  1. If we are still out of the bottom 3 by the last game I'll feel much more confident. Huddersfield have got Birmingham next, whatever the result there will put us back in the bottom 3 I think with our poor goal difference unless we can avoid defeat here.

As always I'm not confident, I'll just wait and see without making any prediction and pray whatever we do in the next 2 games is enough to keep us up.

    Yes.

This is the question for me. Why weren’t the buses stored at Brightside, like TSY stated they would be? Might be an awkward question to ask a few contacts when the furore dies down.

Beat me to replying. Maybe the TSY person you spoke to wasn't as in the know as you thought. I doubt anyone would risk voiding any insurance by not parking them in the place the insurance expect them to be put either.

I'm sure many questions will be asked when it's died down.

I assume it was, and somewhere earlier in this thread @SheffieldForumquoted a TSY/SYMCA source as saying it would be at Brightside - they were obviously lying/misinformed.

I could be wrong but I thought he said it was a staff member at the interchange or something like that rather than TSY/SYMCA. It wouldn't have to be someone high up that would of dealt with the insurance so  not sure how accurate @SheffieldForum information, might of been more hearsay.

He may not specifically  claim 'responsibility' , but he certainly likes his name associated with the 'big' things.

If they have 'considered' it, it obviously wasn't for long - or those making the decision are not up to the job - £1/2m of kit in an open location? One also assumes that the Interchange is registered as an Operating Centre?

One reason they 'park up' there is because they take around 10 hours to charge up, apparently, because the installed charging facilities are not up to the job -if the correct facilities had been installed, then the vehicles could have been charged there, and then moved to secure overnight storage.

I don't know how accurate the information I was given about charging time was, he could of been wrong for all I know. I'm not sure how long it takes to charge would of been a consideration as to where to store them anyway.

This incident does seem to show they need to evaluate how they are stored though, even if just better security.

What’s he spent on the stands ? …other than plastering his name all over them ?

Didn't he spend some on the north stand concourse? Even so I'm guessing it wasn't a great amount, not even close to what the ground actually needs spending on it.

The results Saturday will be very important, Hudders and Birmingham have winnable games with Stoke and Plymouth to play each other, if by some miracle Rovrum could get something out of Brum (very doubtful) it gives us the perfect incentive to beat Blackburn whether we can then do that or not is another matter, Rovers will see the game as the one that makes them safe so they won't be sitting back, I feel it could all be over by Sunday afternoon.

Rotherham have lost their manager though so you never know, I can't see it myself either though. I'm not optimistic we'll get the 3 points but as always I hope I'm proved wrong.

They definitely didn’t take both back to the station — there are photos from the morning showing one of them in situ at Killamarsh after crashing (and being recovered).

I’ve heard about 15 different stories about this now — there’s some Chinese whispers going on! 🤣

I only know the drivers were sent down as normal which would indicate the company knew nothing about it also if it was towed in the towing company would of been in on the conspiracy, it's not a simple 1 minute job putting the bus back at the charging points, unhooking it and putting the charging wire in, so that just doesn't make sense to me the towing part. Also the CSI were on the smashed up bus most of the morning, I'd of thought all that would of been done where it had been crashed to not destroy evidence.

Like you say though theres that many different versions going around but I can only go on what I've heard and seen myself.

Just to update on the stolen bus front.

It wasn't one bus that was stolen, 2 were stolen. The 2nd was found 60miles away, undamaged. Both were seen together on the Parkway & Crystal Peaks prior to the one being crashed in Killamarsh.

One was definitely stolen and smashed up, the other I was under the impression hadn't left the interchange but could be wrong on that. However one wasn't found 60 miles away, both were parked up in the interchange, first thing the company knew about it was when the drivers got to the buses for start of service.

As I now rarely use Twitter as an information source, I'll take your word for what it is used for.

I don't know what you mean about 'infoboards', but  some of the 'live times' displays, especially the new ones on Furnival Gate are useless anyway, you can't read them.

Storing them there is poor security anyway. Even if they get a picture, they've got to find him/her.

Maybe this will make them re think it, probably not though after spending money on the charging points. I doubt SPCT would be happy about the council wanting to store them at brightside, I guess the contract and costings were done on the basis of them staying in the interchange overnight. Company costs would go up having to store there. If anything this will be a wake-up call for the council/interchange about the security there.

    18-19hrs is average.

When First had the Volvo EV on loan it ran the 51 service for a full 19hr shift and had just over 20% left.

Weather was variable that day and the bus was fully charged the next day ready for service.

Yea obviously depends on the route and weather  but the connects seem to use around 26% in a day. I wouldn't know how hilly the 51 is, that would make big difference I guess.

Out of a 24 hour day I reckon buses need to be active 20 hours per day

I am assuming the electric buses can be active 20 hours out of 24?

I checked at the end of the day and it had used about 26% of the battery. That's with lights and  heaters on, so yes they could seems that was a 12 hour day. Anyway I'm not sure what your point is, it's still better to have 4 electric buses running around town than 4 diesel's. The odd tow here and there isn't going to offset that.

The charge time I saw - on the official ADL spec sheet was 3.1/2 hours , but maybe that was using  different charging kit? - I don't know, as just a very interested party, I can only go on publicly available data.

I would have thought SYMCA (as the owners of the vehicles) would have made suitable provision for the secure overnight storage of these expensive vehicles - but accept we are talking about a dysfunctional organisation, so maybe I am expecting the impossible?

I've been told the way they had to wire it up means it's a slower charge. When they can hook it up to the correct place then it might be 3.5 hours I guess but not at the moment. Just doing connects though you can probably get 3 days use before needing to charge them if you really wanted. They'd need to find somewhere other than brightside yard to store them though.

Considering the times the EVs are used in service, and the claimed recharge time, it should be possible to charge them and send them to secure(ish) storage overnight?

Tracking - wonder if anyone has thought of reporting this 'oversight'?

I'm not sure what charge time you've been told about charge time but to do a full charge at the interchange is 10 hours at minute, obviously wouldn't need full charge much and it was never the plan to store at the brightside yard as there isn't enough room.

I'm not sure if storage will change now but I'd of thought whoever stole it must of had some idea of starting them as it's not as simple as pressing an on button.

I must be missing something here. I'll admit I don't pay much attention to your situation  ( got troubles of my own ) but a few weeks ago I saw the table and thought you'd survive.

Having just read your comments on here I took another look and still think the same.

You've got five games left,  fifteen points to play for and you're only two points ( taking goal difference into consideration ) away from safety.

What am I missing? Unless there's something I'm completely unaware of - always a possibility - we'll be having derby games next season.

I know us Sheffielders like to look on the ' glass half empty ' side of things but I think you're overdoing it at the moment.

I wish there was 5 games. We need to win at least 2 of them and hope for the best. I think we only have 1 win left in us now and it seems whatever we do the majority of teams down there equal it.

  15. Needed to win today, draw not much use. At least Huddersfield ended up drawing. I can't see us getting the points to stay up, I was hoping we'd be out of the relegation zone after today. It's going to be tough now to get another 3 wins which we may well need.

  16. It just goes to show how much that promotion was needed for United if they couldn't pay for their players. I'm not sure if it was around the time Dozy was sniffing around the club so the excuse was something to do with the takeover side. Either way it doesn't look good. A blade I football with reckons the punishment is too soft and your lucky it wasn't more.
