  1. Good Evening, The Hallamshire Guild of WSD are hosting their annual open day on Saturday 8th October. Members will be on hand to answer any questions that you may have. The open day runs from 11am until 3pm, free entry. We are located at Batemoor and Jordanthorpe Community centre, Dyche Lane, S8 8BT. Please come along and say hi.
  2. Hi, We meet at Batemoor and Jordanthorpe Community Centre once a month. Business meeting is usually from 11 until 12. We then break for lunch and the afternoon is either a speak or a sharing skills session. Please see below our programme for 2016.   3. Hi All, We are holding our annual open day on the 10th October. We will habe on display entries for our Guild Challenge and people will be demonstrating our crafts. Please came and have a chat and a cuppa between 1 and 3pm at Batemoor and Jordanthorpe Community Centre, Dyche Lane, S8 8BT If you can't make it we will also be demonstrating this Sunday at Abbeydale Industrial Hamlet as part of their Steam Gathering.
  4. Hi Everyone I just wanted to let you know that on Saturday and Sunday this week (11th & 12th October) we will be holding an exhibition of our work and demonstrations at the Arundel Room, Millennium Gallery. Free entry Open Saturday 11.00am until 5.00pm Sunday 11.00am until 4.00pm.

  6. Hi Everyone Just wanted to let everyone know that it is our monthly meeting this Saturday. This weekend we will be joined by Val Bryant who will be talking to us 'Spinning through time' this is a talk about the history of spinning and rare spinning wheels. Our business meeting will take place between 11 and 12 with the talk starting about 1pm. There is a charge for visitors of ÂŁ4. Any questions please get in touch. Sarah

There is a small charge of ÂŁ4 for visitors In addition our October meeting is our open day. Hi, My name is Sarah and I am a member of the Weavers, Spinners and Dyers Guild (WSD) we meet on the 2nd Saturday of each month at Jordanthorpe Community Centre, Dyche Lane, we have a business meeting between 10-12 and then the afternoon is an activity or guest speaker. The next meeting is taking place on the 13th October and is a sharing skills group, this might be a good one to attend as there will be plenty of people there with different spinning wheels for you to have a look at. And how long can these traditions continue? What are the prospects for the makers, and the traditional way of life represented by such wonderful textiles? Jim and Diane will look at the past and possible future solutions in this thought provoking talk illustrated with some of their very best textiles from around the world.   14. Hi, my neighbour found a small completely black rabbit, unfortunately it has no distinguishing features. It is very friendly. I can look after it short term (i have two rabbits of my own) but if the owners do not come forward i will have to re-home it. Please get in touch if you know who it belongs to.
  15. Hello, I am hoping to get some recommendations for tent lamps. We have tried a number of lamps and they just do not provide enough light at night, we only have a three man tent with no electric hook up. Any ideas would be greatfully received. Sarah
