  1. Yeah I think we were lucky to be the age we were at that time. I just love the fact that all these young northern lads and lasses were suddenly immersed in hallucinogens and embraced a new and wonderful state of mind. You couldn't have guessed that was about to happen! It must transformed loads of lives. I know there has been some casualties and there were times in my twenties when things were tuff coming to terms with post acid times but the love shines through!
  2. I have been thinking a lot about the Acid House days recently.I am now 44 years old. I love the fact that I was there at that time. It was the most incredible buzz! I have a few close mates who I am still close to who were there with me. We all feel it was such an important and transforming time. We still buzz off the energy from that time. I often wonder what happened to all the like minded souls who were there in places like Occasions. I can see here that they are all still out there (most of them anyway) and they all think the same as me -that it was like some kind of magical loving mind blowing bonding experience! I know it sounds daft but I loved those people that were in those places off their faces like me they are real kindred spirits and in my heart I love them still!!! I think about it all the time and always I start feeling a tingling buzz through my soul when I do! I got into it all in and 88/89. Me and my mates were souring on Acid every weekend for a year or two...It was astounding! By 91 I had left my job in an office in town and gone travelling for 8 months. I have tried to use the positive energy from that time to forge my life and have been quite successful in it. I have done my own thing since those days and used what the attitude of those days and the people who shared them with me taught me-You can do anything you want if you put your mind to it!! Anyone else think like this ??
  3. Hi There! Yes thats the place. WHen is the renunion?
  4. I just came accross this thread. I used to go to occassions from 1990 to probably around 1992/3. Me and my mates were all 19 or 20 years old. I had the best time of my life in there! It was rammed to the rafters(more than likley illegally packed) After going to other 'normal'clubs when I was in my early teens this was a pure delight. I true underground happening. What would we have done without those nights??? Still sends a shudder down my spine. Before occasions started doing those nights we used to go to parties at a place at attercliffe -it was a music studio. This was in 89. This was an all nighter. Winston and Parrot would play. It was in a small upstairs room. Anyone remember this?
  5. I started this thread a good few weeeks ago. I have come back to it a couple of times but not for a while. I couldnt believe how many views and replys it would generate! I will be passing this on to my Mum who lived in Grimesthorpe(Christine Varley)from 1947 (on Cylclops Street). Im Sure she will know some of you. The Sheffield Forum is a very useful place!
  6. my Grandparents lived at Grimesthorpe. My Mum was born there in 1947. Their family name was Varley. My Grandad Edward Varley worked at Richards Steel at moorfoot. They originally lived on Cyclops Street which was pulled down in the early seventies. They moved to council flats just up the road. My Mum Christine Smith and her Sister Ann went to Grimesthorpe School during the mid sixties. I remember vagueley being bathed in a tin bath in front of an open fire at Cyclops Street. There was no bathroom. This must have been in 1973/4. My Nannan Catherine Varley and my Grandad Edward would take me and my brother and sister to the Grimesthorpe Working Mens Club on a Saturday Night. It was a huge busy place and it was always very smokey!I wonder if anyone remembers my Grandparents or Mum? A friend of my Nannans was Mrs Toyne a short woman who lived in the flats above cyclops street?
