i run a fishery and we are affiliated to the angling trust i for 1 am glad of this as if we have any problems with our legal obligations of our fishery we are protected .the normal everyday angler doesnt see that side of it and some probably never will theres always different angles to look at it .i also buy my license every year and i course fish and carp fish if i need to by a 3 rod license i would without moaning about it .if the cost puts a lot of people off then i hope they dont go moaning if they get caught at probably under a £1 a week you will always get some apposed to it.as for the single option it may well have been a good idea,but a lot of people would have still bent the rules and stuck another rod out we all know it happens.i see it first hand most days on the fishery i run

a lot of general anglers always seem to complain about the cost of the licence and always moan when an increase is added .i run a fishery and the amount of help the ea would give to us is great they are always on hand to advise they can source plants and all manner of vegetation for our fishery at little or no cost they are even willing to drain our fishery take all fish and look after them then bring back health checked free of charge if we need it ,they all so do a lot more besides so i for one will never knock the cost of a licence

everyone has an opinoin thats everyones right i fished at aston for many years and the bigger the carp the better ,i have done carp fishing for prodominantly 25 years ,i recently bought a match set up to break the waiting up,but in saying that i wouldnt fish aston not for me ,i like the fishing where you dont know what your going to catch i also enjoy changing my methods in order to catch a different species .i know there was different species in aston ponds as said in my post ,but predominantly now the main species is carp which at the numbers that are put in bully most other fish and become the dominant species.i know they hold matches on there and get good weights but the weight are made up of carp i bet a winning match is not made up of bream tench and roach.and i ref to the bad cond of fish because the fish i saw where diseased and looked in a poor state of health (health fish healthy fishery) yes i can indeed dip a fag end in a dip and catch

far to commercialized for me nowadays and its all for the money.i use to fish aston for years some years back .i use to enjoy catching silvers and tench ,and fishing what was the stable pond catching chub and roach.nowadays up there it seems all its about is catching carp in man made puddles.i visited the venue in summer (not fishing)not my seen ,but was dissapointed with what i saw there where some new ponds at the back of the main specemin pond ,these srips of water are 100 yds long with a peg every 15 ft to maximise angling with very little space to fish in (all you will need is 3 metres ) the ponds where full with small carp in a very poor state of health .this seems to be the norm nowadays ,give me a gravel pit or river or an established fishery anyday ,where i can catch a mixed variety of species everyday ,not just catch 1 species which will have been overstocked and overfed ,most of these fish you could catch on a fag end
