  1. As of 2012 it was still illegal in my state and 13 others, not that its enforced. Of course, I live in the Bible Belt so its not much of a surprise. I believe fellatio between unmarried individuals is also illegal here. Welcome to North Carolina, stuck in the dark ages.
  2. Ralph had a sickness that was dangerous and contagious....lol. Homosexuality is apparently something you can "catch" from someone else. And Jimmy was released "on probation" to his parents. Ahh...yes. Homosexual behavior was considered a crime against nature back then. Homosexuality was equated with pedophilia. It is laughable in retrospect but as several of you have already stated, 50 years from now people will look back at all sorts of things we consider progressive and ask "what were they thinking?!"
  3. That seems awfully foolish. Surely there is a safer way to take down a silo. And they didn't sound American. Definitely heard Canadian accents. Maybe you should change the thread title to North American Destruction.
  4. Now that is a question I can't answer. It applies mainly to National Parks out west. I live on the east coast and the National Parks in my area don't have chain control. Now, in keeping with the topic of the thread, here is a link to a video of Miss South Carolina answering a question during the Miss Teen USA 2007 competition that is seriously painful to watch. I don't really think she is stupid, I think she just got nervous but it is funny.
  5. I have been to Sheffield in person and met some lovely people from this very forum. As for chain control, certain national parks have requirements that you have chains on your tires or at least in your vehicle when you enter because of icy road conditions. They don't want to waste their time coming to pull your vehicle out of a ditch if you slip off the road.
  6. Its threads like this one that make me miss this place. I need to check in more often. Can't put a price on this sort of entertainment.
  7. One of your home grown bands from Sheffield.....Bring Me The Horizon. House of Wolves
  8. No need to lie about things. Just be honest about why you're still single at 40. As others have said, if something like that bothers someone, then they aren't worth your time and effort anyway.
  9. I have no real fondness for Christmas and haven't since I was a child. If it were up to me I wouldn't celebrate it at all but we have 2 kids, one who still believes in Santa Claus so its fairly mandatory. As luck would have it, my girls will be with their Dad most of Christmas this year so I only have to deal with the decorations littering my house. Can't wait for it to be over already.
  10. He is very handsome. I guess I can understand why, in a twisted sort of way, that he would be deported. The Saudis wouldn't want to risk him taking any of their women. lol
  11. My ex husband had this and it nearly did him in. His sort of wound around his trachea and was swelling to the point that he had trouble breathing. It was drained with needles and he has never had a problem since. That was a couple of years ago now. Hope you don't get it again.
  12. I chatted with your dad many times here on the forum and talked to him on the phone once when I was visiting in the UK as he was friends with another forummer that I was visiting. He was a lovely fellow. I am so sorry for your loss.
  13. Its institutions like this church that give us North Carolinians a bad name. Tsk, tsk.
  14. I met my OH on a forum not unlike this one. It was a chance encounter that brought us together and as someone else mentioned in their post, I would not have met him ever were it not for the internet. He lives in the UK and I live in the US. We got to know each other so well without the pressure of a physical relationship. No confusing lust with love. We each fell in love with the other person based on who we are on the inside. When we first met in person, it was like coming home again after being away a very long time. It was.....heaven. We have always planned to be together, though we are still working at that. We met almost 5 years ago now and the bond I have with him is unlike any other I have ever experienced. Together we have experienced great joy and the depths of despair and it has made us stronger than ever. So yes...it can and does work.
  15. Buck....I had a 1967 Ford Mustang, too! It was my sister's car and then was handed down to me. Just sold it back in 2003. It was a hard top, maroon with black interior so it was hot as hades in the summer, no A/C, no power steering and no power brakes, no seatbelts, AM radio only. I loved that car. Named him Steve.....Steve Stang. Here is a pic of my baby: http://s1217.photobucket.com/albums/dd391/cottontop3/
  16. It is shameful that the American Government participated in such experiments. However, it isn't only the American government that participated in such activity. Many governments have done similar things....the British government, for example, tested mustard gas on Indians as revealed in this Guardian article from 2007: http://www.guardian.co.uk/uk/2007/sep/01/india.military British Naval doctors were accused of experimenting with radiation on patients: http://www.whale.to/a/exp99.html It goes on and on and not with just the US and UK governments. It just shows we are all as bad as each other.
  17. No...that was caused by the George W Bush's Fault line.
  18. I guess everyone is just different. To me, poo is just a natural thing...its just another smell among the thousands assailing our olfactory system at any given time. And its only temporary so it doesnt bother me. Funny thing about poo though....when my kids have friends over and someone takes care of business while they are here, I can tell you with one sniff if it was my child or not. I know what my kids poo smells like....isn't that weird?
  19. Here is my point....if the OP's partner pooping in the bathroom while she is in the shower is the worst thing she ever comes up against in her relationship then she is doing pretty well. I have had children vomit in my hands, I have changed many diapers for my kids and my mother when she was dying, I wiped my husband when his back went out and he couldn't do it himself. I can't figure why so many people are so squeamish about poo.
  20. The fact that he uses the bathroom when I am in there has nothing whatsoever to do with the reason we divorced. We were completely comfortable with each other and we still are.
  21. It is very interesting to see the different opinions about this activity. I was married for 13 years and my husband had no problem doing that while I was in the bathroom and I had no problem either. We were just comfortable with each other. We've been divorced 3 years now and he still does that at my house in front of me while I'm brushing my teeth or we are having a conversation. It just never seemed like a big deal to me. Edited to add: I have two bathrooms at my house so its not as if he couldn't use the other one but it never occurred to me to ask.
  22. Brothers and Sisters, can I get a big AMEN!
  23. nevermind...............................
  24. Okay....now they are saying it was near Islamabad. CNN online still says Afghanistan. Obama is supposed to make the announcement any minute.
