  4. Marvellous how the PL top teams want the FA cup matches reduced yet are not complaining about EUFA reformatting their competitions which means more games. Next season will see men's European club football expand further, with an additional 177 fixtures across Uefa's three major tournaments - and with that comes an increasing impact on the planet. From the 2024/25 season, teams in the UEFA Champions League will play more games. The format has changed, and here’s what you need to know: Increased Participation: Instead of the previous 32 teams, 36 clubs will now participate in the Champions League league phase (formerly known as the group stage). This means four additional teams will have the opportunity to compete against the best clubs in Europe12. New League Phase: In the new format, teams will play eight matches during the league phase. Unlike before, where they faced three opponents twice (home and away), they will now play fixtures against eight different teams. Half of these matches will be at home, and the other half away1. Seeding Pots: Initially, the teams will be ranked into four seeding pots. Each team will then be drawn to play two opponents from each pot, resulting in a total of eight different opponents. This change allows clubs to test themselves against a wider range of opponents and increases the possibility of top teams facing each other earlier in the competition1.
  5. Well we can't have the big clubs overpaid players getting worn out, they need all their energy for the European trophy competitions, are they not altering the format meaning more matches? They are not bothered about the fans and the clubs outside of the Premier League, all they are bothered about are the big clubs, sooner they disappear off into a European Super league the better.

  15. Did some work there back in 1982, I think it was someone called John running it then, not sure if it used to be his parents pub. The elderly lady who worked in the kitchen gave us a plate of freshly cooked chips every day. Was a nice pub, very quiet and like someone said a lot of professional people used it, I don't think I have ever been in there since then.

  22. Too true it is all about the money, clubs that were big years ago are never going to get those days back because even if they get a billionaire owner and get in the PL their hands will be tied. Clubs like Forest whose owner wants to spend on the club but can't, we will have to see what happens to them if they get points deducted. I understand that they want to make sure clubs don't go broke and have finance rules but it seems the the big 6, or should that be 7 now with Newcastle are not going to be affected. I can't understand how clubs can go out and spend a fortune of 100's of millions of pounds and not break the rules.
  23. I never did but there are people who will buy them because it is their team,. I found my ticket for the 1973 semi final at Hillsborough the other day, it was for the corner between the Leppings lane and the North stand, it cost 75p, what do they charge now for semi finals?
