  4. Friendly amateur club needs players for its midweek and Saturday teams. Don't be concerned if you haven't played for a while. Most of our team look like they have never played before. Saturdays we play at High Green and midweek on Bawtry Road.
  5. Vickers became English Steel Corporation and later British Steel Corporation. PO box 57 was the postal address for the River Don Works,Brightside Lane. There may also have been a few other company names in the transition from vickers to BSC
  6. http://www.sheffieldcitylettings.com I think deal with city centre rental property.
  7. Are there any cricketers out there who have bought and used a Solitaire cricket bat. If so how do you rate it?
  8. Thanks to the staff there who let my kids use the phone and then kept an eye on them until I picked them up. Due to traffic disruption there the kids didn't know which bus to catch home yesterday. It was very thoughtful of them to be so understanding.
  9. What would you be concerned about; the incident or the fact that Wostenholm Road becomes Montgomery Road before the juction with Machon Bank Road , a fact which I had overlooked .
  10. Can anyone recommend a piano teacher in S11 for an 11 year old girl ?
  11. I was driving along Wostenholm road this afternoon towards the junction with Machon Bank Road. As I approached the mini roundabout 2 young men walked across the road in front of my vehicle. One appeared to gently push the other one as they crossed. One of the young men carried on walking across the road and the other walked in front of my car, flagged me down and then walked to my side of the car. He said " Can I get in your car as that other guy has tried to mug me? " He then looked in my car , saw my wife was with me, together with 2 toddlers in the back in their child seats. He then apologised for asking as I had young children in the back. As the other youth had carried on walking I didn't let him in the car. Who thinks it was a real mugging and what would you have done?
  12. I think the comparatively tiny Sheffield Building society was taken over by the Bradford and Bingley in 1990.
  13. There are 2 different methods of calculating mortgage repayments. The gross profile method and the constant nett repayment. If you google them it will explain better than I can on here. What you should also take into account is that some lenders work out your capital and interest payments on a daily basis and others on annual basis which will also affect amount payable. With either method, the mortgage will be paid off at the end of your chosen mortgage term
  14. I remember most of those teachers although some may have left by the time I was there. Mrs Maslin and Mrs Smith were in the infants and I think there was a Mrs Wood. The headmaster was Mr Churchward. For some reason I can remember the name Sam Leatemia. I think he was a student teacher at that time. He was from Indonesia and I can remember him getting us to sing Row, row , row the boat, gently down the stream. Funny the things stick in your mind after all these years. There is a Sam Leatemia living in Sheffield. I wonder if it is the same man. Didn't we all have to listen to Time and Tune on the radio back in those black and white happy days .
  15. Gordon and Joan emigrated from Sheffield in 1963 to Australia. They took with them their children Jeffrey, Steven and Janet who were Silverdale school pupils at the time. I would be grateful if anyone had any info or contact details.
  16. I had the same problem last night. While I was unable to watch I happened to find an AV forum . It suggested removing the snow which had built up on the dish by using a hose pipe . I hosed the dish and it worked.
  17. I've a vague recollection of a Tony Morgan. Rough arsed youth from Wybourn . Rubbish dancer. Somehow managed to marry his lovely child bride. Last seen hurtling down Ecclesall Road on his scooter at nearly 10 miles an hour.
  18. Sorry , just looked at the previous threads regarding the marriage and you were the main contributor to that thread. Hush my mouth.
  19. I am not sure if this is of any help at all but there has been a previous search regarding a wedding. If you google marriages 1856 charles jackson emma wilbraham sheffield forum , there is some info.
  20. 3. I suggest you google Nicky and Mark Webster and read about their situation. 4. You need to be 21 or over. In theory most authorities will advise that there is no maximum age for foster carers however it is something of a contradiction as some authorities will state there should be no more than a 40 year age gap between child and adoptive parent.
  21. Try Peak Vets, Olivet Road , Woodseats. My dog was having eye problems about 3 years ago. Our then current vet recommended them to us , as they had some specialist equipment. We stuck with them as we are not only impressed by the vets, but also the rest of the staff there.
  22. I'd have Gil Reece or Len Allchurch rather than Woodward. Or maybe Trenton Wiggan ?
  23. Is David Hirst your dad ? Only kidding!!!!
  24. Owls v Blades of my lifetime 1 Ron Springett Alan Hodgkinson 2Roland Nilsson Len Badger 3 Don Megson Graham Shaw 4 Wilf Smith Trevor Hockey 5 Peter Swan Joe Shaw 6 Tony Kay David Powell 7 Chris Waddle Jimmy Johnstone 8 Benito Carbone Tony Currie 9 David Layne Mick Jones 10 Paulo di Canio Alan Birchenall 11 Colin Dobson Alex Sabella
  25. Is he talking about people from Barnsley, Stocksbridge and Coal Aston. They've got funny accents and I feel his comments totally unfair? As an aside if the OP had used BigNeilPirch as the spelling of his alias, an anagram would have been "chirping bile"
