  1. Another vote for La Vaca. Its a quite nice place for Sheffield, quality steaks at a very decent price. Chips are homemade which is always a good sign.... the side dishes are not as good but you dont need them... Steak, chips and red Wine.... PERFECT !! By the way, the black pudding it is not the Spanish morcilla, its the Chilean/Argentinean type, not as good as the original one from Burgos
  2. I quite like this place and I hope they do very well. The owner has always been very kind everytime I've been there with my children, but the most important thing for me is the quality of the cakes. I have to say that his carrot cake is one of the best I've ever tried, if not the best.... CONS: The sign doesn't go very well with the cafe, but once inside who cares! At the same time most of the cars at the traffic light are looking at the cafe so it does work somehow...! They have a small sink where they wash the cups and things in front of you... The chairs inside are not very confy, a sofa with low table in a corner will be better... Decoration is kind of cold I've just moved abroad PROS: Cakes are very good Coffee its quite good for Sheffield standards. Friendly place Owner told me they were going to make croissants... better than Tesco's! They are SUFC, ha ha.. And location, I can always leave the wife and children there and go for a pint and the Broadfield....
  3. I wouldn't !!! Last time I went there with a group of about 10 people and they couldn't handle it, so 20 sounds like mission imposible ! . We ordered several tapas combos and we didn't get all what we order, service was quite poor, and most of the people felt sick after the dinner. Qualitywise was a huge disappointment, tasteless tapas.
  4. A few bars around Kelham Island have many different ales on draft, better than bottles and at half the price !!! The Sheaf View, White Lyon, The Broadfield.... a proper pint doesn't cost more than £3.00 ish Can't see many people paying £4.50 for Farmers Blonde ...
  5. Thanks! but it is only on the bottom part.. she left it on top of the car...
  6. Hi there, My girlfriend has lost her phone at 7.30 this morning, S7 where South View Road joins Abbeydale road. The phone is an old Sony Ericsson in white, I think it is a W810. If you find it please le me know, I only need the baby pictures in it! Thanks Marco
  7. hola! i'm interested too. mon1, I've sent you a PM with more info. Let me know!
  8. Starbucks is the best .... for expensive dirty water! If you really like coffee Starcr*ps is the last place to go... One of the best places I've been for a nice coffee is Bragazzi's in Abbeydale Rd, at least on this side on town!
  9. I couldn't get any Spanish Stations on FM on my side of town (S7) ....I will try again! Normaly I can listen to RNE on AM when it is dark, on 585, 730, 738 AM or similar, but you need to play around with the aerial becuase the sounds comes and goes..... you also need to keep on alternating them...
  10. I would like to know if it is still ok to lay turf in my garden within the next couple of weeks. Is the weather getting too cold for it ? Thanks
  11. In Spain main dishes with chorizo are Lentils, Chick peas, Beans (all kinds), and vegetables / potatoes. Most off them quite heavy in the stomach. Also something quite nice is to fry it in white whine or cider.....
  12. You can also try cooking it in the bbq. You will need the chorizo in one piece, not the one that comes in slices. Just wrap it in kitchen foil and put in just on top of the hot ashes, and after a while the fat of the chorizo should start burning and chorizo will be nice and roasted. If you check any Spanish cooking book should be hundreds of recipes using chorizo.
  13. Creo que lo mas dificil va a ser encontrar un buen cafe en Sheffield! solo hay un par de sitios donde se puede uno sentar y relajar con un buen cafe Echo de menos las partidas al tute despues de comer con un buen cortado!!!!! Suerte!
  14. Yesterday in Abbeydale RD... I was driving my car and a saw two clyclist coming fast so I left them a bit of space to pass me on the left, them they rode two abreast in front of me. As soon as it was safe I overtook them both and at the next red traffic light they overtook me and 3 other cars and rode two abreast in front of all of us. They did this twice in a row, so drivers were getting quite upset and beeping at the cyclist who weren't bother at all and they also started to wave at the cars in a rude way. I know riding two abreast is legal, but is it not taking the "p*ss" what this two cyclist were doing? I used to cycle a lot when I was younger, so I understand cyclist are very vulnerable and I always take my time and space to overtake them. And I also think they have the same right on the road as other users, even if they don't have to pay road tax, which I think is normal. Any comments on this?
  15. If you need any advice for food: Botafumeiro, Gran de Gracia 81. Best place I've ever been in Barcelona!
