  5. Sheffield Dog Walking Group Invites like minded dog lovers along for fun social group dog walks, organised by experienced dog walkers and dog trainers. The Sheffield dog walking group has been set up in association with Victoria Cooper of People & Dogs, along with Chris Bird of Hiking Hounds. We have realised that a group gathering of dog owners who can socialise together on an organised dog walk would be a great way to spend a Sunday morning. Other walking groups might restrict dog owners and not allow their dogs to attend their group sessions and some owners might feel isolated in where they can walk in safety. The purpose of this new group is to achieve a friendly social atmosphere amongst our members of all ages, who in turn can create friendships between other owners and their 4 legged friends. We aim to guide you on differing routes in distance, difficulty, duration and location and a Cafe or Pub stop will hopefully be included along the way. Dogs may need to be lead walked for long periods on the walk due to livestock or any other restricting issues. This means that your dog should have had basic training and to be proficient at lead walking as not to upset other walkers in the group and other people. Failing that, the use of a Halter or Stop Pull harness, can make the walk more comfortable. You will also need a long training type lead or a Long Line. Please note that dogs with serious behaviour issues such as aggression would not be able to attend due to safety reasons and for the comfort of all members. Although Victoria will be present, unfortunately she cannot offer in depth behavioural advice on the walk as it is not the purpose of the group. However if your dog does present issues then brief advice can be requested a long with either the request for group training courses or behavioural 1-1 help as required. Sheffield dog walking group is run on a membership basis, anyone wanting to be involved will need to fill out the registration form and pay an annual membership fee. Please email or call on the details below:- For all general enquiries : Chris Bird on 07517468974 For questions regarding dog suitability: Victoria Cooper on 01142 747665 Website: http://www.lancastermedia.co.uk/sdwg All emails are to be sent through to: sheffielddogwalkinggroup@hotmail.com

  7. Going back to the start of this Thread if someone knows of a trainer it looks like there is definate demand for a Sheffield club.
  8. Hi Geerarffe When you say lots of experience what do you mean, do you compete with your own dogs at competition level or is it something that you just do for fun? Chris
  9. seems I have started a interesting conversation, the one thing I do find is that when people say they want to do agility, it always seems like they want to compete and that you must train on the top spec equipment. Are people not allowed to do this for fun on not such expensive equipment. I don't mean to take the competive side of things away but to be honest I just want to start something where I can have fun with my dog and meet others with the same outlook. Not to be drilled by a instructor if my dog dosen't make every contact point! That was the whole point in this thread to find a qualified trainer that can come and overlook our sessions to make sure it is all safe and we learn a few of the basic skills and earn themselves a few quid in the process
  10. Ouch that is some serious walking time teeny, I have a few days in the week with other stuff keeping me busy till 10pm and all work and no play and all! if I spend more time with my four legged friends I think I may start to evolv in to one, I already smell like one most of the time. lol
  11. Hold on I am a very responsible person and would never endanger an animals welfare. Having worked as a walker for nearly 2 years I am fully aware of the issues that go on and the abuse that is caused. I would only proceed with this if I had all the correct pieces in order. As a qualified trainer would be present and not just a bunch of friends doing it feel that it is the right steps forward.
  12. Thanks Helenasq very kind, I will do the same for you. Chris
  13. Hi Teeny that would be great, not sure abut the 7am walk though as I work quiet late on some days so that early would not really work. As I said my first slot is about 9am, Please pass on my details to see what she thinks. Thanks again and like the others I will have you on my contact list and pass work your way. Chris
  14. Hi Lotti, not really sure what your asking if its not to help out with the training side of things as its what I am really in need of? do you have people who are interested in doing it, I have source plans for most of the equipment and will be looking in to having it made.
  15. well if I can get numbers and contacts I am more than happy to work on finding some one and sorting it out. Do you have a group that are looking to do agility? if so to what level just so I know how serious I would have to make it? If there are the numbers Im sure we can make it work.
