  1. Ive spoken to Christine on the phone. She remembers Sundays at your mums. She says hello and hopes you are well. I remember Ruby Ashers hairdressers. My mum used to go there sometimes. We had some good shops at one time didnt we. you could get anything you needed without leaving the area.
  2. Does anyone remember the name of a teacher at Grimesthorpe school? He rewarded you with sweets(mainly liquorice torpedoes)If your work was good. Been racking my brains and asking members of my family to no avail. Help.... its driving me insane.

We never had papers delivered to our house. I always had the job of fetching the Star every teatime and the paper on Sunday mornings. Although I had a paper round myself at one point.   4. I see Christine or at least speak to her on the phone every week. She no longer works at the Northern General as the Library service has finished.Christine informs me David Beamont passed away in march 2007.
  5. Yes to everything. The name Faith isnt common so you must be Faith Dickinson. Im Lynne the youngest. Yes everyone seemed to play in our backyard. It was always our house too when the weather was bad. Happy days.

  8. HI. Alison married Joe Clegg and had 2 sons. Sadly Joe died. Do you remember us Darwins? Alison has been married to my oldest brother Gordon for the last 8 years. They live at Sheffield Lane Top now.

  11. Used to go in on Saturday Dinner to pick up my wages. Used to put some of my wages back behind the bar. Seemed to get drunk quicker at dinner times. Wierd really. Remember having to get permision to have a drink. The rules were, if you worked there you couldnt drink in there.
  12. Used to go on trips with the Grimesthorpe Club. I remember having to wear a name tag. If i remember rightly the tags were like the ones you see in the films with the evacuees. It was so exciting when they came round with the tickets for the rides. we got money aswel. 10 bob i think. Brilliant...
  13. I went to ST Thomas s youth club on Holywell Rd. Late 60s early 70s. Loved it. Had some great times

  15. ha ha ah did u live in those houses with no gutters? remember the street ,when most of the houses were boarded up awaiting demolition with EL OFF written on the boarding as a kid i thort this was summat rude,,lol:D i got sick of the toilet freezin up in winter,,,

  17. i lived at 191 next to mr gregory,,and eric and joyce,i remember with daughter,jaqueline,if my memory works well .... eric had a motorbike my mum and dad were jon and janice byne,i was richard,but only 5 when we left,,sorry,,chucked out---ha ha shame cos demolition started long after we had gone...cud have stayed longer. my dad had the little smoke grey mini-rather distinctive with gold stipes on the bonnet!!!! and a big exhaust u coulnt miss that car!! rich i remember the place that sold fags up the rd,,think it was on the junction
  18. not heard of them my grandparents were carrie and jack byne who lived there since the early 1940s till they passed away a few years ago my dad jon byne was born on bellhouse rd,and his sister ann byne,now gilbert,who still lives nearby at wincobank hope this is of use!
