionist' was a couple of weeks ago when I needed an emergency appointment. Of course there were no appointments 'until Friday' four days away - wasn't sure if I could keep the severe pain until then so off I went to the walk-in centre at the Hallamshire! An hour later, doctor seen, pills in hand off I went!! Pain had gone by Friday!
  6. It sounds like it's going to be a nice centre - does anyone know if it's going to be a mini retail park and if so what shops will there be. Like the sound of a water feature - things are looking up for us north Sheffielders! I've only just heard about this but I will certainly try it out (when's it happening?)- it's as close as Hillsborough for me and if the parking's free that'll be a bonus.
  7. I left Chaucer in 1978 and remember all the above sports car lovers - Me Matthews was my form techer for 2 years - his was a blue MG!
  8. I must admit to not knowing anything about the proposed redevelopment of Stocksbridge but have to say I have lived in north Sheffield for over 30 years and have always had the opinion that Stocksbridge was somewhere you just passed through to get to Manchester! No offence meant, but it appears dirty, tired and run down and has done for as long as I can remember. The steel industry which once thrived is now just a blot on the landscape. I suppose we have become a nation of shoppers, but I am sure the people of Stocksbridge and surrounding local areas would appreciate any extra facilities on offer - perhaps they could then live and work in their own town! I can't make any other comment on what the redevelopment entails as I don't know the details but I'm sure someone can fill me in. I appreciate you are proud of your town but I don't think it has ever been a tourist destination. I think preserving heritage anywhere is vital but the steel site......?
  9. Has anyone had any spooky happenings in the new houses on the old middlewood hospital sight?
