  1. They might think they're fans, they might go to the games. Anyone who would use violence in the name of a team isn't a fan. They can't be, they aren't a supporter, they aren't being supportive. They are creating a negative image of not only their team, but the whole game too. They also hurt their team in a number of ways, not least financially. It is no coincidence that gates in the 70's and 80's went so low when there was so much trouble with violence. As that started to dwindle in the 90's the gates started to get bigger and bigger. 'Supporting your club in another way' is like saying beating up your wife is 'another way of showing her love'. That isn't love.
  2. Fish is a bit harsh, what have they done?
  3. His contract is up on 30.06.2012. I don't think it would be in his best interests to leave or sign a new contract at the moment. If he leaves to a Championship side then it's a gamble for him, he has never really performed well at that level. Plus, he'd probably have to take a pay cut. If he signs for us now, he'll also have to take a pay cut. If he waits until the summer, for one thing he is more likely to get a Championship side to take a punt on him if he is free (or maybe a Premier struggler) but he is also more likely to get decent wages if the team are saving on a transfer fee. For another, if we get promoted he is a lot less likely to have to take a pay cut, especially if he has knocked in 20+ goals this season.
  4. Pretty sure a lot of that post is untrue, but still, what's the problem? In a world where half the population struggle to put food on the table and we have far too many people alive to feed, there seems to be complete sense in using as much of the animal as possible. It's better than lots of waste. Also, what do you expect from fast food?!?
  5. The Lantern Theatre, it is S7. http://www.lanterntheatre.org.uk 0114 2551776
  6. It's usually true about a relegation wage cut. I'm sure that when we were in the Premier League all contracts at United included a 20% one, or at least that is what was reported. Newcastle got caught out by that when they were relegated. They didn't think they needed that clause.
  7. Indeed. But you don't get the full picture, obviously. But he has earned that (if it's true) by being loyal to the club and helping get the club to the top flight. That's how it should work, even if it rarely does in football now. He was also one of the few players who actually played like he wanted to stay there.
  8. You could always tell the fans who only watch the ball at football games, they thought Monty was crap. Those who watch the game and are more tactically aware can see him as the decent player he is. He is a good player, a hard worker, and has been very important for us over the years. I wish him well if he does move on.
  9. Contact some local comedians, speakers, singers and put on a show? If you can get them to do it for free for you (some will if it's a good cause) then you could raise some really good funds.
  10. But they're only useless to you. And if they are useless they should be free, surely it is the 'really useful' functions that should be paid for?
  11. Well done on getting a video made! Music videos are hard to make and you do a decent job here. I would say that you need to think a lot more about framing. A lot of the shots were medium shots that had far too much going on. Think about what the subject of the shot is, what you are trying to get across, and how best to frame that. We don't always need to see background on either side of the subject or establishing shots before pulling in, as it isn't a film or tv show. A lot of the shots are also way too long. Have a look at as many music videos as you can, time the average length of a shot. They move very quickly, and just as in song writing where one line of lyrics has to tell a complete story, one shot in a music video has to get a message across very quickly and easily to the audience. Narrative is very important and I was a little bit confused in the video as to what was happening at times, and if it was a linear narrative or not? Lastly, I can't stress how important light and sound are. I realise this is just a student video, but you will make a much bigger impression with decent lighting and sound. Stick at it, make as many as you can!
  12. As if the church had nothing to do with it! When I lived in NC I used to see weird church signs like this all the time. Often offensive, usually accusatory. I remember Brittney had a hard time from the churches for a while there, and after 9/11... well, you can imagine the hatred some of them came out with. Having said that, I must also say that 90% of North Carolinians are very nice, normal people. They have more than their share of NASCAR devoted rednecks, but most are harmless and very nice. Just the 10% of religious wackjobs who are a bit scary... as in many places around the world.
  13. Stealing a rusty bucket is still stealing.
  14. Who has said that ALL scrap men are theives?
  15. You're the only one saying that. You say that they take anything the see in gardens and it's fine. I agree, you're a troll.
  16. So this isn't about dodgy scrapmen, you're just saying theft is ok?
  17. So all the metal garden furniture that goes missing around Sheffield every year looks like scrap?
  18. I don't think anyone complains about those that come around and ask to take your rubbish. However, there are a lot who go around and steal things.
  19. It's not really the start, they've only won one in four. That's a poor streak for a team at the top, especially when the chasing pack are doing so well. I don't think it'll last though, I expect they will keep picking up the points... Just hopefully not at the same speed as the Sheffield teams.
  20. If Charlton don't win that'll be one win in four in the league. That's a wobble for the top team.
  21. At the moment I'd say that United and Wednesday look like the in-form clubs in League One. I think we both look like we will be playoffs at least. However, there are a lot of games to go and I seem to remember Wednesday were around the top at this time last year, weren't they? So either club could quite easily bottle it. I think it does also depend on who comes and goes in the next month.
  22. I think if he was going to any other club it would be a good move. It's never going to be good going back to a club that you left on a high when you are no longer the player you once were.
