  1. Sixty years after being released and classified as a 'U' Mary Poppins has now been classified as 'PG' due to discriminatory language.

    From the article:

Classifiers picked up on the term used by the character Admiral Boom – first as a reference to people not onscreen, then as a reference to the film’s child stars when their faces are blackened with soot.

“We understand from our racism and discrimination research … that a key concern for … parents is the potential to expose children to discriminatory language or behaviour which they may find distressing or repeat without realising the potential offence,” a BBFC spokesperson told the Mail.

“Content with immediate and clear condemnation is more likely to receive a lower rating.” This only affects the cinema version.

I wonder what film will be next.

    Vastly improved under Wilder.

He’s improved the points per game from 0.36 to 0.67 and improved the goal difference per game from -2.00 to -1.33

Unfortunately for him, the safety gap has grown from 4 points to 8 points and without the Everton points deduction it would be 11 points.

Still everything to play for, especially if Forest get a points deduction and Everton get a further one.

Everton points reduction cut to 6.

  3. Tonight's line up against Leicester, think need to cross everything and hope for the best,  could they manage to surprise everyone and get a point.

It's because they don't want them in jail due to the jails being already overcrowded,  and they don't want to spend more money on the prison service when they could give it to their pals in tax cuts.

They never think about clamping down on prisons so they are not such nice places to be and tackling the crime wave in that way.

Watching TV,  playing computer games,  etc etc.      What about lots and lots of work and very little  fun instead.

Also  -  Really and truly clamp down on drugs and alcohol in prisons  -  that should be quite easy if the will was there.

Make their prison time truly match their behaviour.

Exactly it is all about the money, prison will rehabilitate a lot of offenders but there are a lot that couldn't care less and just reoffend. I wonder what the ratio of reoffenders to reformed prisoners was when they had hard labour and no tv's etc in their cells compared to today.

  6. Apologies for the repeat post, I tried to edit my post but it said not located then it appeared, I edited it and it has reposted the post with the edit rather than just the edited post. I was going to delete the content of post 43 but now it will not let me edit  and only gives the option to quote.

  7. Why did he only get a suspended sentence and unpaid work order for the sexual assault on the girl? A sexual assault is a serious crime and the court should have imposed a stronger sentence.

Mind you look at what Cameron said about knife crime and how the Government were going to clamp down on it, yet look at how the numbers are rising especially in London.

The courts give out soft sentences and some criminals don't even get jail time so they not going to get jailed long enough to be deported. even if they continually offend. The answer is build more jails, the population is rising and there are not enough places that is why sentences are light.

At least one judge has shown some sense and allowed the names of the 2 that killed Brianna Ghey to be released.

I just had a look for deporting some one and found this on the Gov web site.  Immigration Rules - Immigration Rules part 13: deportation - Guidance - GOV.UK (www.gov.uk)  Look at the exclusion for deportation, who cares about their rights, put the rights of the people of this country first.

    Section 1: Grounds for deportation

13.1.1. A foreign national, who is not an Irish citizen, is liable for deportation where:

    (a) they have been convicted of a criminal offence for which they have received a custodial sentence of at least 12 months; or

    (b) the Secretary of State otherwise considers that the deportation of the foreign national is conducive to the public good; or

    (c) they are the spouse, civil partner or child aged under 18 of a foreign national who is, or has been ordered to be, deported.

  9. What is it with the powers that be that run this country, why has Parliament not brought in a law saying they will deport people like this. I am not bothered what happens to him if he is deported, he was given the chance to make a new life here and he abused it. I have said for years after reading other stories like this why have the Government not made it a law that anyone granted asylum will be deported if they commit serious crimes no second chance, also serial offenders for less serious crimes told that on a second offence they would be deported. We have too many do-gooders in this country who will be saying yes but if he is deported he might get hurt. Tough s**t far better it is him than some women being sexually assaulted, I wonder if the people that allowed him to stay are able to sleep knowing what they have caused his victims to go through. End of rant.

Wonder if any player has ever scored a hat trick or even more of penalties in a cup tie?

Who is the ref today, Keith Hackett?😀

    echo.

Didn't Andy Blair score one for Wednesday, can't remember who it was against though think it was the League Cup.

Yes he did, just done a search.

In November 1984, while playing for Sheffield Wednesday against Luton Town, he achieved the unusual distinction of being the first player to ever score a hat-trick of penalties in the League Cup. [6] He also appeared for Barnsley and Northampton Town, before a knee injury ended his professional career in 1989
