  1. Check this thread:- http://www.sheffieldforum.co.uk/showthread.php?t=209213 Mentions a couple of places on/near London Road.
  2. We ate at Piccolino's in St Paul's Parade last night before going to the cinema. Great space, very modern decor and a fine view out onto the Peace Garden fountains and water-balls glinting in the sun. The food was very good and the service was fine. Two main courses, two desserts and a bottle of wine came to £50.
  3. I use a program called NetMeter. It's free, you can download from http://www.metal-machine.de/readerror/index.php It seems pretty accurate - well, put it this way, it matches the usage figures I get from my ISP. It automatically keeps usage details by day, week, month so you can go back and check.
  4. I wondered what was up when I drove along Psalter Lane at 7:15 this morning. There was a police car blocking Kingfield Road at the traffic lights and the police were directing people away. Found more on BBC News here:- http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/south_yorkshire/6260110.stm
  5. We went to the Parthenonas on Saturday evening. Nice place, fresh decor, busy with families when we arrived, later on what seemed to be lots of regulars coming in to big welcomes from the owners. The food was very good, service attentive, prices reasonable. Two starters and two mains plus a bottle of wine came to £50. We'll definitely be going back.
  6. Highlight the lines you want to sort. Go to Table then select Sort.
  7. We went to the Wig & Pen for lunch on Saturday and it was excellent. I had the pan-fried gnocchi and my partner had the boston baked beans. The food was great, service was spot on and the atmosphere very relaxing. Nice way to spend a couple of hours on a Saturday afternoon. The food and a bottle of wine came to £24 so not expensive compared to other places.
  8. John Norton & Son Ltd. Sheffield Tel: 0114 2721294 Don't know if they're still in business but they used to service our Aga for over 20 years till we moved (to an Aga-less house, boo hoo).
  9. Setti Colli Eagle Service Station, Bradfield Rd, Sheffield, S6 2BY 0114 2855856
  10. We went last night, first time since it re-opened. Looks nice and was far busier than the old Regents Terrace used to be. But the menu was very limited, five starters and five mains. Frankly, the food was disappointing and the service inadequate for what we paid - £120 for two courses for four people plus three bottles of plonk. The piano is in the restaurant bit and since our table was next to it, we couldn't hear ourselves think far less have a conversation. OK if you want a change from the usual West Street watering holes.
  11. Google says http://www.rag-and-bone.co.uk/
  12. Have a look at this:- You cannot install MSDE 2000 if the Server service is not running: http://support.microsoft.com/?id=829386 A Google search shows there seem to be quite a few problems with installing MSDE. Good luck.
  13. Have just downloaded MSDE Release A and installed it on a Windows 2003 Standard Edition server with Service Pack 1. I had to specify an instance name and strong sa password, just running setup.exe resulted in an "invalid instance name" error. Can only suggest you turn on Windows Installer debugging and get a log file of the install and see what's going wrong.
  14. Hi Davyboy. The reason Internet Explorer copes with a lot of junk that other browsers reject is that it implements a lot of non-standard stuff that makes it "easier" to construct websites. This allows Mr W. Gates to tie users into his products and block out the competition. As to your inability to change the Java settings: if you read the text by the settings and the error messages you get, you'll notice they refer to "Mozilla" and not Firefox. I presume Java is looking for the original Mozilla browser and not its newer offspring. I've learned to use what works for whatever site I'm trying to access. Some will only work with IE and if you want in, you have to use it. Thanksfully most sites these days seem to work with Firefox so I tend to use that for 99% of my browsing. Happy surfing!
  15. Tried the same thing on my XP machine with FireFox and the same Java engine. http://www.trimar.co.uk is using a java applet called fphover which is an animated button. If you look in the java console after you load the initial page, you'll see a load of errors starting with "class fphover: class not found". All this initial web page is trying to do is put up a button for you to click to take you to this address: http://www.tropicalfish.org.uk/home.htm If you go there directly, it doesn't appear to use the fphover class again and you can access the rest of the site. If you do a Google on "class fphover not found" you get a whole load of info about it not being a good thing to use on web sites.
