  1. And I don't blame him. Besides, I doubt very much that MM would ask him back, thereby admitting he was wrong. I don't think that Gray is the man for the job either. Sometimes being a good coach isn't enough. We need someone who will get the average players to perform above their level, get the decent players to take control of the game, and get the whole team willing to die for the cause and run through a brick wall for the club. Now who would fit that criteria?
  2. Wednesday are so poor at the moment, we'd struggle to beat the Blades. ......... We'd do it, but it'd be a struggle.
  3. Well that's made my day / week / month. A safestyle salesman called at my house yesterday. The conversation went something like: SS Hello I'm from Safestyle windows and.... Me Before you go any further, even if I did want some windows I wouldn't get them from you. SS Oh, have you had a bad experience ? Me No but any company who can make a TV advert like yours would never get a penny from me. SS But it's made you remember our name. Me Yes but for all the wrong reasons, it's garbage. Bye...... (door closed) I was smiling all afternoon ................. result.
  4. No mate, I'd never phone P or G. My agent would insist that Radio Sheff would have to pay me an appearance fee.
  5. Well when I lived in Pitsmoor I was a Pitsmoor Owl, but never Mark. And that was long before the forum was born.
  6. Good timing by MM. New boss in before Christmas and transfer window opens in Jan to buy what the new boss needs. Play-offs here we come.
  7. Or maybe he wanted to plead not guilty, but his brief said "you must be kidding son, I've seen the CCTV and you haven't got a leg to stand on. Do us all a favour and plead guilty." Maybe.
  8. I was on stage for that one. Brian was pointing to the steps off the stage and the little boy thought he was pointing to where he could wee. There are so many tales about things that went off during his shows. Most of them can't be printed here, but there's enough to fill a book. ........................................................... now there's a thought.
  9. I'm pleased to say that I appeared on stage with Brian for many years as a member of Manor O.S. He was blessed with an ability to create what he described as "the ooomph factor". That's the bit where the curtain opened and 1,200 people all went "WOW" at the same time. He made Manor O.S. probably the most successful producers of amateur pantomime in Yorkshire, if not England. A legendary showman. Sheffield theatre is the poorer for his passing. R.I.P Big Brian.
  10. you need to choose carefully. It's no good taking him to somewhere that's got 20 pounders but you have to wait 3 days for a bite. Take him somewhere that has a good head of fish. Nothing better for a kid's excitement than the float dipping and a fish on the end. Doesn't have to be big. So try Cow Gap, (a bit open to the elements}, Loxley Fisheries, (lots of fish with a few big surprises}, or Aston, (both fisheries have got a lot to offer.) You don't need to go into Lincolnshire if you don't want to. Little Howbrook pond at High Green is now a day ticket water, with so many stockies that he and you will not stop catching all day.
  11. No problem. Hopefully when he gets set up with some new gear he'll pass that box onto some other kid who's starting out. Hope the charity match raised a lot of cash.
  12. Are there any children's fishing groups that are in need of fishing boxes. I'm talking about the fibre glass Shakespeare type boxes. I have 2 large boxes and 1 smaller one. Free to groups that help kids get an interest in this wonderful pastime.
  13. Couple of years ago I left a camera in a taxi after a wedding and an hour later the taxi driver was at the door with it. Wife once left her handbag in a taxi and that too was brought back. There are some good uns.
  14. apparently he wouldn't sign until they'd sorted out his own parking spaces at the ground, the training ground, and the Crown Court.
  15. I've seen the Owls when their skill level was lower than a snake's belly, but they'd run their socks off. I've got mates who are Blades and saw their team with not a lot of talent but a huge amount of commitment. And I've seen the Owls when they've had so much talent that they made it look easy. Now it's just complacency, not bothered, and when's pay day, and don't break into sweat.
  16. and I would think that off the record, both managers know that the currenr squads aren't good enough, but can't do anything to change the situation. Weir may be able to do something soon, but Jones can't. (all together now...... " there may be trouble ahead ")
  17. I've used Arthur's a few times. Most recent time I asked for one as soon as possible. This was at 08:50. It was on my drive for 12:10.
  18. And if George Best had a bigger international stage than the Northern Ireland team he would have been a contender.
  19. And that's the different between greatest and most skillful. Pele was the world's best in a time when cynical fouls were a normal part of the game, and he didn't (as far as I know) cheat. Maradonna was undoubtedly skillful, but was a proven cheat. Therefore Pele was the greatest.
  20. Mrs Pitsmoorlad watches this, and I'm on the laptop so I can hear. It's sad that Brucie has gone from being the best game show host in the country to a shadow of his former self. His timing has gone, he struggles with the gags, and he really should have packed in after the last series. And as for Mrs Brown's Boys.............. I love it........ it's the only programme at the moment that makes me laugh out loud.
  21. Well no sour grapes from this Owl. I hope it works out for you guys, (although I hope you're always just behind the Blue & White wizards). It was looking grim at the lane, now things look a little brighter.
  22. Mod Note: Please use the Vacancies section of the classifieds. Closing.
  23. Hi all. Asda, Chapeltown now have a company monitoring their car park,(Smart Parking) presumably for people using the facility for parking and catching the train. Some weeks ago I got the customary letter saying that I'd parked there for a long time, (arrived 07:50.... left at 15:20). I ignored it, and the subsequent letters. Then I got one from a debt collecting agency, (Debt Recovery Plus) threatening court action if I didn't pay. Now I have received a "notice of impending court action". The thing is, they are totally wrong. I parked there twice. Once for 15 minutes in the morning, and once for 10 minutes in the afternoon. I can prove that I was at a different location from 14:40 till 15:10. Any advice on my options ? Do I get in touch and tell them to re-check the cameras. Do I ignore. Do I say, "take me to court and I'll make you look stupid and incompetent.
