  1. Next year we will have a barbeque winter:hihi:
  2. Yes its incredible isn't it!? Didn't put on a pound over xmas - first time ever. I normally gain 7llbs
  3. Thanks for that - I forgot I'd got a fair old stock of bacon Bacon and satsumas make quite a nice breakfast
  4. Possibly....but then maybe a vagrant 's diet is quite good, as they seem to manage out in the cold better than the average person. Stopping eating bread was the best thing for me - lost loads of weight and eat anything I like without putting it back on. Its a fair sacrifice for me. Anyone want to buy a breadmaker?
  5. I love the fact that on ITV1 we had the weather that said 'rising tempretures and generally getting better' followed by an ad for GMTV on the lines of ' Its getting worse and we're all doomed' complete with a roving reporter carrying a candle and looking like willie winky (whilst lit by all the camera lights obviously, and having travelled across the country) They really like to whip things up don't they? Never happier than trying to generate mass hysteria. Think I might alternate between Toby and Chris Evans in the morning instead!
  6. i think I spent too much time with my grandmother who lived through the war!
  7. Hmmm Don't usually eat sandwiches so that won't be necessary. Providing the gas lasts I could stir fry the nuts and eat with a bit of xmas cake and cheese, supplemented by a multivit. Could last a while like that. After the xmas stuff is gone I'll move over to tins of beans tuna and custard, not necessarily together though.
  8. Surely many, like me, are still wading through the salted nuts and after eights. Still have enough food to last about 12 weeks!
  9. Hi My advice, on the instructor front would be to get a young female instructor. Preferably one that has only been doing a short while. Vicky at passing place was exceptional but sadly she's no longer teaching.
  10. You shouldn't give up. I got ridiculously nervous in the test so much so that my instructor couldn't understand what I was doing. I failed 16 times and spent thousands on lessons before taking my boyfriend's (a doctor) advice and taking a betablocker on the day. Passed with flying colours on the 17th test and have never looked back! I'm not a nervous driver and have driven all over the place, including abroad. I was 35 when I passed, I think I started taking lessons about 5 years before that. It's the best thing I ever did. Please don't give up, you only fail if you give up trying. I'm sure you could do it with a little bit of help.
  11. Have just driven from Granville Road to London Road and back. It was snowing rather prettily (not going to fall into the heavy or not debate) and has settled but now appears to have stopped. Fortunately, like many people, I bought enough food before xmas to feed an army and so we are getting by on a balanced diet of after eights and salted nuts!
  12. I don't think they are referring to the lost revenue - people die as well in this weather but people also have fun, build snowmen and spend more time with their families, rally together etc. Correct me if I'm wrong but I think 'wishing for snow' posters are merely making a lighthearted comment
  13. good luck, whether its tomorrow or another day xx
  14. What have I missed? Is there a bread and butter pudding competition going on?
  15. encourage your cat to go outside to the toilet
  16. I actually liked the adverts in westside and grapevine. They give you ideas of what you could spend your money on and I would use the businesses advertising in there. sadly now I live in S2, despite having more spending power they no longer wish to advertise to me because, I presume, I don't live in the right postcode, despite being much nearer to the grapevine office. Wouldn't it be better to allow people to opt in or out of delivery?
  17. Using that rationale - the rest of us who haven't had the luxury of a green bin up until now should get a back dated rebate!! It's laughable, you haven't been paying extra council tax for your green bin have you?
  18. My, rather dumb, cat has an on off relationship with a local magpie - He keeps moving closer and closer to the magpie whilst the magpie sends out what can only be described as 'go away' noises. It ends when he gets close enough to the magpie to be heavily pecked. He doesn't seem to learn because he's always got pecking injuries to his head. So I'm not sure who is the more aggressive. generally he's quite a good hunter seemingly specialising in squirrel, rats and at some times green finches, so I quite admire the magpie for standing his ground. I must admit I don't feed the birds because i feel it is merely luring them to an early death. i know when my neighbour has put food on her bird table because the cats bring home birds rather than rodents. Just for the record - I do feed my cats - its just their natural hunting instinct
  19. Filled up at Waitrose and it was £1.06
  20. I just ask them to send me the cheapest diesel within a couple of m iles of home and then I know which one to call in to when travelling. It's usually waitrose for me.
  21. I can understand why people feel resentful when they have made the effort and feel that others haven't. This applies to work in general rather than just making it to work in the snow. Some people get twice the work done of others whilst at work and yet get paid the same. I personally wouldn't get wound up by this as those who make themselves invaluable are the ones that get promoted, those that don't make the effort are generally not ambitious and are happy to plod along. Mind you I think the biggest barrier to promotion is a bad attitude to management, or a poor me attitude.
  22. They wouldn't dare, you'd be too good. Hmmm do you think in this age of technology you could broadcast from the comfort of your own bed/sofa?
  23. well I was sat in bed last night and one landed on me. I was really surprised as I associate them with summer and it certainly isn't that at the moment. I trapped it under a glass on my bedside table and it has now stained the top of it. Identified it as a harlequin but not sure what to do with it. Hope it hasn't brought its mates with it!
  24. How do you reckon they could make the shabby chic again. Ok so was probably never considered chic but just run with me on this one..
  25. I think the buses are running Ok ish but sticking to the main roads only
