sadly another old Grimesthorpian has passed away, my Uncle Charlie, father to Barry and Tony, late of Lincoln Place passed away on August 8th aged 89, cremation at City Rd on 29th August at 2.45, r.i.p. Uncle Charlie

Just a word or two for those that remember my uncle "little Charlie Atkinson", he sadly passed away last Friday, he was 89, just short from his 90th birthday

I think you might mean a "banksman", they have them for cranes, so the crane driver, who is usually in his control room up the crane, is told which way the crane is wanted to go, i.e. up , down, left ,right, or trolley in or out, it is left to one man to direct so there is no confusion in the directions.
