  1. Many thanks to those who have responded, sorry I haven't logged on for a while
  2. Could anyone out there give me any advice on applying for a training position with the probation service. I know they're not recruiting yet but I believe the competition is fierce and I don't really have any relevant qualifications. I'm trying to find a suitable voluntary position to fit around my two kids and two jobs, but that aint easy! Any advice will be appreciated
  3. Hi, Several months ago I was asking for information on living in lowedges. I found that there were lots of negative comments from people who had only 'heard' about the place. Anything good that was said was by people who lived or had lived there. Well, I took the plunge and moved to Lowedges with my two children. So far I am pleased with my move. I've had no trouble and there are lots of amenities. The place is pretty clean and filled with lots of decent people who take a pride in their homes. I'd like to say to those who condemned the place without credible knowledge, you are being extremely unfair continuing to damage the reputation of an area just on hearsay! An area cannot improve or change unless respectable people are encouraged to reside there, and your comments are enough to put anyone off. I'm sure many of you feel there are far better places to live, though I suspect much of this is mere snobbery, but some of us are forced by circumstances to not have the luxury of choosing the exact location we would prefer to live or raise our children. For those of you who are thinking of moving out here, believe me, I've lived in far worse places and in comparison to them Lowedges is a very pleasant area.
  4. Thanks for replying, but that was a rather broad view of the area, smack heads are everywhere! I live amongst them right now! My enquiry was more to do with the boland road area, what it's like there - I know there are people on here who have lived and still live in lowedges and I wondered if it's possible to live a relatively trouble free existence with my two children. i.e. is it safe to use the shops, chip shop? Will my children be safe playing out (I do know it's never 100% safe - just saying reasonably safe)? The house is a bit of a mess, though there's supposed to be new bathrooms, kitchens and central heating to be fitted. I'm in a bit of a quandry because I've never owned a council house before and I don't know this area of Sheffield at all, currently live in the darnall area. Thanks in advance for anyone who takes the time to give some sound advice.
  5. Hi, I'm thinking of moving into lowedges and have been reading some off putting remarks about the place. On the map it looks quite well located, being near to the countryside and I wondered if some areas are worse than others. I have two children and don't want to move them into a dodgy area. The house is on Boland road, anyone know what it's like there?
