  1. not being judgemental at all, Ive not heard back from that one yet so could have got it. Im just saying that in the current climate there are more people going for jobs that in other circumstances they wouldnt have gone for.
  2. I am a graduate Engineer and so I'm trying to get a job in my field, either a graduate engineer training programme or entry level engineer work. The jobs I am applying for get applied for by hundreds of people in some cases, which you wouldn't think would happen because it is a skilled job. The reason I believe that these jobs are getting so many applications is because there are thousands if not hundreds of thousands of skilled workers who in the last 5-6 years during the recession have been working in unskilled jobs such as shelf stacking, but now are starting to want to get back into there chosen career path. I went to an interview the other week where the person before me was around 50 and the person coming in after me was around 40. This was for a job that in engineering terms was low paid and definitely the bottom rung of the ladder. and yet here were two people who must have been in the engineering profession before and yet were looking at getting a job that must have been below what they once worked. The problem this presents is that people like me, a graduate, are struggling to get work because there are thousands of people with years of experience going up for jobs against me, when I only have one years work experience that is not always relevant to the jobs I am applying for. and there cases are not alone, one of my neighbours was made redundant a few years ago at the age of 55, knowing that there wasnt many other jobs out there in his profession he now works in Sainsburys. He says that he is by no means alone in his situation of working a job that you are over qualified for. However if you put yourself in the employers shoes, who would you rather employ, the 55 year old with a mortgage and family who will turn up every day and has good references or the 20 year old looking for there first job. I think there will be enough unskilled jobs out there in the near future once the job market gets back on its feet fully and everyone is not only in the job they want but the job they should have.
  3. Hi, my rear brakes are horrible at the moment and need looking at, I know what the problem is and how to fix it. Im just having a problem sourcing all the parts I need. I have bought the fitting kit for the breaks which has all the springs etc, however it does not have the small wedge/self adjuster that is most needed as it seems to be all warn out and not functioning. http://i80.photobucket.com/albums/j188/GiorgioGenesis/mk3reardrums.jpg the part I am after is the wedge shape with a spring attached to the bottom, located to the left of the piston at the top of the brakes. Hope someone can point me in the right direction. The car is an 08 polo 1.2 (mk4 facelift I believe but could be mk5)
  4. that was a bit of backlash though to all that had gone on before, and 18 years of the torries. although it is probably true, but if votes were not to change much over the next few years then the conservatives would win outright without scotland.
  5. if Scotland gains independence there wont be any problem for the Conservatives as they will win pretty much every election after as Labour will lose Edinburgh and Glasgow which balance out the domination that the conservatives have in rural areas.
  6. you can see it throughout history and across the world that in times of crisis and or difficulty, whether that be war, political unrest or financial difficulties that radical groups appear and cause trouble. I think with the recession all but history now and with job prospects looking up these groups will disappear as they have no grounds to create an argument, as you cant blame immigrants for the lack of jobs when you can go out and get a job. I think we will also see UKIP lose the small gains it made last year.
  7. theres a couple I know of that my family have used and had good experiences with, but also it depends on the specific carer you get in our experience. We had one company for years with no problems untill they sent a couple of women round we hadnt had before and they were not only incompetent but also dangerous and covered up certain things. What area of the city are you in?
  8. Ill just echo what has been said. Im on Avast and have used it for about ten years, its probably the best free one out there at the moment offering a good compromise between security (which is still very good) and running in the background. I play lots of online games so dont really want pop-ups in the middle. Also though like gillybear said, if you are just web browsing safe and legitimate sites then you more than likely not need any extra virus protection software.
  9. Ive had some netgear ones for about 3 years now and had mixed success. I bought them when I was living in a rented property and they would be ok but would drop out now and again. However I know use them at home and for about 2 years they havnt dropped out at all, never had a problem with them and they are far better than wireless for gaming and stable speeds. They only reason I could think of for the difference is that the rented house had old wiring with the old black fuse boxes, but my parents house was re-wired around 4 years ago and so very modern wiring. SO I would check how old the wiring is in your house.
