  1. Private sales only include them when the people selling can't be bothered or don't need to remove them. If the cooker is a standalone one, then the people selling the house will usually take it with them unless they're moving to somewhere with a built-in cooker. Same thing with the shower -- if the new house already has (a decent) one, then there's no point in taking the existing one. I've never rented from the council, but wouldn't expect those things unless it was a "furnished" rental, and even then I'd only expect to have cheap items supplied, that are past their best. But then, I don't expect to have everything handed to me on a silver plate, and am happy to save up for things myself.
  2. As soon as I see that phrase in a post, I stop reading -- except for this one as it was the title and thus looked like a ranty-type post about it. Ditto if someone says it in person to me -- I stop listening. It annoys me immensely. I used to work with someone who used the phrase *multiple* times in the same conversation. I often used to wonder if the person on the other end of the phone found it as annoying as I did.
  3. I think they might be putting the barriers up last? It makes sense to get the machines all installed and tested first.
  4. I've just noticed a ticket machine at the rear entrance by the vending machine. I didn't have time to look in detail though - had a train to catch!
  5. There's an official version of Scrabble on Facebook now, but it's pants. Wordscraper (Scrabulous renamed and changed a bit) is much better.
  6. This is probably a silly question, but how do you register to get treatment? I really, really need to get my teeth sorted (have been too scared to go to the dentist in over 10 years), and the IV sedation sounds like what I need! Also, do you have to live in Sheffield? I don't live in Sheffield but have worked in Sheffield for years.
  7. In my opinion it's way better to be standing -- and if you get to the venue early-ish you can get front row. I've got a single standing ticket up for grabs at what it cost me (£43) plus postage to get it to you. Seats are good if you can't or don't want to get there early, but it might be hard to find good seats this close to the show.
  8. You can take electrical items through too, although if it's on the large side you might have to have it screened separately, e.g. laptops.
  9. You can take whatever liquids you like on board that you've purchased after security; the link above explains what you can take through security.
  10. Contact the seller and explain, and ask if they can cancel your bid for you. They might be helpful, they might not. Worth a try though?
  11. It's a bit much when you've never, ever caught a bus in Sheffield, except when the trams can't run due to an accident or whatever. Why can't they do a cheaper tram-only option?
  12. I stayed in the youth hostel there once, for about a week -- the annexe was a bit crap, but the main building was good.
  13. Don't send the original. Take a photo of it instead, and email the photo to her.
  14. Perhaps the sister has a hearing problem, or those that she texts do?
