  1. Damn! I bet that was really painful. Pity you didn't have the other 3 x 2s instead of AKQ. I'm sure I would have 'bragged' with that too.
  2. Not anymore. But I certainly remember playing it whilst in the Double Maths/6th form course at Sheffield City Grammar. Anytime the teacher was late, or otherwise sidetracked, out would come the cards. Since we had little money at the time, the stakes varied just about every time we played. Won't mention my playing buddies' names since they may not appreciate it. Good times though.
  3. HI La Manga, I used to play with Roger and the Wildcats. I Emailed you with some info. TheDrib
  4. Did he wear horn-rimmed glasses, and look a little like Hank Marvin of the Shadows?
  5. Hello there. I attended Southey Green School from 1951/1952 to 1957, when I passed the 11 plus and then started at the Sheffield City Grammar School. We lived on Murdoch Road, then moved to the Lowedges estate in 57. I remember quite a few 'friends' from that period, particularly those that lived on Murdoch Rd.
  6. Hi Natstall - wasn't trying to nitric. We just need to proofread sometimes. It's so easy to say the opposite of what we really meant, especially if typing on a smartphone. ...and it is a great idea. Good luck with it. Geoff
  7. Hi Natstall - If they should be forgotten, why bother?
  8. Unfortunately, this video is only available to UK residents. I am in the US and unable to load it. Any ideas anyone. Thanks
  9. My mother, and one of her friends used to work there, back in the late 60s.
  10. Yes, I remember it as the Infirmary. For me it was probably 1951/52 - I was 6 or 7. I distinctly remember the gauze mask they put on your face, then the sprinkling of the 'ether', and then waking up on a mattress on the floor with what seemed like 2,000 other young kids. They didn't give me any ice cream, I had to wait till I got home.
  11. Would like to know if anyone has any idea how a Sheffield expat, not living in the UK, can get access to the BBC archives and manage to see the recent documentary 'The Big Melt'. I'm sure I'm not the only one interested in this. Thanks in advance - Geoff
  12. Where was ICT (International Computers and Tabulators)located in Sheffield? I remember them in Manchester, but not in Sheff. They eventually became ICL (International Computers Limited). Am I completely off mark here?
  13. Maybe the 5 year delay to the last scene, explains why we don't see a bicycle until then.
  14. Any idea how I can 'fix' the video so I can see it in the US. I an originally from Sheffield, but now live in New York and I cannot open it. Thanks in advance
  15. I think my first experience was "Hulley's", on Parson Cross during the early 50s, then Walls, and then Mr Softee. I can still smell the exhaust from the Hulleys van.
