  1. I NOTE THAT PAUL LICENSE'S ARTICLE IN THE STAR IS FEATURED AGAIN TODAY AS BEING THE MOST COMMENTED UPON ARTICLE> http://www.thestar.co.uk/columnists?articleid=3902884 Lets keep it that way.
  2. good idea. Any one know someone else in the area who is in same boat... Or any retired type with a car who wants a free lunch and a pint every lunchtime.
  3. This is of course true. However now it is out in the open it is unlikely to be a vote winner as 86% of the electorate seem to suggest. We will see...
  4. I will check out both. What sort of food do they do lunchtimes?
  5. THANKS They already do White Swan once a week. The Shepley is an interesting option. What is food like? and what does it cost?
  6. Sounds good. Will give the Bowshaw a try. The Blackamoor is all boarded up. Biggest problem is cost of taxis. They go out one day per week to the carvery at Moorlands at Owler Bar. Excellent value carvery but taxi costs them £20. As they struggle cooking for themselves they eat out 5 days per week. Taxi fares form a large part of their budget.
  7. I was rather taken aback by the front page headline in the Gazette. "Hospice Plan Hit by Sale Snag"...... SNAG!!!!!!! IT IS A SAFEGUARD PUT IN THE CHARITIES ACT TO PREVENT A CHARITY BEING DEFRAUDED BY ITS TRUSTEES.
  8. My parents are both into their 80s but like to dine out at lunchtime. They live Greenhill area and enjoy carveries and pub grub. They take taxis about 5 days each week to various pubs. Anyone got any recommendations? The further away from Westwick Road the more they pay for Taxi. ANYONE ELSE IN A SIMILAR SITUATION.
  9. However as the Duchess of Norfolk doesn't live in Sheffield having support from the Duke of Darnall would carry more weight
  10. And just when they thought it couldn't get any worse the Gazette falls through the letterbox. Not a lot of seasonal good cheer in there for the council or St Lukes. Front page colour photo of council tipper dumping in the park and the report from the Star (slightly rehashed) of the Friday meeting. Poor old Captain Kirk will be getting an attack of the Klingons.
  11. The really annoying thing is that when Labour came back into power in Sheffield, Jan Wilson appologised to the people. She said that in future they would listen. They didn't listen in 1998 when they were trying to sell our parkland. They aren't listening now, unless they just take no notice of what they hear.
  12. Interesting meeting on Friday when Charity Commission were here to answer questions. Meeting chaired by Cabourn. Nor exactly impartial however Bearing in mind that Graves Park is a charity in its own right, the chairman spent the entire meeting probing the Charity Commission for a loophole that would allow St Lukes to move into the park. The number of times when he mentioned the best interests of the Graves Park Charity was the same as the number of left big toes I have on my right hand.
  13. Oh.. Saw Roger at the Moon on Saturday. Damned fine band to see for nowt!!!
  14. Phil Brodie Band are a tremendous act. Even if you ignore the fact that Phil can really cut it, anyone who turns up at a gig with a 1964 Fender Stratocaster, a 1958 Gibson and a 1963 Telecaster has to be worth seeing.
  15. The Stone House on Church Street was bought by Duncan Gilmour's in 1917
