  1. Hi all, A book on the life and ring career of my grandfather, 1920s and '30s boxing Wonderboy Nipper Pat Daly, whose name came up on this thread, is now available to buy. As well as chronicling my grandfather's career, the book is packed with details on the British fight scene of the '20s and '30s and resurrects many of the sport's long-forgotten characters and old-time fight venues. Nipper Pat fought Sheffield boxers Johnny Cuthbert, Dick Inkles, Tiny Smith and Jack/Fred Bromley, and there are details on all of them within the book. For anyone who's interested, a free sample of the introduction and first chapter can be read online here: http://nipperpatdaly.co.uk/nipperbooksample.pdf Or the book can be purchased securely here: http://nipperpatdaly.co.uk/nipperboxingbook.html Any questions, please ask.
  2. Hi Kingfisher - only just spotted your message. I've read a lot about Ginger Sadd, and by all accounts he was a real craftsman in the ring. Did you see many other fights in the 1940s (or earlier)? And how would you say the fighters of that era compare with those around today?
  3. Bruce Woodcock was around slightly later than that (1940s and 1950s). He was British, Empire and European heavyweight champion. If you Google his name you should find plenty of info about him. There's also some footage of him (if I remember correctly) on britishpathe.com.
  4. Hi Paul, I think there might be some confusion with the Roberto Duran thing. I don't think Duran would know my grandfather, perhaps he's mixed him up with another fighter. I would love to hear from Arthur Cuthbert - have PM'd you my e-mail address. Cheers, Alex.
  5. Hi, Dick Inkles was another opponent of my grandfather's. I think, for the majority of his career, Inkles fought at flyweight. Have sent you a PM regarding this. Cheers, Alex.
  6. Hi Paul, i'm the grandson of one of Cuthbert's opponents, Nipper Pat Daly. Would love to get in touch with Arthur Cuthbert. Is there any chance you could PM me his contact details? BTW I think there might be some confusion with the Al Brown thing, as Al Brown died in 1951.
