  1. Don't know about 1899, but Farrar's Funfair has been visiting Hillsborough Park each year since 1967. the Sheffield Show, Mayfest have been held there and Planet Circus returns on Wednesday.
  2. Anyone who organises an event in a park eg funfair, circus has to pay a non refundable bond if they leave a mess or damage the ground.
  3. Woodseats WMC has a large dance floor.
  4. Just read elsewhere that Queens Road social Club has closed, not be many left soon, many reckon the Manor on City Road will be next.

  11. Farrar's Funfair returns for the 50th year to Hillsborough Park from Thur 27 April to Mon 1st May. Open weekdays from 5pm, 1pm weekends and Bank Holiday Monday. You can save £5 by printing money off vouchers from http://www.funfairvouchers.com.

  13. Thanks, but for some reason it is only Owlerton they are looking at, in particular photo's.
  14. Relations of the late John Farrar are putting a book together about this well known Sheffield funfair operator and wondered if anyone has and photographs or stories to tell about when Farrar's (not Whiting's who visited here in the 80's) used to visit Owlerton believed to be in the 1960's.
  15. In the 1960's a fair was held on a goods yard near the Midland Station and in the late 1970's fairs were held near to where the Europa garage is at the bottom of Granville Road.Years ago fairs were held on the old station approach at the former Victoria Station.
  16. It is the big piece of waste ground adjacent to the station where the fair will be.
  17. All the old names mentioned, but not seen anyone mention Cardboard Shoes, Keith Skues. He was one of the main men behind Radio Hallam.
  18. I only go in there once a year normally to pay my subs so I can use my membership card to get into other clubs which I do occasionally to watch groups.
