  1. Harry Norris, Vincent Rodgers, Hans Matto, Vin(me) on eclairs
  2. Anybody noticed the non stop noise coming from this place? Supposed to be operating on this site as light industrial after School Trends moved out. They are working from 6am to midnight with housing in close proximity on three sides.
  3. When the school closed it was taken over by Sheffield Twist Drill and used as the sets department. It was still being used when I left in 1981. edit - I seem to remember but there was a load of old historic records thrown out and piled up with other waste and this must have been before 1970-71 when the new warehouse block was built at the top of Summerfield Street.
  4. I started work at Arthur Davy's Fargate bakery. The foreman was Jock(John) Grierson and the manager was Father Watson. Others there were Paul Abrahams, Malcolm Shemould, Neil, Cliff Johnson, Josie Fox(my wife), Sue(now Pugh), Audrew Vamplew, another Audrey, Kevin(Fingers)Brown, Mervin Jones, John Lindley, Desmond Russell, Glen and a later manager came up from the factory - Brian Barker. I worked for a while at Paternoster Row on eclairs with Harry Noris (stores), Eric Wilde, Hans motto, manager Vincent Rogers. I remember slipping on spilt water and landed face down on a drawplate oven burning arms and face but back to work next day. My wife got her hand trapped in a chocolate enrobing machine and fir brigade had to cut the machine up to get her hand out. Happy days - most of them
  5. They have to have access to your meter and loft space to check that the fitting is possible. they all carry Identification cards that will show a contact number, so if they have not got these beware and do not give access. take vehicle details and ring the police.
  6. That's bad luck, maybe you should name and shame this guy as he's going to continue to fleece more people. You need to 'google' plumber Sheffield and see what comes up near your area.
  7. Katie just out of interest, what did this guy actually fit - new boiler? new shower? was he a qualified plumber, gas safe registered or just someone advertising in the local paper? you must have a minimum 12 months guarantee for the work done. You really have to get this guy back. Get some advice from CAB. Vin
  8. Katie, I had the same problem. If you can get a stick or some other implement over the top of the ball **** arm just push it down several times and it will free itself eventually.
  9. To secure a life time mortgage we had to extend the leasehold on our property in Waterthorpe. Having done that and and finally receiving the equity release amount Mortgage Express went into difficulties and advised us that no further 'loans' would be possible.
  10. Its been a very dicey walk for many years now, very secluded with loads of natural hiding places for these degenerates and just not the worth risking this route nowadays, hopefully reported to the police? keep a mace spray ready in your hand if you have to walk in areas like this. Also, the little hand alarms can scare some robbers off.
  11. The new Asda site that was the Home Décor distribution warehouse has been completely flattened. Would be interested to know what became of proposed plans for a new road linking Quarry Hill at Ridgeway to the T junction at Moss Way and Owlthorpe Greenway?
  12. Yes sagey, crying shame and wonder what's going to become of the purpose built buildings and shooting ground? just wish I'd got a few bob as there are loads of guys wanting to join clubs around my area but just can't get in cos they're all full to bursting plus the poor sods who have lost their club memberships at euroguns. there are very few rfd's around - now even fewer:confused:
  13. not a subject for jest, a very serious disease over many, many years that has left serious scarring for many youngsters who were subjected to the abuse by men who sort satisfaction for their needs but were denied through celibacy. For God's sake allow them to marry. I believe very few abuses were ever reported and those that did were swept under the carpet to protect the church's image.
  14. Have heard on the UBC forum that they have totally closed - members fees lost, guns stored or in for repair lost, these include FAC registered weapons besides air pistols and rifles. Have just read on their site: ANYONE WITH ANY GUN IN THE SHOP WILL BE CONTACTED WITHIN THE NEXT WEEK REGARDING COMING TO COLLECT THE GUNS (REPAIRS, STORAGE & SALES ON BEHALF). AIR RIFLE CLUB MEMBERS PLEASE KEEP CHECKING FOR ANY UPDATE ON THE SITUATION. THE SHOP IS NOW CLOSED AND NOT OPEN FOR ANY BUSINESS.
  15. Sounds like they've changed their restictions, used to be Ok if your roof faced 30 degrees either side of due South and a minimum roof size to accomodate 18 of their panels. I'd have another go at them if you are sure that the fall of your roof is due South with no obstuctions on your roof like chimneys or CH exhausts.
