Plans for 37 Storey tower to go on site of old NMB

Agreed but not much use to anyone driving to the hotel on business or to those living in the flats that have cars. -
Plans for 37 Storey tower to go on site of old NMB
cytine replied to iansheff's topic in Sheffield News & Discussions
Will there be any provision for parking? I assume some of the people using a 4/5 star hotel as well as residents of the flats will have cars. -
I used to enjoy reading the comments on stories in the Star online until the trolls, nutters and inadequates took it over and spoiled it. Now you have to access it through Facebook and as there are very few comments now I assume others, like me, are not on facebook or are just not bothered.

I'm S13 and my bin was emptied this morning. Blue bin due tomorrow.
-
Where I am the bins have not been emptied for 3 weeks because of the weather, no complaints about that it couldn't be helped. I have noticed that rubbish is obviously piled up so what is it going to be like when collections go to monthly?

Don't have a shovel??? I clear my path (It has a bit of a slope) and then put salt down, never iced up yet.

Watch battery replacement - cheap services?
cytine replied to Mouseman's topic in Sheffield News & Discussions
There is a place in Meadowhall next to the Oasis, I think it’s called “Watch Hospital” or something like that. He looked at my watch he said it didn’t need a new battery, gave it a good clean and didn’t charge me anything. Nice honest bloke, give him a try. It has worked fine ever since. -
Faith and Front Line Workers; Sheffield Council.

I don't understand the need for this survey, what has it got to do with the council or anyone else for that matter? -

What has a persons faith got to do with SCC, surely religious beliefs are personal and private? -
LittleDale shop still charging £1.00 for cards

Morrisons and Asda have done away with 5p bags and I believe Tesco has. Charity my foot, it's another way to rip off the British public. Why can't they provide paper carrier bags like they did in the "Old days", Primark does. -

Surely you must have known when you chose that name that it would invite comments. You asked for it. I won't make the obvious further comment. -

Barnsley vs Sheffield town centre

I love Barnsley market, plenty of stalls, good atmosphere and I believe free parking at weekends. Sheffield market, the last time I went, was a shiny new building with few traders and no atmosphere at all. Our arrogant council, as usual, ignored the wishes of the people and went ahead. People said they won't go and they haven't. The market, like Sheffield city center is soulless and dying. Anyone remember the old "Rag and Tag"? fabulous. Yes I know times have changed but other cities have moved with the times while our council have helped speed up our once great city's demise. -
"Bustling, welcoming, thriving city of culture"? What planet are you on? Are you really talking about Sheffield? It was nothing like that last time I went into the city center. It was quiet and depressing with poor and expensive parking and appalling access, it will be a long time before I go again. You are making a lot of assumptions about football fans, the majority of whom are are ordinary well behaved people who just want a drink and something to eat and will spend a lot of money.

Private Parking Ticket Megathread (Part 2)

It should be illegal for all companies and government departments to sell on their customer personal details. Why doesn't this come under the Data Protection Act? -
Do we really need a Yorkshire Mayor and can we really afford another layer of unnecessary bureaucracy? His/hers wages, expenses, secretaries, researchers, security and other hangers on, plus office and equipment and of course the obligatory posh car and chauffeur. Where's the money coming from? We all know it will be another "job for the boys" Labour lackey who gets the job, just like that other waste of money Billings.

Pay and Display in car park behind McColls in Woodhouse
cytine replied to cytine's topic in Sheffield News & Discussions
I wondered that Fatbelly, I went past a couple of days ago and the signs were missing or perhaps they were vandalised. Very few people used the car park so I can't see how they made it pay. They can't have taken enough to cover the cost of the pay machine and signs. I hope there has been a change of heart and it encourages people back to the village that has been so badly affected by this.
