  1. Check Sheffield college website. http://www.sheffcol.ac.uk/courses/list/?lp=3 its a good start of what is available to you. ---------- Post added 10-08-2015 at 15:32 ---------- http://www.sheffcol.ac.uk/Adult-Learners/Returning-to-Education
  2. Seriously shes calm, friendly, flexible hours and super easy going. Dont give up on learning manual, please dont. Its all about the timing and being comfortable with what to do next. Laura is super patient and never yells. Please give her a ring!! I had an instructor who had me in tears after every lesson and its just money down the drain with people like that.
  3. Just a heads up - her bike has been found and back with its owner. Some slight damage but the bike is still usable.
  4. I like Indeed as they work like google and kinda pull together all the ads together in one search. Youll still be redirected to apply through other sites, but it kinda makes it easier Also try the universal jobmatch site through the DWP. you dont have to be on JSA to search
  5. Thats probably why you made so much. Its like working the summers in the Hamptons, not far from where I grew up..... The higher end places, you can always make decent bank and it will keep you going in the low months. Being in the burbs of NYC knew lots of people who worked in diners and chain places and got stiffed a lot. (I lived in NYS for most of life and never seen a surcharge added to a bill even while eating in the most touristy parts of NYC) Tips just non-existent by the end of the night as well. I will say anyone who is half decent will always be alright, but its still not easy work.
  6. I just wanted to state, in most restaurants in the US also apply a min charge on large groups of 6 or more. 15% is generally the minimum added to most bills and clearly stated at time of booking and in the menus at the bottom of each page. I knew a few people who earned amazing money like this working in larger cities, but in the burbs, it was a struggle to survive. Young teens stiffing you, no tip at all, or wait staff being charged for incorrectly ordered meals. Then you also have places that pool tips where bar staff get a chunk of it, then host, then the server/waiter, then the bus staff. So if you break down 20% some staff see very little of that actual tip
  7. I needed a taxi the other day (about 1pm??) and tried to use Uber and they were charging 1.5% above their rate. So went with City as they were cheaper. Its not just the evenings theyre charging a premium for lack of drivers.
  8. I used her until she went on maternity leave last year.. Think shell be back to returning to lessons in October time... I know a few people who used her and passed as well. I can also recommend Laura at RED and shes based in Woodseats - who is my current instructor (hopefully only until Monday) She covers all of Sheffield as well as northern Chesterfield.. http://www.sheffieldforum.co.uk/showthread.php?t=1415050

  11. Smoke, I had the Brisket plate - which consisted of two pieces of brisket, 5 burnt ends, chips, small side of gravy, and a side of my choice. Normally, I would have thought that was nothing, but the quality of the food makes it filling.

  13. I second smoke. Went in on saturday and got the brisket platter. i barely finished half of it. soooooooooo good. if i wasnt heading out for tramlines would have asked for a take away bag.

  15. the thing is, theyre used to this with the last few years. there was no communication on why there was a delay in opening or even an apology. i tweeted them multiple times and was ignored. really how hard is it to send a message saying gate openings were delayed because of XYZ? I can understand if they said sorry, but they never did. Communication was seriously lacking
  16. Can I just say, went to the ponderosa yesterday and queued well over an hour and half, despite them saying gates opened at 5pm. We werent let in until 15 minutes before ghostpoet hit the stage. queues at the bar were ridiculous with various staff members refusing to serve because they couldnt use the iPads they were using for tills. Not all the beer was on, either, nor did the staff know what was available. Very shocking.
  17. The official app (I believe I posted it on page 3??) has all free official fringe events listed by time order (not venue)

  20. Dead easy to make... Corn meal is easy to find (or even fine polenta) I really like the Dunns River brand. http://www.food.com/recipe/cornbread-109767 is my go to recipe. i love corn muffins as well.
  21. doors normally open about the time on the ticket, depending if theres an opening act or not, first band will go on about to 8.30 then the main act at 9. if theres a club night, after the live music, the band could start at 8 and then finish about 10 to 10.30
  22. I'd kill for a Panera Bread over DD or other things, but dont think the British would take to it.
  23. Mod Note: If you wish to help, please PM the user Closing. Thank you
