  1. So this storm was a no show. I'm not complaining about this lovely weather but my water butts are now empty and I was hoping for a drop of rain to help fill them and water my vegetables..

The New week forecast is showing another lovely week ahead but still not a drop of rain.

I think it was over three weeks ago since we last had some rain..

Our grit bin on Bevan Way was taken away by council , bloke in charge of gritting stated there had never been one there although it was plain to see on Google Earth , Pensioners slipping and hurting them self , cars skidding all over/'

Two councilors said they will get it put back , over two years  , Still no grit bin , people still getting hurt,

Had to go to burncoss surgery last night in my wheelchair.

My wife had to hold on for dear life onto my wheelchair as the path was thick in icey snow.

Not one of the paths to the surgery had been gritted or cleared.

I can't believe no one would clear a path to the doctors of all places.

I've got some tinned and packet goods you can have if that would help?

Thanks The daddy for your extremely kind gesture but we'll get by .

It's just the little things that gets me down.

You know when people cry poverty then order a takeaway for supper. These things are a luxury for people in my situation.

  4. It's ok to laugh and joke but this is the only thing keeping us from going insane.

We're a disabled family and I wish I could work like I did in the past but now due to many medical conditions I'm having to rely on sate benefits.

Having to rely on benefits makes me a lot more frugal.

We don't drink or smoke so we're able to just get by .

It's the drinking /smoking McDonald's loving benefit chavy families putting the rest of us to shame.

We live in a prefab house and the tinned fruit in our kitchen cupboards that are on the window wall are now frozen.

Even though we've got the heating on 25 degree's.

The one single radiator is on the back wall and is literally doing nothing to help heat the kitchen.

Prefab house's are like living in a concrete garage.

Can't complain I suppose because we were once homeless and know what it's like to not even having a roof over your head.

  5. I would have thought all charity shops would take them.

I’m going on a charity shop hunt later as during the lockdown we sorted the loft and have several bags of old children’s toys and clothes that we’ve sorted out and are no longer needed. I’ll ask whilst I’m in and let you know which one takes them.  Which area of Sheffield are you from?

I’ll be heading down Hillsborough way

Ah the loft feels a lot lighter now lol..

  6. Since the 12th of May people are able to move houses so why for the THIRD week running hasn’t the council run property shop been up and working ?

Vulnerable People on the Priority bands and other people registered on the rehousing list are still left in limbo.

  7. If it’s just overgrown the council will not do anything, Unless the new tenants are disabled or if it’s full of hazardous waste (nappies, bagged household waste etc etc) then the council are obliged to help.

Presumably the no van rule has been abused recently by people using 7 seat people carriers to dump big items such as sofas when the tip doesn't have the staff and/or method of disposal available due to the coronavirus. I actually think it's only been the goodwill of the staff that have let you come on site previously in a VW Transporter as it's clearly a van even if it has seats and ramps in it.

I actually have an agreement with the site management that I can access the recycling centre once a week because its medical waste that I get rid of.

The council have said I could have a weekly collection but to save them money I told them that I’d get rid of it myself. So hence the agreement with the management.

Still even though I have said agreement I was still not allowed on the site because of the new ruling.

  9. I often have to go to the tip to dispose of my medical waste and always have to pip my horn because it’s too big to go under the barrier.

Yes the transporter is/was a minibus but now It’s modified with a winch and a ramp, so the back row of seats have been removed.

As soon as I pulled up to the gates two men (recycling centre workers) approached and one of them told me about the new ruling.

I did notice on longly Avenue west just up the road from the tip several piles of rubbish probably dumped by people driving people carriers.

  10. Just to let you all know that people carriers are not allowed on site.

On my only trip out for the week I decided to take 4 bin bags to the tip as I was passing, but because I drive a bigger car ( I have to so that I can get my wheelchair in ) I was turned away.

Before I went out this morning I made sure to look at the website to make sure it was open and noticed nothing at all regarding these rule changes.

I wasn't on my own I also had my Carer with me.

I feel I’ve been discriminated against because I’m disabled and have to drive a bigger car.