  10. cos they're everywhere now. 10 years ago I saw maybe 1 badger every two years, now I can see badgers 4-5 times a week certain times of year.
  11. yeh im on that, it doesnt look as good as whatsapp or as shiny but the features are far better imo
  12. ha, yeh like facebook stuck to its no ads from when it started.
  13. I think you can blame the rich and powerful for the housing crisis as well as not enough affordable housing being built, but at the end of the day I think the main problem is the "baby boom" generation like my parents who now own 3 houses and renting two of them out. And they are by no means alone in this, out of there friendship group probably 50% own at least 2 houses. Because of this there are less houses on the market to buy and the rental prices continue to rise year on year. Rent is also a massive problem, rental prices are absurd at the moment. my parents are just about to rent a house out after a referb for £600 per month. In my opinion the house isnt worth this much but because other houses in the area are renting at the we will rent it out at that.
  14. I would look at gaming mice. They are always better made and more comfortable than any other on the market. something like this may be ok. http://www.ebuyer.com/273442-gigabyte-m6900-7-button-optical-gaming-mouse-usb-gm-m6900
  15. I think its mainly this. When i first passed my driving test around 8 years ago now, you could often see women hanging around near the roads around the Sheffield Window Centre (sorry to drag your name into this I just cant remember the name of the area) And yet now when you drive past there, you cant see any at all. However I have recently moved house. The new place is situated in a what you would consider a decent part of the city and is situated in S10. However I often see a couple of women hanging around and getting into cars 3-4 times a day and when I have come back at night I have seen quite a few "couples" going at it in there cars.
  16. Hi, I've been sent a couple of Beta codes for the Titanfall Beta on the Xbox one and as I don't have one I don't need them. So if anyone's interested then send me a PM. EDIT: Gone now.
  17. I cant speak for the HTC one but my dad has the S4 as well as my girlfriends sister and the battery life is atrocious. My dad is certainly not a heavy user, maybe 1-2 texts a day and maybe a little web browsing and yet the battery runs out more or less before the day ends.
  18. The HTC one is coming to the end of its time, I believe they will be releasing a new model at some point in the near future. However it is still a solid phone and I would choose it over the Samsung S4. Why aren't you going with the iPhone 5s
  19. I have never had any issues with them at all, always had great customer service. I've bought quite a bit off of them as well over the years, and had a few faulty components which have been replaced no problem.
  20. They get bad reviews on the internet so wouldnt go with them. http://www.overclockers.co.uk are a decent site if you are looking for a pre-built system. Although to be honest there is very little reason why you cant build your own pc nowadays. They are pretty much plug in the components and turn on. All the cables will only go in there own slots and then all you need is a windows disc.
  21. If the pc has detected the device then the phone should either open automatically with a pop up box appearing on the desktop. If not, try looking at the 'computer' where the C: drive and disc drives appear. Open up the phone file and there should be a folder which says photos or something along those lines.
  22. The Bose 'soundbar' is pretty good, punches well above its weight without the need for a separate sub-woofer, V-pricey though. A mate of mine has one so cant speak of day to day use, but for a film it was pretty darn good.
  23. dont abbreviate, moderators don't seem to like it. There should be lots of riding stables etc, out that way, near Grenoside etc. I cant think of the names off the top of my head but I may be able to esquire as to the availability of any stables.
  24. Theres one upto £6mil now, as has been said they probably wont pay. Theres probably a very giddy person out there almost wetting themselves.
  25. Just sounds to me like a lack of discipline when the dog is misbehaving. I would have it on a long lead, and when the dog starts to play too roughly then give a pull back on the lead. If that doesnt work then you bring the dog in close and walk it next to you as punishment. Hopefully in time the dog will get the message that it doesnt get a free run when it misbehaves and so will stop. It will take a while i would have thought and will annoy you as much as the dog but in the end will be better.
